i agree with @GracePaws - because you're losing energy in a battle, so you should get more profit. 3-5 HS would be great

Yeah, getting at least 2 Heart Shells from this encounter would make more sense. I mean, the Leopard and Tiger encounter gives multiple, so I see no reason that this one shouldn't also.

so i complained in a discord lioden group about this and someone said this post existed so have the image to show how awful this is!!


you could even just take away the SB altogether and make it 3-5 HS as a prize
also maybe instead of 'demand shells' have a
'Blackmail Lion' and he gives you 2-3HS to 'keep quiet' about the stash
i'd also love to see some kind of heart shell decor (like the mound in the pic) maybe a small chance to win that or some scattered heart shells decor (like the silver/gold beetle decor)

I always found it odd that you can pick up 3 HS from winning a fight with the leopard and tiger when there are none in sight. Yet you defeat the lion with a huge pile of HS and he only gives you 1 every time.

personally I think this should be a larger amount than 1-3, as he is described as hoarding and it's fairly irritating that you lose 10 energy for a small amount of heart shells, overall I still support this but I would personally make the amount higher.

Ah, I was going to suggest this too! He's HOARDING SHELLS, he should give a lot more shells. 1 is absolutely insane- on a win I would say FIVE TO TEN and on a loss maybe the 1-3 shells like average. He has a ton of them, and if we win and he runs off, 5-10 would logically be the amount that fits in lion paws.

Maybe even make the encounter rarer to balance for that. But 1 just isn't right.

I made a suggestion for the same thing before seeing this!

I did give a suggestion to have an option where you don't fight him, and instead ask for advice:

Give an option to not fight and instead "Ask for advice/tips" about how he got so many HS already. Maybe a flavor text like,

"You stare at the pile in amazement as the lion stares back at you, terrified that you'll try to steal his precious bounty; however, you don't want to steal, you just want to know how he accumulated so many in such little time!

You two spend some time discussing tactics of gathering heart shells, the use of roasted lambs vs red bulls, and pick up some new tips from him. As a thank you for not trying to steal from him he gives you a few from his pile and you go on your way.

What a generous fellow! Guess he's not much of a hoarder after all!

im gonna say, i like the idea of a peaceful option too! energy is precious in february especially and the fact that you have to spend 10 energy to get 1 heart shell (and thats assuming you can consistently win).

id definitely say for winning the battle it should be at least a consistent 3 hs. 1 hs is way too little for 10 energy and the risk of losing and wasting your energy on nothing.

some other ideas for a peaceful option

(good karma option?) - "negotiate" - give him a few sb, and who knows, maybe he'd be a little more willing to push a few shells your way (sort of like the zorilla encounter than asks you for 10sb)

(neutral karma option?) - "ask where he got them" - and maybe he'll show you the secret place he found all these

(bad karma option?) - "threaten" - maybe you can tell him you'll tell everyone where his shell stash is if he doesn't pay for your silence. it may be blackmail, but it's also free heart shells for you!

idk these were just a few that i came up with off the top of my head. obviously not all 3 at once but id like to see a non battle option too if theyre not going to raise the heart shell pay for the battle
