Sorry if this is in the wrong board, I wasn't sure where to put it!

I have been a full time art student for several years now and have just finished college. I now have some free time and would like to do some commissions! Although I have no idea where to start as I have never made an online portfolio! So I was wondering if people who have done this for a while could help me out! What kind of prices do you charge? What sort of things are in your portfolio? What kind of rules do you have? etc etc. Thanks in advance!

It depends on your art. Do you have any examples? Really good or realistic head shots are about 5-10 GB, while a full body would be around 9-10. But it really depends on the person selling the art. People sell traditional and digital, so which one do you do? Or do you do both?

Hi! So some things to think about, is that most here will wanna do SB/GB but some will do paypal. I always make paypal top priority for those that pick to pay that way.

Headshots/Busts typically run 10gb, and that's typically colored. If that's too low for you, then do 10gb for the headshot/bust sketch and 12gb for the added coloring.

Plain, like quick messy sketches, typically 5-7gb depending on the complexity of character.

You'll want to have links or shown images of your examples. So Sketches, Headshots, colored and not colored.

I have a friend that takes EXP Items as payment instead. EXP items, breeding items, and the like to help your king/pride helps others that may not have gb or sb to spare.

Hope this helped! :D

@Star - Hi there! No not currently formatted pieces but I do both digital and traditional art! I can do most styles, including realism and the like. I will have to do some more lion based pieces I think as a lot of my artwork for college lately has been hyperrealistic nude art which may not be suitable for Lioden I'll get onto doing some lil headshots of my own lions as examples I think :)

@Singing - Oh ok! Hm, so I should really set up a paypal. Do I just set up an account and then give them the link to it or something? Sorry if that seems silly i've never used it before! Hm ok! I can do that, thank you, it did help! :)

You set up the account and then Message them privately with your link or connected email for them to use :]

I also have a slew of characters if you'd ever like to use them for practice art!

@akkarin - with paypal, all you need to do is give the person the email you set up the account with and they can send the money over.
some really useful sites (so you dont have to list all the work on your topic and clog it up!) is the free portfolio website called Behance and DeviantArt (most people use this one). Stuff like this is wonderful for clients on and off the computer.

Just a little tip on safety here; through experience not everyone will pay. That's why it's such a good idea to give only a preview of the work when it's complete, send the image/screenshot to them and get confirmation that they're satisfied. I know this seems like a huge faffle, but it's worth it in the end. To begin with, if it's a PayPal commission, I always get confirmation in writing before I begin the piece of art. e.g. When doing a £20+ commission I like to get a statement from the user saying they have confirmed the transaction between us and that I am now free to start drawing, knowing that they are now obliged to pay me in the end. This has saved me so much trouble!

This is my store I have on here (que's commissions) and this is my art blog, where I keep sketches and unfinished work as well as complete (zaroqueart.tumblr.com, so it's a lot more unrefined like my behance!). What other people have said here about in-game currency seems really fair, and it's always best to have a few pieces behind your belt to show as a preview and how wide ranging your knowledge is. c;

I do have some rules, mostly are do not remove my signature afterwards or benefit from my art by selling it. In one case, I had finished a commission and went on to sell it commercially, but beforehand I told the person who commissioned me (which you are not obliged to do, I thought it was just decent) that I was making prints for galleries, which all seemed fine.

a guide on keeping your art safe

Good luck! I also have just finished art college, yipee.
