Hi everyone! The last time I played, the genetics stuff was JUST coming out - and since then I've done a lot of studying due to frequenting roleplay forums for felines. Due to this I have some suggestions to the current system that I think a lot more people would like!

For the current genetics we'll be using a simplified table:

Red will become R
Red Solid will become RR
Red Countershaded will become Rr
(Dark is RRR, Medium will be RRr, and Light will be rrr)

Cream will become C
Cream Solid will become CC
Cream Countershaded will become Cc
(Dark is CCC, Medium is CCc, and Light is ccc)

Black will become B
Black Solid will become BB
Black Countershaded will become Bb
(Dark is BBB, Medium is BBb, and Light is bbb)

Gold will become G
Gold Solid will become GG
Gold Countershaded will become Gg
(Dark is GGG, Mediums is GGg, and Light is ggg)

For the example I will be using B! Although this is applicable to all genetic types, lets start!

Lets say you have a BB king and a BB lioness. This could be any Black Solid base (we haven't gotten to light, dark, or medium yet - or base rarities) - so for this we'll use the Jet base.

Jet (BB) x Jet (BB)
100% Black Solids

If we add in elements of gradient (Dark, Medium, Light) it will look like this

Jet (BB) Solid (BBB) x Jet (BB) Medium (BBb)
100% Black
50% Solid
50% Medium

Now we'll move onto base rarities, which I think is a subject that sorely needs touched upon.

A BB base with Special rarity bred to another BB base with Special rarity will have a 50% chance to pass on.
A BB base with Special rarity bred to another BB base with Rare rarity will have a 25% chance to pass on.
A BB base with Special rarity bred to another BB base with Uncommon rarity will have a 10% chance to pass on.
A BB base with Special rarity bred to another BB base with Common rarity will have a 1% chance to pass on.

So for example:
Interstellar (BB BBB Special) x Penumbra (Bb BBB Special)
50% Special
20% Rare
20% Uncommon
10% Common

50% Dark
50% Countershaded
All will be Black.

Interstellar (BB BBB Special) x Cinnabar (RR rrr Rare)
30% Special
30% Rare
20% Uncommon
20% Common

50% Dark
50% Light
50% Black
50% Red

You could argue that Black bases would pass on more commonly due to Black being a dominant gene. You could also argue that Red bases would pass on more rarely due to light colored genes (eg: human eye color, blue) passing on more rarely.

So with this theory a lion with black genetics could pass on their coat color more easily than a lion with red genetics. Theoretically, this could also be applicable to Gold and Cream, but I figured red was more suiting.

To summarize (TLDR), bases of higher rarity shouldn't have such an abysmal percentage to pass on their coat colors. In the very least they should have a higher chance to pass bases of equal rarity. This would help with the monopolization of bases, and enable an ease in breeding base projects. To counter this, more bases would likely need to be released however to fill the gap of "extremely rare" bases becoming more common and less sought after due to it. -- Or the economy could remain the same, I am no prophet!!

The Albino base should be removed entirely or renamed. It should have no chance of passing between two parents that cannot normally create it. Albino passes like a mutation, but with greater chance, and can make no sense coming from two Cream Dark lions when we already have a mutation like Achromia that could just be applied in it's stead if so desired. Same for Melanism.

I'd love to hear your guys' ideas on breeding and coat colors, and all feedback is welcomed. This is just me spitballing, so please don't be afraid to state your opinion. ♥

I think it is a logical idea, but I believe that with pass percentages that high, a lot of bases are gonna be more devalued than they should be. I would love if some bases were cheaper and easier to find and breed. However, it would imbalance the economy. For prices to stay the same for breeders, supply has to stay limited. If you flood the market with the influx of special bases, it stands to completely dismantle the supply curve. This is why some farmers have to destroy crop surpluses in order to keep prices up so that they stay making money. The bases on this game are similar to that, in order for people on here to profit from breeding, there has to be more rarity.

I also wanted to make note of the special circumstances with some bases, which are considered breed-only and have to have a parent with that base to pass. Not to mention, the combo bases and how those pass.

I like your ideas about genetics and how that should work, with dominant genes and that type of thing. I just think you might want to consider this.
