I agree with the more birds one, however this is LIOden, a game based around a lion pride, other animals don't work the same way

Tbh I feel like the game would be a lot more in-depth if there were more birds. There's plenty of other animals--humans, confusingly-named beetles, no end to prey animals. So if more birds WERE added to the game, it could be simple ones (robins, sparrows), and they could have really simple situations. For example, a hunting party can bring back a few birds as prey (and not just one--I'm assuming if they're added as prey they will be single use only and not restore much hunger), bird carcasses can be found in Explore, and more types of bird feathers can be found while exploring. It wouldn't take away the lions aspect, it would just heighten the variety of other animals you can encounter. (Insert cheesy ending like 'therefore I fully vouch my support this addition to Lioden' here)

I feel like both could be good, and maybe some bigger birds as prey? Such as Secretary Birds!
