Balmerins are a godly race discovered when a rift was created between our world and their's. They appear to be a cross between a lion and a horse, but have calls similar to that of bears and eagles.

They are social creatures who dwell in groups called clans. In order for a clan to be true there must be at least five members. One must be female, and the remaining can be either male or female. On average a clan has two females, an empress and a queen. The empress is the sole leader and the queen enforces her command. Togther, they make decisions for the clan. 1 in every 10 balmerins born is female.

Females tend to be larger than males with short manes (horse). Due to their rarity, they are the most hostile and territorial of the species. During their seasonal heats, they will begin an intricate dance in front of a male who's scent appeals to them the most. After the dance they will run and wait for the male to chase. If he can prove his worthiness by catching her swift enough, she will lick his muzzle and they will begin courting with food and tokens. If he fails she will slash his face, marking him as a forever outcast.

Malaes are smaller than females with luscious manes (lion). They are passive and curious, often travelling alone or in bachelor cliques until they find a suitable clan. They are fertile year round and do not experience any ruts. During a female's seasonal heat they will try their best to impress the female when they are able to chase. To be deemed unworthy means they will NEVER be allowed to breed. Once a male is slashed he loses status and may be castrated by other males who hope to gain favor of the queen and empress.

Balmerins have large, occasionally intermingled territories. Territories only intermingled when empresses or queens, share a dam. There are temples placed in the direct center of each territory. Empresses live at the top, queens live a floor under, studs share a floor beneath the queens, and remaining pack members live on the various lower floors. It is not known how the temples were created, but they are massive and unbreakable.

A single balmery (female) sits on a high ledge over looking the others. You cannot see her eyes, but you are amazed by her unique pelt. She's three tones of blue, the brightest tones on her mane and tail fluff. Suddenly, she turns to face you, orange eyes radiating wisdom and power.

"Welcome to our world human. You must be exhausted and confused. I am a balmery balmerin, my name is Altian. Who are you?" Her voice is soft as silk and seems to be coming from your head. Did you hear her or think her? "I cannot speak your human words beyond the mind, I am indeed in your head but only to speak. You will not last long here alone. Down below you will find many balmerins. You can try to align yourself with a balmery, balmeror, or even a bali although it is highly discouraged. If they accept your offer they will guard you during your time in our realm. Good luck".

She vanishes or rather you're teleported (?) down below, her blue silhouette disappearing as she walks further away from the ledge. You look around and decide to obey her suggestion. This shouldn't be hard.
