Dark, threatening storm clouds loomed overhead, echoes of thunder crashing in the distance. Mist had begun to fall from the sky, and those that were not already inside had begun to bundle up to face the moisture. The weather didn't seem to bring any omens of danger, just twinges of annoyance. Citizens would have to go out of their way to get things done now, as it was the season where harvest was flourishing. Those in the capital were paying those from the village to import all of their goods, and no rest would be had until the season was over. Horse-drawn carts rolled over the cobblestone streets, full to the brim with vegetables and wheat.

Kayen pulled his cloak closer to his body as he walked through the streets, toxic green eyes searching for a place to seek refuge. He hadn't been home in quite awhile, and the familiar scents and sounds that hung around him brought a familiar peace to his spirit. Running a hand through wet, tussled ebony hair, he threw a glance towards a tavern. It was a human village, one he was raised in once upon a time. Pushing open the door to the inn, a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as a loud, shrill voice rang out from corner to corner, inebriated inhabitants letting their joy and intoxication be known.

Sitting down at a small table in the back, he let his long legs stretch with a sigh, pulling his pack and his bow off of his person to set them on the table. He ordered quickly, wanting a mead to warm his stomach, and shut his eyes briefly, exhaustion sweeping over him.

Dark, mysterious clouds hung out in what use to be the bright blue sky. Now it was nothing but pitch black, not being able to see what was on the other side of the shade. The mist clung to your clothes if you were outside, causing them to go damp. Such a pity, yet, there was nothing you could do about it as it was nature after all. The only thing that seemed to be out in the roads at this time were traveling people, people hurrying into their houses, or people who were rather dumb to be out in calm weather before a storm. Fresher baked bread reaches your nose, causing your stomach to growl with hunger. Horse carts quickly went down the cobblestone path to their destination, having food stalls set up on the sides of the streets. The capital was a lovely place, but at the same time, it wasn't very safe. Nowhere was ever safe as devastation hits everywhere, no matter where you are in the world.

Zevran stood under a tree, letting the mist roll down his hair, dampening it more and more with each minute. Sure, he had a hood but there wasn't any point in using it now when you are already wet. He watched the streets for a few, making sure that no one was around. He hates being around people but he had business to attend to in a tavern. He had a feeling that the person he was doing business with has either fled out on the deal they mad or he was simply running late. He sighed as he pulled his cloak close against his body, shutting it to prevent his clothes from getting more damp than they already were. No people on the streets at the moment. He saw that as an opportunity and walked quickly to the closest tavern that was near, which was only two or three houses away from where he was standing. As soon as he entered the room, the warm atmosphere hit his damp body, already starting to dry out anything that was wet. The smell of alcohol reached his noise, causing a face of unpleasantness be shown for a split second before it disappeared. Alcohol wasn't his type of thing to drink. He disliked it. The buzz of people yelling and having fun reached his ears, causing him to sigh in annoyance. Of all things, it had to be a tavern where people get drunk. Well, most the humans, that is.

He reached the most quiet place in the tavern; the very back. He took his cloak and bow off before setting it on the table, sitting down in the process. He stretched his legs out, having them go out as far as they could before resting his head against the wall behind him. He hoped that the person comes here soon. If he doesn't appear in thirty minutes, he was out of here. It would be a pity if the person never came, as it was business. It would both be his waste of time coming here and the person's fault for not coming here when he should have. He seemed like he was already the responsible out of the two of them, going here when they were suppose to and arriving on time while the other didn't.
