SUGGESTION: Cosmetic marking slots!

Khell, what do you mean by cosmetic marking slots?

Cosmetic marking slots are just what they sound like: slots for markings that can be seen on the lion, but not be passed onto offspring! Say, for example, you want to but vitiligo 3 into a cosmetic marking slot; then the vit would be visible on the actual lion, but no cubs of that lion will have vit 3 (unless, of course, the other parent has vit 3 as well.)

Why ever would we need these things?

Well, what if you have a mane marking that you would like to remove in order to make way for a marking that would look perfect in that slot, and ONLY that slot? But your lion simply doesn’t look the same afterwards? That’s when you would either move the mane marking into a cosmetic marking slot, or you would apply the marking that you really really want into a cosmetic slot.

How will this benefit Lioden?

We could make people pay GB to make a marking cosmetic. (That way, we also won’t have people making rare markings optional for spite, then selling that lion.) Lioden will also earn GB that way. I can add yet more markings to my custom lioness, ones that I couldn’t find room in their slots for before. People can get rid of mane markings that enhance their king’s looks yet do absolutely nada for their cubs.

Wait, how does this work?

You’ll choose a marking on any of your lions, including your king and any frozens, and you will have an option to make it cosmetic. Similar to the "level up" buttons on your page. You’ll get a pop-up, saying "Are you SURE you want to make this marking cosmetic? It will cost you X amount of GB and it won’t be able to be passed onto any cubs!" If you click yes, there’ll be another pop up. "Are you SURE?" If you are, then the GB will be deducted, the marking will be made cosmetic, and you can choose what marking slot you want the cosmetic marking to be seen below. (This is great for people who want to add a marking right below their slot-1 rare marking.)

Alternatively, when you go to add a marking using marking applicator, you can choose to add that marking in a cosmetic slot. It will work just like how I described above.

For those of you that still don’t get it:

This is Tacky, short for the Tackmeister. He’s owned by user "Potatosack", who has obtained a PhD in Tastelessness and a master’s degree in Cringe-Worthy Colour Co-ordination. Now Potatosack is very proud of his lil’ baby Tacky. But with the release of the ivory markings, Potato has seen a new opportunity to make Tack even MORE psychedelic! How could he pass up a chance like that?! So Potato will now scroll down to Tacky’s page and look at his markings.

2n19mhj.jpg

Since Potato never liked Tackmeister’s vit 3 passing on to cubs, but Tacky doesn't look anywhere NEAR as tacky without his vit, he’ll choose that as the marking he wants to make cosmetic! He can then add his other markings in the very spot previously occupied by the vitiligo.

Please tell me why you support/don’t support! Also. Give me suggestions to make this idea better, and thank you for reading!

Seems innocent enough, and it would be nice to put more mane markings on my king that don't take up slots on his cubs.

And I need a Tackmeister of my own, now that is one gorgeous lion XD

I like the idea because it seems like a cool thing to do, but I don't support it because even though I like the idea and think it's cool, I don't think it's practical for lioden really. And I only don't think it's practical because having markings on a lion that he has no chance of passing almost completely defeats the purpose of having markings.

But, might I suggest an option to remove any cosmetic markings, like the marking removal from the oasis. That way players like me, who wouldn't want cosmetic markings on their lion, can remove those that someone else may have put there before buying.

The reason why you would have a marking that doesn't pass has been stated in my main post. Also, what if you have a king with a marking you like on him, but not on his cubs? Then this could come in handy.

I like this Idea! ^^

To me, it's almost like turning the markings into a decor of their own, which is fun.
It means that you can change a lion without messing up it's breeding patterns; and for those who breed specific marks, it's a real bonus.

But we have contacts, doesn't that completely defeat the purpose of having eyes?
I would also suggest that there be a limit on the number of 'extra' non breedable markings you can put on a lion, say three. This makes sure that we don't have lions with 20+ markings, but is still plenty for people to experiment with.

Blue, maybe we could have the price for each cosmetic marking on a lion increase each time? Would that help?

Yes I read the reason for having a marking that doesn't pass, I was simply stating that I didn't think it was practical. If I don't like the way the markings look on the cubs then I just either sell them or kill them. Or I'll remove the one marking I don't like that's messing up the design. While it's a cool idea I see no real reason to remove a marking from my lion and still have it visible just because there's the chance it won't look good on his cubs.

@Blue I also am not a fan of the contacts, and didn't support that idea for the same reason. But the admins decide what is in the game and what is not. and for the record, I did offer an idea to help this one if the admins decided to use it.

I support this entirely. Back when I was a newbie, I fell quite horrendously victim to studs that looked gorgeous but had tactless cubs. I soon came to realize that a king looks handsome with the combination of markings, but the actual markings are usually sub-par on their own.

Good point, Kali. This was an experimental idea, we'll see what others think :P

I think you misunderstood my post ;) I personally think 3 is a good final number. If you don't want to use breeding slots for mane markings, then you can still get a fabulous mane with 3 markings. I just think that there should be a limit on the number of extra markings, just in case a slotgate happens due to extra slots taking up too much site data and drastic actions needing to be taken by the admins.

Edited my post. Limit of 3 slots and each slot increases in price sounds good.

Love this idea! Finally mane markings won't be 600% useless and also extremely annoying. Right now it's like, oh, great. My cub inherited 3 markings... And they're ALL. MANE. MARKINGS.

A limit of 3 sounds good as well.
