PILGRIMAGE - APPLICATIONS
A Literate-Advanced Warriors Roleplay

Mod: InsertCleverNameHere

Even if I've met you, I ask that you apply first. I am most inclined to accept those who can write a reasonable amount with correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure that will not try and control other characters and aspects of the roleplay. I reserve every right to reject your application, especially if you're applying for a high rank.

DEPUTY (Dewclan)

A storm is brewing overhead and thunder lights up the canopy. While your clan is not normally afraid of the rain, lightning is understandably concerning when you live in the trees. You instruct the Warriors to gather the apprentices and make sure they're safe, but the Leader is nowhere to be seen. in this weather, there's no telling what could happen. Do you look for her yourself or send a patrol, knowing full well that either plan might end in disaster?

Medicine Cat/ MC Apprentice (Dewclan)

You have been sent on a journey to collect more ingredients, including olives and cherries. Finally, after an hour of searching, a lone olive tree sits in the middle of a crowd of trees. The problem is, the one clutch of olives you can see hangs over a clearing ten feet up the tree. Climbing the branch might be precarious, as the twig the fruits dangle from is thin and brittle. How will you decide to gather these elusive medicines?

Medicine Cat Apprentice (Dryclan)

Your mentor, Redfern, has asked you to fetch a cactus blossom for her medicine, but you know full well the dangers of a desert cactus. Ahead of you, in the hot sand, you see the pink spark of a flower. Problem is, it's atop a cactus that's about five times as tall as you are long. What's more, you see the subtle movement of a sidewinder snake moving by the plant. Will you attempt to snag the flower or move on, knowing that you may not find another?

Warrior Apprentice/Warrior (Dewclan)

You are a young Dewclan cat. As is in your nature, you have wandered a ways away from the training session only to find yourself high up and face-to-face with an angry raccoon. There isn't much in the way of a safe way out, but you are close to the trunk of the tree. Will you try to scale down the tree, fully aware that you could easily meet your demise or attempt to fight the raccoon and face the possibility of an equally foreboding end?

Warrior Apprentice/Warrior (Dryclan)

The Dryclan group has reached a section of the desert in which you have a perfect view of your old home. The canyon in which you once lived is now a raging river. After minutes of mourning silence, a very familiar voice fills your ear, speaking your name. Your heart leaping into your throat, you turn quickly to see Treepelt, your long-time best friend. Excitement fills you for a moment, as you thought him dead, but your face falls as you notice his enraged expression. He leaps toward you, claws outstretched. "You abandoned me!," he yowls, attacking you fiercely. What is your response?

Elder (Dryclan/Dewclan)

Annoying as ever, a dastardly young apprentice bites your tail and swipes at your ears. By now, the troublemaker imagines that he can get away with anything. The kit swipes at your face again, but now, his claws are fully unleashed, marring your already scarred fur once more. On any normal instance, it would not be unexpected for you to punish this harshly. One problem though, this particular male is the son of a highly revered warrior with a rather short temper. If you lay a paw on his son, he would likely not be very happy with you. Do you take the chance or let it go?

DC Medicine Cat Apprentice Prompt
Intended Rank: DC Medicine Cat

A gentle breeze flowed through the trees, rustling the branches softly in reply to the clear mockingbird calls. Frostpaw purred slightly around the bundle of herbs in her mouth; as quiet as her steps were, the wildlife that would normally hide at the sign of a cat ignored her. She had no intention to hunt anyway. In fact, the white furred female only needed one more herb before she could go back to camp. Alternately glancing at the forest floor in front of her and up at the trees, the apprentice stopped when she saw what she needed.

It was the only olive tree she had seen that day. Carefully, she set the herbs down on a flattish rock so it would be eaily located again, and approached the tree. Moonstone colored eyes searched the boughs for the precious fruit, and narrowed when they only found one cluster. Too far to be easily accessed, it was hanging above a clearing. A delicate sigh escaped her lips, and Frostpaw sat down to study the cluster. Forget not easily gotten, it would be downright difficult; the apprentice wasn't likely to find another anytime soon, however, and she wanted to go back.

Wind whipped up her long fur, and Frostpaw blinked, getting an idea. Eager to try it, she jumped up and went to the tree. Claws sunk into the bark as she carefully began her way up towards the olives. The branches got narrower as the white cat climbed, eventually tapering into ones too small for her to safely perch on. One such branch held the fruit. Stretching out, Frostpaw grabbed the thin branch in her forepaws, and dug her back claws into her perch, before pressing up and down.

The cluster began to bounce up and down, shaken by her effort; the wind chose that moment to pick up, causing the apprentice to brace herself more, but also providing the last bit of force to break the olives' stems. Frostpaw watched wide-eyed as they fell, a hint of a smile of her muzzle, before turning to claw her way down the tree. Other than a minor slip of a paw, he way down was uneventful; the white cat dashed over to inspect her herbs, and was pleased to see that they really weren't too bruised by the fall. She hoped they'd still be acceptable. With a flick of her tail, she snatched them up in her jaw, then turned to grab the rest of her bundle. Once she had, all herbs carefully positioned so that nothing would be lost, Frostpaw set off back for camp, her tail helf high behind her.

DewClan Warrior Apprentice / Warrior Prompt
Intended Rank: Warrior

The young she-cat's eyes carefully trailed along the training apprentices, the cat's tail quietly swishing against the branch just below her. She'd already seen the moves the others were practicing, and though she should stay and study their movements, she found herself growing bored of watching the other cats bat at each other. Casting a glance towards the rather occupied older cat at her side, the pale pelted she-cat slipped away from the others and higher up into a neighboring tree. Watching from a new perspective would be maybe a bit more interesting even if she knew it would give her quite the scolding.

After going up one branch, the cat found she wanted to test herself. Heaving herself up the next one, higher and higher she would go, not looking down. Heights didn't scare her, of course not. It was more the fall that she could have that made her a bit queasy. One more branch up, she heard a strange, almost like gargling sound behind her. It wasn't until she turned around did her fur prickle, a loud gasp escaping the young cat as she found herself pressing against the tree trunk.

The raccoons loud angry grumbling had her stepping back, only for her body to jolt forward as she realized she no longer had anywhere behind her to step. A low hiss escaped her jaws, swiping at the raccoon to keep it back. She knew she didn't want to fight this thing, not way up here, though with one glance down she found her stomach in a knot. With a deep breath, she chose to have faith in her climbing.

Carefully stepping backward, she pressed her paw against the bark of the trunk, claws sinking into it. It would be faster to simply drop down onto a branch, but could it survive her weight? She didn't get a chance to choose, a swipe from the raccoon prompting her to duck, then loosen her grip on the bark, sending her downward. With a twist of her body and flail of her tail, she landed on the branch roughly, hearing a large crack as it slowly began to dip downward.

Above her she could hear the scrambling of raccoon paws, causing her to hop to a closer, more stable branch and carefully watch the movement of the leaves above. Seeing that she had bit of a head start thanks to the short fall, she continued to travel downward, however even with each leap of a branch, the paws seemed to be getting closer.

A sudden weight on her back had the branch below her snapping, claws flailing for any sort of grip she could muster, just managing to scrape them against the trunk of the tree before slamming roughly into a branch just below her, landing on her side. Awkwardly twisting her body, she wrapped her arms around the branch, dangling below it. She took a moment to scan for the raccoon, panting s she tried to right herself. Below her she heard grumbling, but it faded away after a few moments.

With her heart beating so loudly she could feel it in her own ears, the she-cat clung to the branch, attempting to catch her breath as the scrawny branch lightly dipped. Ah, she just wanted to rest here forever. Or at least until her heart-beat became normal again.

@ Hawkmask ~ Wonderful! You're accepted, just keep in mind that Dewclan cats live exclusively in the trees and rarely touch ground.

Dewclan warrior apprentice prompt.

Moonpaw darted off from the group growing tired of watching the others train before starting to climb up a tree before she realized that midway up there was a very angry mama raccoon, green eyes widening she backed up watching as the raccoon snarled and took a step forward, thinking quickly Moonpaw swiped at the Raccoon's face before quickly beginning her decent down the tree slipping a little and launching herself the rest of the way down landing a bit heavily and stumbling before taking off not looking back to see if you being followed, darting back into the training area you run straight into your mentor and give them a sheepish look as you notice how mad they are at you.

Dewclan Elder prompt.

DarkStream jumped as she felt a bite on her tail looking back she was met with a paw swiping her ears, Flipping her ears back she growls at the rude cat that had bit your tail and swiped your ears. Noticing it was THAT warriors kit she hold off on punishing the kit and go to turn away but the kit swipes at her face catching her with unleashed claws at this she whips around snarling at the kit nipping it a little, she didn't care who it's dad was, the kit had no right to do such things to any of it's clan mates no matter who it's parents are. If the kits sire had a problem with it then she would deal with it but until then she was not going to take the kit's tormenting before the kit was completely out of range of hearing she growled out to the kit "Be glad you aren't a warrior yet, otherwise you might have been exiled for that." She hoped that would scare the kit straight as she went to lay back down and wait to see what happens.

@True - I'm sorry, but I don't think you'll fit this RP. I require a high understanding of grammar and, in that same vein, punctuation. Neither of your prompts exhibit the understanding of correct grammar and punctuation that I am looking for. Sorry.

Dewclan Medicine Cat Position:
You have been sent on a journey to collect more ingredients, including olives and cherries. Finally, after an hour of searching, a lone olive tree sits in the middle of a crowd of trees. The problem is, the one clutch of olives you can see hangs over a clearing ten feet up the tree. Climbing the branch might be precarious, as the twig the fruits dangle from is thin and brittle. How will you decide to gather these elusive medicines?

Lithe legs and dainty footsteps had brought Sandflower almost to the edge of Dewclan territory. Even from within the boundaries, Sandflower could smell wafts of rogue cats. This was a dangerous place for most, but not for a warrior. They'd been trained to handle anything, including brazen strangers. However, Sandflower was not a warrior. He was a medicine cat, and his position as someone who didn't fight or hunt suddenly seemed particularly risky. Even now he might be stalked by rogues, desperate for the bounties of medicine their territory provided. If one of them attacked, what could he do? He'd been a healer his whole life. The worst he could do is throw some deathberries at them and hope they choked. He wasn't a fighter. His body was meant for anything but battle. Long legs, slender body, hardly a hint of muscle. A strong breeze could knock him over. Yet, here he was, on the border, like some mousebrained kit.

A soft sigh escaped Sandflower's mouth. He had to be brave. The clan's medical supplies were dwindling, and this was the only olive tree he knew of for miles. The only issue was where it was planted. The scattering of trees all bent over a large chasm, as if they were looking down on the animals lost below. Their branches spread like a canopy over the drop, but their shade never touched the bottom. The wind caused them to strain further and further over the cliff, their roots holding them in place like claws dug into the earth. One tree in particular seemed to be barely holding on. Its whole body swayed and staggered, lurching back when it strayed too far. Its branches stretched far over the cliff, and at the very ends of their twigs lay a small bounty of olives. Reason tugged at Sandflower, urging him to give up and head back, but he couldn't. He needed those tiny green fruits.

At first, Sandflower circled the tree, his paws pressing at the strained roots and watching as the tree buckled back towards him. It was barely hanging on. His yellow eyes turned skyward and crunched shut, offering a quick request for safety from Starclan. He sure hoped they'd heard him. After all, he wasn't a leader, he didn't have 9 lives, he only had this one. With deft paws, Sandflower bundled his gatherings together and stuffed them into a pile of rocks. In case worst came to worst, at least his findings wouldn't be lost to the gorge too. He found the largest rocks he could move and pushed them over onto the roots, weighing them down. The tree seemed to perk up, as if it could be rescued from its position.

Once he'd made a decent stack, Sandflower tested his paws against the trunk. It bent, but didn't sway. The rocks seemed to be holding it. Gently and carefully, he pressed his claws into the bark and began to climb. The higher he got, the more the tree bowed its limbs further out, but it held. Every part of him wanted to race up, but he knew that slowly would be best. He made his way to the first branch and followed its lead out over the drop. Looking down, the ground below seemed so very far away. Sandflower gulped and continued to edge his way out towards the olives. The branch clearly hadn't supported more than a sparrow, and it creaked more and more the further he went. Twigs snapped in his wake, falling down into the abyss. He tried not to think about alike his bones were to sticks. Eventually he was as far as he could safely go. The rest of the branch looked frail, but they held what he needed. He couldn't reach them, not without stretching and loosing his grip on the limb. He grit his teeth, irritated. The whole reason he was out here was because of these olives. Suddenly, an idea sparked. Leaning forward, he sharply brought his teeth together around the twig. He chomped and chewed until, finally, it snapped. He didn't need to get the olives if he could get the whole stick they grew on. He gave a proud wiggle and the tree groaned with protest. The branch he was on made a sharp cracking noise and he felt it move below his paws. Oh no. With the stick clasped in his teeth, he scampered back along the branch. It jerked to the left but he dug his claws in and held on. His wide eyes darted towards the trunk, watching as the roots began to brush away his rock pile. The tree was going down, and it was determined to take him with it. He abandoned his branch, leaping to a sturdier one. He heard the limb crash along the cliff's rocky sides. As he reached the trunk, the roots gave out, strained too far by the weight. They snapped, sending threads of fibre out like spores. Sandflower leapt, his legs sending the tree down to its doom. He landed sprawling on the dirt as the tree crunched and broke down its way to the earth far below. Though exhausted with fright, Sandflower quietly unburied his herbs and added the olive branch to the pile. He made a mental note to plant a new tree somewhere less dangerous. He wouldn't be alive to see it bare fruit, but very little of what he did was for himself. It was all for the good of the clan.

Warrior Apprentice (DewClan)

"No, you should have used a belly rake! That was a perfect opening! What are you doing?!"

Irritation flared in the young tom's chest at the sight of his denmates' pathetic sparring; he had counted at least three strikes missed in the last few minutes. He and the other apprentices had been training for quite a few moons, how could they miss something so obvious? The dark tom had to dig his sharp and well-trained claws into the tree bark to refrain from interfering with the fight, biting his tongue as a low growl escaped his vocals. He had to get away from here before he done something he'd regret. The tom was desperate to become a warrior, but he'd made a promise to his littermates he wouldn't receive his warrior name before them. A promise was hard to keep. The tabby rose to his paws and turned, informing their mentor he was heading off the tom crouched and leaped over to the next branch. His balance was steadied quite easily, but he did lean forward just a bit from the force. "Stupid... Stupid I say!" The apprentice hissed to himself, letting his frustrations off into the air as he bounded away from the training session. Relief washed over him the further he got from his denmates. Their warrior ceremony was in less than a moon! How could they be so oblivious?! The tom sighed as he hopped down to the trunk of the tree, his piercing amber eyes staring down at the ground below. Only once had he felt the soft grass under his paws; and that was only because he'd retreated to the ground for a brief moment to bounce off into another tree as an attempt to avoid an angry mama bird. "That bird was huge..." He thought, remembering the encounter.

At first he was going to kill it and bring it home, then he seen the size of the feathery creature. A big nope! He lowered himself to the damp bark covering the tree branch and sheathed his claws. The sight of the ground below him seemed to beckon him down into the moss, but he remained in the tree. The tom's ears twitched at the sound of hissing above him and horror rushed over him; he was in the perfect position to be pounced on! He was vulnerable! He sat up and his amber eyes slowly rose to see a furious raccoon just over his head. The creature's eyes were lit up with absolute fury, its jowls agape and its fur slightly puffed out. It was not happy with the young tom in his tree. "Good afternoon!" A cheerful voice came from the apprentice's vocals and he gave his possible opponent a sweet smile, "You seem to be quite angry," a smirk formed his lips, "care to explain why?"

The raccoon lunged at the apprentice and panic rushed through him; he quickly retreated to the very edge of the limb. His eyes stared at the ground below and he sighed, glancing at the raccoon and unsheathing his claws to grip the branch as the animal crept towards him. "Look, buddy," a nervous smile came to his features, "can't we just talk this out?" Either way he moved, he knew he could easily die. Raccoons aren't exactly the kind of creature the young tom would want to mess with. A hiss and a growl from his enemy gave him his answer. "Okay, that's a no." He muttered as he lowered his body to the branch. One unbalanced move and it would all be over. His eyes scanned for a possible way to avoid a fight; unfortunately the only escape route was over the angry animal.

A crack appeared in the wood. He had to make his decision quick; he sighed and took in a deep breath, his body flew over the raccoon and the tom braced himself for a possible knock down. His opponent sat up and slapped a large paw across the tom's side. Thankfully, he twisted his body just the right way and landed on a thin branch just below. With no time to recover from the bruise forming on his side, he quickly dodged another blow from the creature. A quick answer to his problem was a stretching out his paw and slicing his claws across the raccoon's face. "See ya, buddy!" The tom yowled as he rammed his head into the distracted animal's chest and retreating a few trees away within a couple leaps. That could have gone horribly wrong in so many ways...

He half expected the raccoon to leap up and attack him as he turned to head back to his Clan, and hopefully visit the medicine cat.

{{ Gah it's horrible, kill it! }}

DEPUTY (Dewclan)

Palefang faced the brewing storm unflinchingly, his balance kept as torrential rain pelted his face and strong winds buffeted his narrow frame. A flash of lightning caught between the branches shielding them from the worst of the thunderstorm lit up the frightened faces of his Clanmates, warriors ushering apprentices and elders back to the safety of their dens as instructed. Sparrowstar was nowhere to be found, Palefang's dark blue gaze searching for her among the trees in vain. His claws sank deep into the thick branch beneath his paws as another gust of wind rushed toward him, threatening to knock the slim tom from his perch. "Palefang!" The voice of his mother Swantail beckoned, frantic and full of fear. "Come back with the rest of us! It's not safe out here!

Palefang was young, Young enough that many of the senior warriors privately questioned why Sparrowstar had chosen him over the more experienced warriors Dewclan had to offer, but not foolish enough to believe himself invincible. Careful pawsteps led him back to the warriors den, Swantail at his side, her own paws sliding on the slippery bark. A yowl of alarm escaped the colorpoint she-cat as she suddenly lurched sideways, nearly falling to her death before Palefang's teeth met in her scruff, pulling her back onto the branch with all his strength. She was reasonably shaken by the experience, her whole body trembling as they entered the den. Though Swantail had lived with the Clan longer than himself she had been born a kittypet and it seemed at times as if she would never adjust to life as a wild cat. She was Dewclan's clumsiest warrior.

His sister Feathercloud rushed to comfort her and Palefang's attention was once more captured by the fact Sparrowstar was not here. He padded to the den entrance, sitting back on his haunches as a cream colored tailed wrapped around his paws. They couldn't leave her to fend for herself in weather like this. She could be hurt or in danger, and though she had more lives than any other cat to spare what kind of deputy would he be to leave his leader to such a fate? Searching for her himself would put less cats at risk, but ultimately he concluded that option was the most foolish. He could just as easily become injured or lost in the forest by himself. It would likely prove wiser to utilize the skills and support of a patrol. "We must find Sparrowstar," he announced at last, rising to his paws. He met few mews of protest, only his mother's weak voice begging him to stay, and relief washed over him. He was in no mood for arguing tonight. "Feathercloud, Pebblesplash, Tigerstripe, let's go."

He stepped back outside, waiting for his chosen cats to assemble around him. Once everyone had gathered he led them deeper into their territory, the first to test every branch for any sign of weakness before allowing his Clanmates paws to touch it and ready to grab the scruff of any cat who slipped. Sparrowstar's scent, and any scent for that matter, was lost to them in the rain. They would have to rely on their senses of sight and hearing alone. Palefang hadn't been blessed with the sharpest sight, but his large ears could pick up even the slightest hint of movement, or so he claimed when convincing the kits he would hear them should they attempt sneaking out of the nursery. Straining to hear anything through the pounding rain, Palefang silently vowed he would not return to camp without Sparrowstar. Even if they had to search all night.

((Picked some random names from the character sheets for the patrol beyond Palefang's sister. Hope that was alright. Tried to be vague about what the rest of the patrol was up to.))

Medicine Cat Apprentice (Dryclan)
Turtlepaw was a pretty young cat so he was not very tall so when Redfern had told him to get a dangerous cactus blossom his blood froze. He wanted to make him mentor happy but he knew he was going to have to risk him own life to do that. He soon got the courage to go out to the dry desert land and he saw the bright flower but he was a ant compared to it and then he saw a sidewinder snake slithering right be it to make things better! He truly didn’t want to die because one chem is gone no one will be able to get it so he dropped down on his belly and snuck up to the snake but it saw him first. He arched his back to make himself look bigger thst what he really was and unsheathed his claws and swiped at it hissing but soon the snake backed off and slithered off to a rock. Turtlepaw let out long sigh but soon noticed he still had another problem to deal with... the cactus is way bigger than him and covered in sharp needles thst could rip him fur with out even trying. He shook himself off and let out a pray to starclan to protect him and he launched himself as high as he could and did scrape some of his belly fur but he grabed the cactus in his theeth and landed with a THUD o the dry land. He gulped in the air and searched his whole body for any neddles and plucked a few out and grabbed the cactus and padded back to camp with his tail held high proud of himself that he overcame his fears and was going to make his mentor happy.
