It's just an increaed chance. I used a lion meat on a 3% fertile girl and her cubs were completely healthy.

I think lion meat increases your chance of getting a mutation by around 15%, GMO increases the chance by around 30%. Both items take precedence over fertility, so you could technically use one on a Goddess with the same chance of getting a mutation.

Q1: Yes, they can be worth it, at least during the months those items are available. I wouldn't pay 30+GB for a GMO cow for the chance to get a mutant, but in September I'd stock up with event currency. Lion Meat I might actually buy since they aren't quite as expensive.

Q2: GMO cow gives you the best chance, so that is what I recommend if you can afford it.

Q3: Try a GMO on your 6% girl. She might give you a mutant the next time around.

Experiences- I've gotten Foldies and Mane Fluffies from Lion Meat. I've gotten Mane Fluffies, a Mane Feathery, a Blind, an Achromia, and a Cyclopia from GMO cows.

I've never been able to breed a natural mutie, but lion meat has typically working well for me. I used them on my 1% almost every time. She gave me 4 mutants- mane fluffy, blind, maneless, and achromia. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. I take the chance and use the lion meat or GMO cow when I can because more often than not it works out.

Q1: Well, GMO cows have like a 60% chance on muties, lion meat around 30%, CRB around 10-15%. i think you just got unlucky this time, but most of the time GMO's pop out a mutation.

Q2: I'd recommand lion meats as well GMO's but GMO's only on the event when they are available, personally i wont pay 30+GB for one GMO, and i think you can use lion meats instead, since they dont have a high chance of mutations, you can always get one. its based about luck, not items used. like, i got my Sirenomelia with a Lion Meat on a leopon breeding. XD

Q3: it doesnt matter what % she is. really. doesnt. matter. XD but lower % ferts do have a chance of natural mutie if lion meat/GMO/CRB fail. :D
