Plot:
When people were suddenly able to dismember and put themselves back together the world wanted to know why very few people were able to do this. It was discovered that they had all been declared legally dead just days before, the death caused by a wide variety of things. When those effected by this odd phenomenon had their spines damaged, they would finally die properly, that being the only way to kill them.

When the second wave of these people came into existence, something was wrong. They had some sort of illness that caused them to attack animals at random. This only got worse with the third wave. They began to attack people at random and no one could tell why.

One moment they would be normal and the second they would tear someone apart. After the tenth and final wave, the vast majority of the human population was eliminated, mainly scientists or those who knew how to defend themselves.

Keegan was part of the tenth wave of 'zombies'. He was like the others, able to survive nearly everything anyone threw at him, although he was able to hold onto his humanity much longer then any others that had been found. His mind had deteriorated over time, but he still had no desire to kill, only survive.

Option 1:
(Character) ends up coming across Keegan, who know goes by Strain, and the two need to work together to survive. Over time the two end up falling for each other but they still need to survive until they can get him to a scientist to figure out what he was and how to fix it.

Option 2:
(Character) and Keegan had been best friends since high school. After the 'zombies' began to attack people they banded together with a few of their other friends. During an attack all but (character) were killed leaving them to survive on their own. When Strain awoke a few days later he set out to find (character), noticing they weren't among the dead.
When they finally found each other, (character) was weary of him, having seen him die. Strain was different from the Keegan they knew, although he still held the same affection for (character). They two learned that he doesn't hold the 'illness' that the others of his kind have and is just like the first wave, an enhanced human. They decide that they could help with finding a cure and decide to go in search of what remains of the government.
