Rabies

a contagious and fatal viral disease of dogs and other mammals that causes madness and convulsions, transmissible through the saliva to humans.

Based off a post I submitted earlier, but revised when it didn't do well. The basic idea of this post is that for an event based around rabies, you don't actually do much with rabies other than kill rabid animals and hallucinate. I want to fix that c:

Symptoms of Rabies

other than aggression and the excessive saliva, you don't really see many other symptoms of rabies on LD which, really, is a shame - as there are many other symptoms that can and should be explored. Rabies is, in a large part, a disease of the brain and can cause animals to behave in ways opposite to their regular behavior. Shy animals may be bold and aggressive, but animals that are typically bold may suddenly become cripplingly shy. Animals that hate water may suddenly find themselves living in it.

Paralysis is also another common symptom of rabies - animals may stop moving, and simply stare into space as if seeing something not really there. They may also mutilate themselves, starve or overeat, and otherwise just behave in a manner completely unpredictable.

Possible Explore Encounters:
* more added as I think of them

Results of Rabies

Currently, according to the wiki, the only result of your lion getting rabies is a "slight boost to your attack", a nerfed max energy, and the inability to eat until it's cured. I want to fix that.

Benefits of Rabies

❅ lions will receive a noticeable attack boost (+10-15%)
❅ rabid lions will also always have attack priority. Possibly with a flavor text about you "moving unpredictably" and confusing your enemy.
❅ rabid lions will earn double energy (20% instead of the usual 10%).
❅ may receive random energy bursts in explore (+10-20% energy!)

Drawbacks of Rabies

❅ rabid lions will still only receive max energy of 80% and cannot eat
❅ you cannot claim lionesses while rabid. (you are not sexy when you're drooling everywhere...)
❅ rabid lions cannot breed - you may hurt your, or someone else's, lioness!
❅ rabid lions also cannot spar with your submale, you may infect him!
❅ you may randomly lose hunger in explore, eventually possibly starving your lion.

if you don't support, let me know why! I'd love to hear from you down below. c:

Suggestions

I do anywhere from 4 to 20-ish damage a swing (sometimes 25+ on claw weak mobs). So that's 0-3 added damage. Which is what I think it might be now?

+5-8 damage, added to every swing, shown as an extra attack (like helpers during sorme other events) seems better. Plus, it works as an extra reminder you have rabies!

I like this! The starvation is what usually makes me have to cure it- if hunger loss is sped up by a large amount due to it, then that could balance out the extra energy? The more energy you get, the more hunger you lose.

So randomly losing hunger in explore should be more common- maybe you lose 1% after a battle or maybe 5% every 10 steps?

I don't really have an opinion here, but:

"lions will receive a noticeable attack boost (+10-15%)" should probably be a flat number.

I have to not support because of receiving double energy.

The reason I think a rabid lion would receive double energy is due to the disease itself; animals infected with rabies can be hyperactive and seemingly full of endless energy.

Plus; there are items that give your look double energy with similar drawbacks or no drawbacks at all. Thank you for your input, though! :)

It's because there are items that give you double energy that I don't think having rabies should do it.

And that’s fine! I’d just like to keep it as hyperactivity is a common symptom of rabies. Besides - I do believe it will be balanced by the common food loss plus the inability to eat with rabies.

Yes, exactly! Hunger would definitely be the greatest motivator to cure rabies, alongside the ability to breed. And thank you for the suggestion!! O: I like the idea that you lose hunger every time you battle; especially since this event is so battle heavy.
