The zone is almost always locked in dry season. The dry season begins with a series of violent thunderstorms that lead to strong dry winds. These winds, combined with the dry weather, promote the quick spread of fires through here and the nearby shrublands, which cause animals to flee the area. Plants begin to die, or shrivel to protect themselves from water loss. Rivers and lakes dry up. During this time, you would not see many plants or animals as it might not rain again for some time.

Animals that thrive here as competition, or as threats are African Wild Dogs, Brown Hyenas, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Kudus, Rhinos, Striped Hyenas, and Honey Badgers.
