As it appears, the survival drop amount each day on unprotected cubs is completely random. Wouldn't it be more immersing if the season and event had an effect on how much it dropped? And perhaps the messages you get?

At the moment, it is equally possible for your cub's survival bar to go down from 5-20%. I suggest that each event and season (wet vs. dry) have an effect on what is most likely. The events are categorized as follows:

Suggested "dangerous" events (15-18% during wet season, 18-20% during dry season):
January (Famine)
March (Poachers)
June (Floods)
August (Drought)
October (Rabies)

Suggested "peaceful" events (5-8% during wet season, 8-10% during dry season):
February (Aphrodesia) (may be neutral instead)
July (Celestial)
November (Shamans)
December (Season of gifts)

Suggested "neutral" events (10-13% during wet season, 13-15% during dry season):
April (Rabbit outbreak)
May (Championships)
September (Locust outbreak)

Every day, there would be a 50% chance of rolling from the entire range, 50% of rolling from the event/season range.

If you roll from the event range, maybe you'd even be able to receive some event-exclusive Cub Accident/Cub Death messages. Maybe your cub wandered a bit too close to the killing stone. Maybe it ran into a poacher, or a rabid animal.

Broodmothers would fully protect cubs as usual, this would just be additional flavor for those cubs who are unprotected.

If you opt out of event activity, the mortality range would just use the full range as it is now. So yes, you could take advantage by opting out of "dangerous" events, but then you wouldn't be able to participate in the rest of it!

This is actually a fascinating idea. :o It allows a more interactive survival for cubs. We see more flavour text and more events that tie in with our monthly events [if that makes sense]. Totally supporting this!

Support!!

However... I don't think February should be peaceful :) I don't know how the event is run here, but the, ah, mating season tends to be a time of higher aggression among most animals XD

Of course lions don't actually tend to have a 'mating season', but they do have a lot of.. well, most real lions click the 'kill cub' button rather than 'frolic' :)

@KnittyMermaid

Good point! I put Aphrodesia under "peaceful" mostly because the event is more of a silly take on it. You flirt with other prides' lionesses and can slap those who try to flirt with yours. Explore events include flirting with lionesses, and even lions if you wish!

I'll add a note on Aphrodesia that it might be a "neutral" event, although I'm keeping it in the "peaceful" tab. I want to keep the groups relatively balanced, and while it isn't perfect how I have it, having four "peaceful" vs. five "dangerous" is better than only having three "peaceful."

@Before

Haha, It's a fair enough point. :) I'm new here, so I havn't played the Feb event before...

It's honestly probably better to keep it under peaceful.

While there probably SHOULD be some 'your cub wandered off and found someone who didn't click frolic' accidents (if there aren't already :) ) it would be... extra dark if there were MORE of them in that time. I dunno!

That said, the distribution of events through the year is pretty good:

it goes like this at current, which is pretty decent.. :D

So I'd say it's probably awesome as is. :)

This would be interesting, but how many people actually play with unprotected cubs?

@Fart

I used to (well, still do, but with the "Abandon Cub" option I don't keep them as long). And people with big enough prides who are constantly breeding have to, given the Broodmother limit.

But even then, it's a perfectly viable way to play - the majority of my unprotected cubs made it to adulthood back before "Abandon Cub" was a thing, so there might be people out there who play it a little more dangerously for fun.

I know it's a "viable" way of playing, I just was not/am not certain how many players actually do play that way.
