Hello everyone!

Let's talk about the Karpati mutation. I think it would be a fun new pattern to make available here on lioden. Karpati is a mutation that has an appearance similar to a piebald pattern, and while you could easily make one that looks like it, there is a major difference between the two!

Unlike piebalds, kittens with the karpati mutation are born completely white. As they grow older, they begin to develop darker fur and patterns on most of their bodies, however, their legs, muzzles, tails, and ears remain white. Other than the white spots, karpati cats can have any other fur patterns or colors- tabby, calico, black, bengal, you name it, they can have it!

Fun fact: Karpati is the only known mutation that allows white points! It's especially unique when it comes to the ears, as white ears do not naturally occur in cats.

Newborn: Completely white


Young: Beginning to develop darker colors


Cub: Karputi patterns and dark colors are nearly fully developed


Adolescent & Adult: Mutation has developed fully.
