(Welp, I added a nightwing boi, I'll just use him instead. Be aware that right now I am suffering from writer's block so my rp is gross whoops)
Scarletnight blinked slowly at the moonlight that casted a quiet, solemn glow over their shadowed home, cat-like eyes narrowing in a predatory way at the egg that was currently being protected by some of his companions. The other dragons were guarding over the egg while Darkbringer is asleep, and Scarletnight flicked a long, sleek obsidian-colored tail over to rest nimbly on his slender body. He was tired, deeply tired of what was happening. Most of the other nightwings, he could tell, were also tired, their bodies showcasing barely visible outlines of their ribs, a reminder of the suffering they had gone through. Scarlet closed his eyes briefly, basking in the starry night, seemingly the only peaceful thing he was aware of at that time.

Darkbringer was fast asleep, looking as if he wasn't even breathing. Beetlebite sat straight and tall, his dark eyes were glued onto the egg and his ears were perked up as if waiting for any sudden noises. His tail was curled around his talons, which was currently digging into the ground harshly. He didn't show any emotion or tiredness on his face, almost as if he was a statue.

Scarletnight stood up so suddenly that it attracted the attention of the other dragons. He glared at them for a moment before stealthily gliding over to Beetlebite, his usually glossy, starry wings sagging under the weight of his sadness. "I'm going out for a walk," Scarlet said simply, his voice hoarse from lack of use. "Or a flight. I'll be fine, I was trained to be stealthy, remember?" Despite knowing it was most likely not allowed, he had to try. His muscles were aching for a flight, and the ache went farther than that- He wanted for this to end.

Beetlebite almost seemed as if he was far more interested in keeping at least one eye permanently on the egg than listen to what Scarletnight was saying. However, after a moment or two, he glanced towards him. "Id go with you." He said quickly and quietly. "But I don't want to upset Darkbringer. He told me to watch the egg." Whether Darkbringers instructions meant to watch the egg this intensely, Beetlebite wouldnt know, but he wasn't much of a risk-taker. He glanced an eye at the large sleeping dragon, then at the other dragons before planting them back onto the egg. He seemed anxious of something, most likely Darkbringer.

Scarletnight couldn't help at the smugness laced in his words.
"Of course, who wouldn't be afraid of Darkbringer here," He chuckled softly, his voice strangely too mature to be of a dragonet's. "I'll go. I need to excercise for once in my life." There was a tone of sadness in his last words before spreading his wings and lifting off, his flight as soundless as the still, scarce grass surrounding their temporary home.

What seemed like a few moments after, Darkbringer seemed to snort, getting up. Beetlebite tensed and made sure he looked alert and watching the egg. "Dragonets." Was all he scoffed before turning to Beetlebite. The thirteen-year-old dragon felt the older dragons eyes pierce into him. "You are relieved of duty, for now." He started, his voice not even showing hints that he was just sleeping. Beetlebite relaxed and turned to him. He was kinda glad Darkbringer wasn't snapping at him. "That dragonet was foolish. He's most likely going to lead some kind of Skywing patrol here if he's not careful. Or any dragon that's not one of us." He growled before snarling towards Beetlebite. "Why didn't you stop him?" Beetlebite didn't respond as soon as Darkbringer had hoped for, making him grow angrier. "Well?" The older dragon hissed. Beetlebite felt his scales feel hot and heavy and his breathing was going fast. He then forced himself to sit up straight and look Darkbringer in the eyes. "You shouldn't have to worry about Scarletnight. He's stealthy enough to know he should stay in the shadows." Beetlebite said, relieved he didn't stutter. Darkbringer didn't seem convinced. "If he returns, he's taking a turn on watching the egg." He grumbled before walking off and pacing around the small clearing near the cave the egg was hidden in. If! Beetlebite thought as a lump swarmed in his belly. He began to wonder if he should have stopped him.

Scarletnight swooped low to the ground, his talons hovering just above the muddy terrain. He almost collided with a twisted tree trunk, but managed to swerve to the left before he could have a new injury to tend to. Scarletnight muttered a curse once he landed on a pile of dried leaves, neatly tucked away beneath another tree as though a talon had shoved it aside.
"Huh," The dragonet examined the leaves for a moment, his head cocked to the side slightly in curiosity. "Seems like some dragon was here..."
He suddenly stiffened. "But this place is so close to our territory..." Scarlet lingered for a heartbeat longer before hearing shuffling, and two voices started speaking. The dragonet froze, wings tensing on either side of him as he silently and quickly hid himself beneath the shadows.
"Hey Icicle, do you ever wonder what happened to the Nightwings?"
A female voice, high and brittle, as though she was no older than 3 years old.
"I dont know," A tired, cold voice replied. "We dont have to worry about that. Those liars are gone for good."
Scarlet felt his right eye twitch at the offensive remark to his kind, feeling like he should defend his tribe. Years of taught self-control kept him from snapping and retaliating with his own witty comeback, but then again, there was some truth to it, as much as he hated to admit it.
What he was worried about though, was why there were dragons so close to their temporary home.
Scarletnight spread his wings once more, star-like speckles displayed on his underwings and glinting a bit. He was ready to quietly fly back and warn the others of a possible threat to their secret, but choked back a gulp as two Icewings came to view just in front of the bushes he were hiding in.
"Hey Arctic, is it just me or do I sense someone is here?"
Scarletnight immediately felt panic rise up to flood his common sense, and before he knew it, he dove deeper into the bushes, talons scraping up some dirt as he scrambled away from the two Icewings in panic.
He faintly heard the two dragons call out something, but he was already up in the air, wings madly pumping as he flew off into the night, not knowing a certain Icewing prince had already guessed what he was.
