So being new to the game and all I always seem to find a lioness, think shes worth nothing and sell her for cheap to find out later she was rare! I was thinking about it, and maybe could we have a rarity checker, say in wardrobe? Some sort of feature where you can put your lion/lioness into it and it'll spit back a percentage or an "uncommon, common, rare" sorta thing.
Any suggestions comment, and if you don't support, why? Thanks~

EDIT:

Perhaps instead have something in wardrobe.
~Maybe a link under markings so that new players get directed to chatter price checks?
~Wiki page?
~Redirect link under/near markings?

There are many types of combos that make a lion rare.
The market is also always changes and you never know what is going to rise up in value, or not.

There is already a Rarity for Bases.
In my opinion, you should just do your research on the Wiki and take your time learning the economy of Lioden.
You should also lock your lions just in case you chase/sell them by accident.

Sure it would be great! But think about the amount of work and algorithms that they would have to make to impliment such a feature, especially when the economy is always changing.

I'm going to have to say no support on this one.

@Deathlord

I'am aware of that, but for newer users it might be helpful to have an evaluation on it. Sure it'd take some work, but in the end it'd be worth it, also for the market ^u^ Thank you for your input however!

As said; rarity is always changing and depends on a plethora of factors. If you're new to the game, it shouldn't be the game's job to teach you what's rare or not: research for yourself by checking trades and asking other users. If we let the game decide what's valuable and how valuable a thing is... Well, I'm no economist, but it seems like a recipe for trouble.

How would a game feature be able to calculate rarity? If it goes by 'number of this in game'... Well, number of what variables? Almost every lion is bound to be unique if it takes every factor into account, but the problem us that nearly anything can contribute to value, so nothing is worth risking being left out. Sometimes it's a certain combination of markings (say, triple Rosettes) that make a lion valuable, or a base+marking combo (Sunset+Mottled Rosette) or mutation+stats and so on. I have no idea how one would code such a thing, but it's bound to be a lot more work than it's worth when we literally have an entire board for price checks. =P

Plus, rarity doesn't necessarily mean value. As of right now, we had many new custom markings introduced very recently; no one's had time to add them to their Kings yet so they're rare. But are they valuable? Nah, they're just custom markings anyone can add fairly easily.

The only things that really ever stay 'rare' are Rosettes, muties and Special Special bases, and even then a quick trade search for the first two shows that most of the 'oh drat this was actually rare' moments would only cost the newbie a handful of GB unless they got extreme lucky in the first place with, like, a new Rosette or a Lethal. Which are usually strange enough to prompt people to ask about the value of them in the first place.

To expect the devs to keep careful track of this mess of an economy and constantly update this feature with every new thing they introduce, which is nearly something new every week, is a lot to ask of them when they already give us weekly updates, too.

Everyone makes mistakes and sells things for too little at times; unfortunately, they've just got to learn with the rest of us and research before putting anything that looks unusual (why does my lion have spots? Why's that base called special? I've never seen this kind of mane before) on the market. ^^

Lioden is a really complex game, with a confusing economy for newbies, but unfortunately I don't believe there's an easy solution... definitely not this, at least. No support; sorry for the big paragraphs, just laying out my thoughts!

No don't apologize at all Agryo. I love the feedback. Everyone learns one way or the other, and I myself am learning. I had no clue Rossettes were rare until someone mentioned it into the normal chat. Thank you a ton for the feedback and you're right its pretty difficult at the moment to add in some sort of feature to determine rarity, but maybe later in the game when economy is a bit "better" etc theres a chance the mods can make something similar. I dunno. Thanks again though ^~^

Thank you! Sorry if the tone was a lil rough; typing on the phone makes 'crap I sound super serious' edits difficult! D=

I think the best solution would be some sort of incentive for people to give advice on Price Check threads, though that could be a mess of bad advice and all for a reward... or at least finally clean up the Wardrobe and have it show what markings/bases are breed only or combos or RMA and so on... rip, economies are complex; hopefully things can get better in the future! (After we survive Tigons)

True that! Hahaha I can't wait for Tigons to be honest. And yeah, maybe leave a note under markings that sends them to the check prices area? Even then though, I've put up lions to be priced checked and you don't always get a reply ;3; (lmao turning the forum into a chat, so sorry for that. Imma re-write my proposal I think, or just take it down. Thanks again for everyones feedback~)
