There is... a lot of different canines. Based off of what you already have, your blue lines speak of a Doberman-Windhound while the red lines lean towards a stockier, almost Rottweiler mix. What did you have in your head when you started sketching?

My species is loosely based on wolves, but there's also a large fantasy-type element to them that would allow for less strict "guidelines," for lack of a better word. I'm mainly having trouble with the legs and shoulders.

For species designs, you want the initial reference to typically be a sideview. Not a 3/4 or frontal view like you have. It makes the design harder to see and harder for future artists to draw from. I'd say pick a running/trotting sideview pose for the best possible outcome.

deertush - I've already got the initial design done, this one is for a header/personal character/"mascot." The one I use for the actual species is a full side-view.
