Matlock

Matlock paced between his kennel and the oak tree that dwarfed him. The chain that hung loosely around his neck ratted and shook with every sharp turn that he made. Matlock was a creature of habit. He knew that his owner would usually be home by now, and they would soon be out in the forest hunting various animals. Matlock wasn't sure how much time had passed, but he knew it was late. The sun was starting to set and it was getting cold. Flurries of snow landed around Matlock's feet and he grunted in disapproval. At this rate, he was going to miss supper! He perked his ears - Odd. Usually the neighbour's wife is home from work soon, but he had yet to hear the screeching tires along their paved driveway. Matlock was not impressed by the humans' disruption of routine. He took himself to the back of his kennel and curled into a ball, highly anticipating his master's return.

Opal

Opal whined and paced around her home, her humans were usually back at this time. Finally, she laid down in her bed and fell asleep. When she woke up her humans weren't here and it was clear they weren't coming back. Opal went through her door into the fenced backyard, she looked around then mentally prepared herself to jump the fence. "3..2..1!" Opal leaped over the fence and landed on the other side. "Ahh!" Opal screamed when she landed, she looked down and saw her paw twisted at an odd angle. Opal glanced around and whimpered in fear. There was nothing, only empty homes, and cars.

Matlock

Matlock grew impatient rather quickly, so slumped quietly out of his kennel. His master was still not home, and the whole town seemed eerie and unsettling. He quickly slipped his loose collar and chain, and took to pacing around the 10 foot chain fence that enclosed his yard. His owner was not stupid - He knew very well that Matlock was a high jumper and escape artist, but the fence did not deter the ridgeback. He paced up and down the perimeter, barking idley at the parked cars and brisk wind that swept through the streets. Even though it was getting dark, there would usually be someone walking past every now and then, but there had been no one for quite some time. Matlock was growing concerned - Not only was he allowed to sleep in the kitchen on cold nights like this, but sometimes he even got to sit on the sofa.. And now he was going to be stuck outside all night! He grew increasingly agitated, barking and grunting loudly at any leaf that so much as twitched in the wind. If he was to sleep in the cold tonight, he would make sure that no one in his entire town would get any sleep!

Opal

Opal heard barking and perked up her ears, "Hello?!" She called. Opal started limping towards the noise, stumbling over the junk on the sidewalk. Opal whimpered again as she hit her twisted paw on some trash. Opal paused and sat down, licking her paw. She grimaced but decided it had to be done, suddenly she let out a long howl as she twisted her paw back around to its correct place. Opal was afraid to look at her paw but when she glanced down it looked normal again. She tried to take a step but she still couldn't put any weight on the paw. Opal rested for a few minutes then continued her limp to the other dog.

Luna

As soon as the dalmatian had scurried through the hole in the wire fencing, she was off. The dog bounded through the snow joyfully, kicking up little puffs of the snow that had begun to fall. She soon found herself in a new neighbourhood, she stopped. She lowered her head at the empty street, and cocked it slightly. No humans. She shook her head a little in annoyance at the dark leather collar around her neck, but then froze once again. What if there were other dogs? They could be free together. She let out a loud howl, asking if anyone was there, or if anyone needed help. It only occurred to Luna after her howl, that it could attract predators. Oh well, she could run. She then noticed barking, and another dog's howl. She lifted her muzzle once again, and let out a loud howl once more.

||Orion||

Winter was Orion's favorite season because that's when he was needed most. His owner had bought him specifically for his slim figure which made him lighter and quicker on his feet. He was a sled dog, and he enjoyed it very much. He took people on rides sometimes, or his owner would just take them on their own adventure. However, one day his owner did not come to get him from his shed. He began to panic.. His master always came to check on him at least.. Orion decided to wait it out, knowing his master would never abandon him. However, days passed and he began to feel the effects of hunger and dehydration. He decided he'd have to escape on his own and figure out for himself why his owner had not returned.

Bramble

She listened silently to the whispers of the wind, it seemed like years ever since she had eaten anything and her stomach growled continuously for food. The sound of other dogs around town made the fae's ear twitch lightly, it seemed that they had found out their masters were not returning for a while. Bramble stood up and looked up at the sky, small flecks of snow falling inside her ear making it twitch "Where are they..." She murmured before looking at the gate and walking over to it, her muzzle opening to unlock it like she always did when the mail man came around the corner to deliver mail. Bramble walked out onto her front lawn and laid down. Suddenly, the sound of another dog howling caught Brambles attention and her head darted upwards, her eyes moving towards where she heard the loud howl 'Another dog is out of their yard?' She thought lightly before standing up and beginning to trot down the side walk, her nose twitching as she began to track the other pet.

Matlock

Matlock was growing more and more frustrated by the second. He could hear other dogs in the neighbourhood were growing just as anxious as he was. He paced quickly alongside the fence, grunting and growling in frustration. The ridgeback raised onto his back legs and beat his paws loudly against the fence, making it rattle and clink. He howled in frustration as the scent of other dogs began to surround him. He felt cornered and in danger. Matlock was working himself up more and more until he made a swift turn in an attempt to jump the fence, but noticed a small patch of uprooted soil at the base of the fence. Matlock sniggered and took to furiously digging beneath his obstacle, his huge paws acting as shovels to unearth the ground. He was about halfway through digging when he lifted his head to be greeted by a border collie on the opposite side of the fence. Matlock grunted to the collie and narrowed his eyes. He was way of other dogs, and in this situation, even more so.

(Midnight here so I'm off to bed! Keep posting guys - Just assume Matlock can't get out of the garden/ignore him for now!)

Opal

Opal widened her eyes when she saw the brute. She limped away as fast as she could. Opal growled as she heard other dogs near her, she knew there was that one brute nearby and possibly another fae from the tone of the howls. If these other dogs were hostile she wouldn't be able to fight back. Opal managed to hop to the nearest alley then she backed up into it. She kept her eyes on the entrance to the alley then looked for a place to hide. Opal, knowing she was vulnerable, kept her back to the alley and watched as the fae who she had heard before walked pass the alley.

Matlock

Matlock ignored the collie that fled, focusing his strength on the hole he was almost through with. From past experience, Matlock expected his master to come running out of the house, yelling and shouting about how bad he was, but this time, the door to the house remained shut, and the only thing that the ridgeback could hear was his own paws shifting the loose soil.
With one final and almighty heave, Matlock managed to make the hole just big enough for him to squeeze through. It took a lot of pushing, and he got a few scrapes from the chained fence, but eventually Matlock squeezed himself through and found himself on the other side of the pavement. The road outside the house was long and straight, so it was easy to see each end of it from the yard. The entire street was silent, without a single human in sight. Matlock grinned to himself, his tail wagging wildly back and forth, and trotted across the street. A fish and chip shop sat just opposite his house, and always sent Matlock crazy with the smells of fresh battered cod on the weekends. Whenever he managed to escape his yard, he headed straight across the street - To the alleyway that sat behind the shop. It always had the best rubbish in the bins! Diving into the dumpster headfirst, Matlock was surprised to find that very little had been left this time. Still, this didn't deter him, and he continued rooting around in the bin for a well deserved snack.

-Drift-
Drift lifted his muzzle and tasted the air.He rose from his makeshift snow mound and yawned, his delicate pink tongue curling, looking out of place surrounded by the sharp canines. He stalked silently into the town,it was night so no one was out.He pricked his ears as the howling of dogs reached him.He chuckled to himself, thinking of them in their pitiful pens and yards, chained to their master. He was slipping though the alleys when he saw a large dog rooting around in the trash cans.He gave a low warning growl as his hackles rose.

Opal

Opal growled when the brute got out of the fence, she kept her back against the alley wall and raised her good paw in defense, Opal sighed in relief when the brute ignored her and crossed the street, heading towards a dumpster. she watched silently as another dog approached the one she had seen, when she was sure the dogs weren't hostile, at least not at her, Opal turned and limped out of the other side of the alley, hearing the dogs barking and growling behind her.

Luna | Mentions: Matlock, Drift

The dog turned from the empty street as a large tan coloured dog ran across the street, then dove into some dumpsters. She padded towards the dumpster and noticed another dog there, observing the dumpster dog. As the other dog growled, she turned to him, 'I don't think he really cares about you right now,' she barked quietly to the other dog, if he decided to attack her she could always run. She was known to the humans for her agility and speed.

Drift-
Drift turned around to face the stranger. He knew her coloring was not natural,so she must have been bred by the humans. He shook his grey mantle and turned to her with a wolfish grin, betraying the tainted blood that ran in his veins."He'll care about me when he is dead and his blood runs down the sewer!"He snarled, his voice more forceful with every word.He turned from the spotted dog and leaped at the tan, aiming for a crushing death bite from his wolfish jaws
