Hey guys c:

Just a quick suggestion that when you click to subscribe on a thread, we get a confirmation popup box. The main reason for this is because people are exploiting the ability to add the subscribe link to their adverts and just clicking on their thread subscribes you without you noticing. We can fix this with a confirm.

Message: "You are about to subscribe to THREAD NAME, are you sure?"

This would be great, especially since I sometimes click through to a thread that, either accidentally or on purpose, has the subscribe link added into it. You then get auto-subscribed without realising, and start getting notifications for a thread you didn't perhaps want to sign up for.

Thanks! <3 c:

This suggestion has 45 supports and 8 NO supports.

Or you could just... unsubscribe?

1. You can unsubscribe
2. We seriously do not need confirmation boxes for EVERYTHING we do.

Hey guys c:

Thanks for your replies. The reason I've suggested this is because sometimes advertisements to threads are posted with the subscription automatically applied to the URL. This subscribes people to the thread without their choice. I visit a lot of threads from Sales chat, and then end up subscribed to several topics, getting repeated notifications, despite the fact that I did not sign up for it. In my opinion, we shouldn't be forced to be unsubscribing from threads that we did not ask to be subscribed to. <3

If this was a case of 'user error' encouraging a confirmation suggestion because of not paying attention, I could roll with your second criticism, Seiden, but this is an oversight that allows users to subscribe you to threads you didn't ask to be.

Yeah, this is an annoyance when clicking links people post in chat, even if they don't do it on purpose. XD

If nothing else, I would suggest that this is added as a convenience to mods, who have to check a ton of links all the time to make sure they aren't breaking rules/are posted in the right place, etc. Speaking as a former mod, being auto subbed to a bunch of threads while trying to check them is really frustrating. And yes, you can always unsub, but it's a hassle if you're unsubbing from a bunch of threads you were checking for rule breaks and such.

Oh, I didn't notice that people do that..... That's actually a very rude move from them =/

Mods should forbid this indeed....

Then if that is the case, why don't you make a suggestion that they ban these type of links instead of creating a pop-up box? I still stand by my opinion that you could just simply click unsubscribe. If there are many threads, the amazing mass select and delete option stands with tick boxes. I don't really see it as much of a hassle, being someone who is constantly subscribing and unsubscribing to threads.

Because, frankly, I would prefer an automatic system like a simple pop up box be implemented, rather than us 'treat' the problem with more unnecessary warnings and bans. The entire problem can be eliminated with the introduction of a code-based solution. Why wouldn't you want to save people that time unsubscribing?

I agree Fea!
It's very frustrating when people put the link in sales with subscription attached and we do not have a choice to be subscribed, but are-Automatically.It's really really annoying and I'd like it to change.

Im all for more confirmation boxes xD Id also like an option to disable autosubscribe to threads I post in, since I post in a lot and then end up subscribed to a ton. Having to unsubscribe each one can get to be a pain.

Confirmation boxes would be annoying. These rude people would annoy us with or without the box. This is why I vote for punishment.

Confirmation of subbing would be awesome. It's so frustrating to clean out all the threads I get subbed to in a day, just from checking links from the chat boxes.

One confirmation box is a lot less irritating than having to go through all your subs to check whichever ones you've been auto subbed to without your knowledge. It would make no sense to continue to allow it to happen programmatically and create extra work for the mods, and another reason to earn and punish people. We could literally eliminate the problem entirely with a confirmation.
