Have you seen all those fancy marking recolor suggestions floating around, and now you want to make one of your own, but you don't know how? Well, look no further, this is the guide for you! If you want to suggest entirely new markings, you should go see Xylax's thread about it here. It has the PSD that you'll need. First things first, in order to recolor a marking, you'll need the PSDs. Well, lucky for you, I just slaved over them for three hours. These are all PNGs ripped straight from the site, and converted into PSDs for your editing convenience. The only marking types missings are ones I couldn't find a .png for in the Wardrobe, which is weirdly Ringed Markings, Waves Markings, and then some unreleased markings, like Hyena Blots and Hyena Unders. Additionally, the Hybrid Exclusive markings, Mottled Rosette and Mottled Stripes, are not included. Pick n Choose Version - For if you want just a few marking PSDs Marking PSD .rar folder - For if you want them all! Quickly go and download the file(s) you want, and then we'll continue in the tutorial. For this, I'll be using Paint Tool Sai 2, but you can use any program that supports .psd files. These include Medibang, FireAlpaca, Gimp, and many more free art programs. I'll be using the Zebra marking for this tutorial. First up, open your marking. You'll notice a few things, namely, a little lock symbol on layer one, and a little pink bar next to Layer 2.
What's next? Draw! I've decided to make a purple zebra marking. So I made it! Here it is. Since it's not going to be an actual marking suggestion, I added some fancy gradients. For your marking suggestion, it's best to keep it one color, unless you're translating a base into a marking! Make sure you save your marking as a PNG with a transparent background. This is easy to do, since as long as a PNG doesn't have a background (and it won't, as long as you don't add a background layer and forget to delete it), it automatically saves as transparent! Do you want to see your marking in action? No worries, you can, through the power of Inspect Element! The first thing you'll want to do is go slap that badboy onto Imgur or your photo sharing site of choice, and then hop into The Lion Wardrobe. Now, these PSDs are suited for the female neutral pose, meaning that they'll only work with neutral posed lions in the wardrobe. Now that you're in wardrobe, slap a random marking in Slot 1 on your neutral-posed lion. This isn't necessary, it's just so you can find it faster. Make sure that it is a body marking, not a mane marking.. Now, right click on your picture so that a menu pops up. You'll want to click where it says 'Inspect' A menu should pop up on the right side of your screen. It'll look weird, don't be scared by it! It should look like this. All you're going to do is scroll up until you find the name of the marking you chose to put on your lion. Since I put Auburn Rugged Rump in Slot 1, we're going to scroll up until we see "auburnruggedrump.png", if you chose a different marking, it'll be "markingname.png", it should be right under the base. Now let's turn our attention to the inspect element box. Double click on the link, here's what it'll look like when you've successfully done that!
What happens after you do that? Well, as soon as you click away from the highlight, your marking will have taken the place of the one that you input into the wardrobe. Nice, right? Now that you have this, you can use it to screenshot in order to show what your marking recolor will look like in game. Now I'm gonna answer a few common questions that might be had: Will you be making PSDs for other poses? Haha, no. What about Mane Markings? If the demand is high enough, yes! If I wanted to do something like an Ice Vitiligo, how would I do that? Find the Base PNG and copy and paste it to Layer 2. Those are easily found in inspect element, right above where the slot one marking would go. Alternatively, you could press ctrl + f and search for the base's name. There should only be three instances, and the first one will be the PNG. It'll be perfectly sized, just make sure that if your drawing program automatically puts pastes on a new layer like Paint Tool Sai does, just make it a clipping group as well. You don't have to merge down, but you can. Why won't this work? Make sure you saved it as a PNG and that you put the direct image link in. If you did all of that, please comment here for help. Will you be adding more markings as they come out? As long as I'm active on Lioden, this thread will be updated! If you have any more questions, please let me know, I'll be glad to answer them. Please keep in note I can't really help with other drawing programs, but I'll try my best to help any other issues that may arise. 0 players like this post! Like? |
