Mewepak (meh-weh-pak)

These creatures are called Mewepak. The males are usually colourful compared to the females and have a bright coloured patch on their neck. This coloured patch is used to court females during their mating season. Older, more experienced males often have broken antlers due to fighting for females. Once a pair is mated, they tend to mate for life. There having been cases of 3-4 adults mating and living with one another.

Females have toned down colours, sometimes pastel colours but rarely. Their antlers are used to fend off predators. Males with brightly coloured patches are more desirable as they are usually healthier and stronger.

Usually only 1 or 2 baby Mewepak offspring are born, but in rare cases there are 3 or 4. No more than 4 have ever been recorded. Mothers will only have offspring once every 2 years unless their offspring are killed. Mating season is in the fall and they are pregnant for 5 months. Once the offspring are born they stay with their mother for a year before venturing off on their own.

Mewepak live in nests on the ground. They are mammals and birth their offspring live.
