Almika ✘ Mare ✘ 1 Years & 5 Months ✘ Driftwood Herd ✘ Mentions: N/A
The wind howled quietly around the herd of horses, the snow glistening underneath heavy hooves. With one swift movement, the yearling was off, her hooves pounding heavily upon the snow-covered terrain as she zigzagged across the field, her back legs kicking up into the air as she let out a playful whinny. It was a bit rare to not get a snowy day where her herd lived, so, it was quite normal for the horses, except Almika. If the filly was being honest, she was quite happy that it had snowed. This was actually her first snow day, and she was extremely excited to see how things worked out, even if it did end up with the herd in a bad situation like right now. Lowering her head, the yearling snaked over to one of the older mares sides, the chosen mare being Tuwa, Almika didn't speak to however, instead, she watched very closely as the older mare pushed her muzzle through the snow, revealing a small patch of grass that had barely been sticking up out of the heavy blanket of snow and ice. The filly blinked as she watched the mare eat the grass, though, her focus was soon directed on the ground. Trying to copy the older mare, Almika lowered her muzzle to the ground, wincing as the piercing cold snow made direct contact with her delicate nostrils, though, she continued to push it forward, feeling quite proud of herself when she found a bit of hidden grass underneath.
Tuwa ✘ Mare ✘ 8 Years and 7 Months ✘ Driftwood Herd ✘ Mentions: Almika
Lifting her head from her snack, the mare watched closely as the yearling, Almika, quickly copied her, earning a loving laugh out of the older mare when she winced at how cold to the touch the snow was. The mare nudged the yearling, getting her attention almost instantly "Maybe you should try a simpler way next time.....here, let me show you." pulling out one of her front hooves, the mare gently pulled the snow toward her, revealing a small clump of grass that had been frozen underneath the snow "See, now you don't have to feel the cold snow go down your nostrils when you breathe." the mare chuckled at the yearlings enthusiasm as she continued to dig up grass, though, soon losing interest and trotting away, a smile plastered across her face. At least Tuwa made someone happy. Lowering her head back down, Tuwa continued to push away the snow, grazing slowly on the little grass that was provided to her. In this type of season, it was important to eat your food slowly, so you would get fuller quickly and not eat everything in sight so nobody else could have any, though, in the spring all the grass would return, and they could eat as much as they'd like. Sighing, the mare watched closely as her breath came up in a cloud of fog and evaporated right in front of her eye's.
