Wolves had reigned over Signe Forest for generations, thriving in it's rich fauna and flora. Deemed a protected plot of land, they went unhindered for years, their pack growing so large in numbers that they had little fear of larger predators or hostile packs. That is, until the great fire. It wiped out the majority of the forest and surrounding area, decimating a large portion of the pack and running them from their dens. With their home now destroyed, they became nomadic wanderers, never truly settling back down. As the years rolled on, they told stories of the forest to their children, who told them to their own pups, and so on. The newest generation, never having seen their ancestor's home, grew up with stories of it's riches. As their pack flourished once again, they grew tired of their wandering and decided collectively that it was time to return to Signe Forest and take back their forebear's homeland.

As they arrived however, they weren't met with a warm welcome. The territory was as lovely and rich as described, but now teemed with predators and loners. A hostile group, going by the name of 'Verner Pack', had already moved in to the south, taking up a portion of Signe Forest. They didn't take well to the idea of this group moving back in and threatened to cause bloodshed if the pack so much as stepped onto their territory. Now they must rebuild from the ground up if they ever wish to settle back down here. With the threat of dangerous animals and a large pack breathing down their necks, can they ever truly reclaim Signe Forest?

Current Season: Early Spring. [Mild temperatures, frequent rainstorms.]
Major Event(s):

Territory:
Signe Forest is a vast wooded area, heavily dense with trees. There is a large area between Verner and Signe's territory borders that both seem eager to overtake. However, this place is riddled with loners and is dangerous to go into alone. To the south is plains and a rocky coast that borders the ocean, to the north is a large range of mountains.

As the sun just started to rise over the mountains to the east, the woods began to spring into life. The faint calls of a woodlark could be heard echoing about the dense forest, awakening all sorts of animals from their slumber. As the light crept through the trees, it cast brightness onto the heavy blanket of dew that covered the lush grasses. Both camps were shrouded in a plume of fog and both seemed to be equally alive with a bustle of activity. Signe Pack was hard at work, digging their dens and allocating wolves to go about their duties and reestablish the border. Verner Pack was made aware of a herd of deer on the outskirts of their territory, possibly getting ready for an early morning hunt. The loners and outcasts that lurked in the shadows between the groups were charting their own paths as well, setting out to fill their bellies or find suitable shelter for themselves. The air smelled heavy with rain. Large, billowing clouds could be seen lingering in the sky, hinting at the possibility of some showers later on in the evening. It was the makings of a lovely spring day.

Sasha was in the woods still in territory lines looking far off into the vast. She thought about how Alec and her had departed and couldn't help but want to find him again. She longed to be able to feel his warm pelt against hers whenever it was cold like it was today.
Alec being nowhere near any of the territory's sniffed the air hoping to catch a scent of his friend Sasha. He missed her dearly and being away from her he felt scared and confused. He wanted her to be near him so he could feel the safety he felt all those years ago before they were separated by the storm.

Achlys| Alpha| Verner Camp| Mentions- None

Achlys got up from her sitting position on top of the largest boulder, jumping down elegantly and padding over to the stream to take a quick drink. She then turned and loped our the camp, set on hunting something to snack on.

Lemon | Signe Ξ» | Signe Camp | Mentions; Poppy [indirectly]
Lemon growled, blinking at the early morning sunlight. This sucks. Why do I have to help these low-lives? I just settled back into the pack! The pale wolf was digging fervently, letting dirt pile up behind him. He would move it, of course. He might be reluctant to help, but if he was going to, he would do it correctly. He'd already dug his own den very early in the morning but had been pushed into being 'helpful and responsible' by some lousy Phi, Poppy. He paused the vigorous digging to shake the dirt off of his long under-belly fur, then turned around. He nosed the dirt piles around, pushing it and walking over it until it was flat. 'Kay, I'll use the next batch to... Shape the den? Like I did with my own, I guess. He faced the half-finished den again and resumed digging, this time with even more determination to finish the task quickly.

Poppy | Signe Ο† | Signe Camp | Mentions; Lemon [indirectly]
Poppy was still resting beneath the shade of a small fir, ears twitching at the hustle and bustle going on around camp. She'd been awake since the earlier hours of the morning when a certain loud-mouthed brat had begun shouting frustratedly across the incomplete camp. The 'old hag' as he had called her, had given him a nice little lesson about respecting his superiors and being helpful to the pack. She had gone back to her little spot in front of her new den shortly after feasting on a bit of pheasant, expecting to drift off to sleep just as quickly as she had awoken. However, that was not the case. She found that she was full of energy that might be unusual for an older wolf, but she knew the youngsters would refuse to let her help the construction of their camp. 'Oh you're too old' or 'Why don't you go rest, miss?' or 'Sorry, you might accidentally hurt yourself'. That's exactly what she knew she would hear if she attempted to assist her packmates. Poppy blankly wondered where her stoic granddaughter, Sazha, was at the moment. Probably aiding the pack somewhere out of my sights, She thought proudly. I'll get up and have a chat with her whenever I see her. So, the aging wolf entertained herself by watching youngsters tramp around and cracking the occasional joke to passerby. Now, she was sitting, waiting for her next victim. Or somebody to talk to. Yes, that'd be just fine too.

Io | Verner Ξ» | Verner Camp | Mentions; Rossignol [indirectly]
Io's ears twitched back and forth, listening to the very distant noise of deer. His mouth watered. He'd been guarding the camp ever since he'd caught wind of talk that a strange pack had arrived in their forest, only bothering to eat smaller meals like sparrows and frogs. It's not really that he had been assigned the duty. He'd automatically taken the job without a word from the Alpha or Deltas, feeling it was necessary to protect the pack in the case that the opposing pack should attack. So, naturally, after feeding only on small game for the past few days, he practically drooled over just the thought of deer meat. In the back of his mind, a small voice hoped that some other wolf would be assigned guard duty so he could go hunting, but he shook his head. I took on this job myself. I need to be responsible! A brief blank filled his mind. Although, I wouldn't mind being sent out on a hunting patrol... Gods he was desperate for some good, red meat. Io's stomach suddenly rumbled and he groaned, letting his head drop for a moment. Meat wasn't the only thing he wanted, if he was being honest with himself. He missed being able to sleep by Rossignol's side at night, although he could easily abandon post and hang out with the handsome black wolf. He wouldn't though. 'Pack over self!' He quoted sternly to himself. It was something his parents used to remind him of as a pup, when he would foolishly complain about being hungry and bored. He knew better now. His head shook and he refocused, looking out into the forest in front of him. Birds twittered and chirped noisily in the fog-filtered, yet fresh morning light. It was a rather nice day, at least. Io would be able to sit around for a majority of the day and keep watch, he hoped. He yawned. Oh, right. He was tired, too. Not a blink of sleep, albeit dozing off once or twice. He huffed, shaking his entire body as if emerging from a cold pond. His position straightened and he looked onwards with a glint of fierce determination in his eyes. He was ready to defend his pack at a moment's notice!.......... Boy, I hope somebody takes over soon... Argh, no!!

Providence | ψ | Outside of territories | Mentions; N/A
Providence's black ears twitched at the noise of chattering birds outside her den. Warm sunlight and fog filtered through the lichens and mosses that had been arranged as a curtain at the den entrance. She lifted her head groggily, still blinking away the lingering tiredness of the night before. She'd been up late hunting a tricky rabbit, chasing it into the depths of the night. The long hunt had proven worth it, though. The rabbit had been fat and had tender, juicy meat... A meek growl from her stomach. She sighed. Time to catch breakfast. She uncurled and stretched, lifting each limb and shaking it briskly to get her blood pumping. She pushed her way through the green plant-curtain she'd created, pausing to let her eyes adjust. It wasn't too bright, really. She just didn't want to feel blinded out of the blue. Her nose lifted into the air and her nostrils flared, taking in the scents that this chunk of land provided for her. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Earth, freshwater, flower patches, a deer herd... Deer! Her ears perked immediately and she instantly darted in the direction of the scent. Deer herds meant deer, and deer in spring meant fawns. A lot of fawns. Providence knew the habits of mother deer and their young from past lessons with her brothers. Sometimes the mothers wandered away from the fawns to find a new grazing area, leaving their little ones hidden away in the underbrush. Most importantly, she knew exactly how to find these scrumptious meals. Even one could last me a day or two. She thought hopefully. Her nose led her closer and closer to the outskirts of the Verner Pack's territory, but she didn't care. She would find a fawn quickly, grab it, and run. Sounded easy enough. She suddenly stopped, the ferocious stench of the pack's border attacking her sense of smell. She shook her head, continuing forwards with less than a moment's hesitation. Breakfast, here I come~!

Nikolai | Signe Alpha | Location: Signe Camp.
Mentions: N/a.

The male's grey and brown coat blended seamlessly into the fog. He glanced up from his work to study the other wolves in camp, the front half of his body riddled with dirt and debris. The crater he was standing in was the shallow makings of a den. The entrance nestled against a large rock, it was one of the more secure nests strewn about the area. He intended for it to eventually become a whelping den, or possibly a space for the Eta to settle into. Whatever it was used for, Nikolai was determined on making it as dependable as he could. With a grunt, he used his paws to push himself out of the hole and dragged his hind end back onto grassy ground. Taking a few steps away from the dig site, the hulking wolf shook his fur violently. Clumps of clay and bits of plant material detached themselves and thumped against the ground around him.

Running his tongue over his matte nose, Nikolai sat back on his haunches and groomed the fur on his chest. Eyes still keenly darting about the area, he was filled with a small sense of pride. We're here, we're rebuilding. He allowed the thought to settle in his mind and straightened his posture. Taking in a deep breath of the morning air, he glanced up at the trees. This place truly was a sanctuary, the possibilities felt endless. It was already beginning to feel like home to the brute and he would gladly fight to defend it if need be.

Malus | Verner Lambda | Location: Verner Camp.
Mentions: Achlys, Io.

Malus was lying on the ground outside the dens, his relaxed gaze following the muddled coat of his leader as she stood and lit out of camp rather hastily. He ran his tongue across his dew-soaked shins, his cream fur jutting out in odd spikes from the moisture in the air. He had been out scouting in the early hours of the morning, racing with the sun. He had managed to get back to camp just before it peeked it's gleaming head out over the horizon. "Ha. Won again." He mumbled, a soft smile forming on his muzzle.

His limbs stretched out ahead of him as he stood up, gaze shifting to the fidgeting figure of Io who had been... sitting there? For a while now, it seemed. He hummed softly, eyes narrowing. What on earth is he doing? Malus' head cocked to the side out of curiosity. Ah, yes. 'Guard duty.' Was it? He quickly diverted his gaze and meandered across camp, shaking his head with a snort. That wasn't a task that Malus was interested in tending to. The thought of having to sit still and stare at nothing all day sounded like hell to the cheeky canine. It was better to leave that duty to the more obedient members of the pack.

Sasha Mentions Providence and Achles
Sasha's nostrils flared as she caught the scent of a dame in the wind. She howled to Achles her pack Alpha warning him of an unknown loner in the territory. Her ears perked awaiting a response.

Arakai | Signe Ξ΄ | Signe Territory --> Signe Camp | Mentions: Poppy, Lemon

Golden eyes stared out past the trees, the she-wolf's head turning on a swivel, her sharp ears standing tall. Arakai had woken up early, as usual, hoping to get a head start on hunting and possibly bring back a good bounty. Though her hunt wasn't going as planned, she'd ended the hunt with only two fat squirrels, being lucky enough to catch even that. I could've done better. She'd tell herself, remembering how she'd tripped up on her earlier chase with a band of round rabbits. The she-wolf cursed herself at the thought, embarrassment build in her chest, a deep breath pulling in the clear spring air as she tried to calm her nerves.

Walking along, Arakai slowly made her way back to the makeshift camp, her head low as she ambled along. The dame was shocked to see two other members already up and working hard, or at least one was, the other was resting nearby, as one her age should freely do. Arakai had always held a degree of respect for the elder wolf, often listening intently to her stories when she'd been but a wide-eyed pup. As for the other, Arakai hadn't really known or spent much time with Lemon even before he'd left the pack. In a way, he was more of a blank slate to get used to, and the fact that he'd been working this early was a good way to get on the she-wolf's good side.
Heading past the two, Arakai laid the two squirrels down in the near-empty prey pile, privately noting to go out a hunt once again after getting a moment's rest.

Besart | Signe Lambda | Location: Signe Camp.
Mentions: Lemon, Poppy, Arakai, Nikolai.

Traipsing back into camp, Besart's muzzle was stained red. A tawny rabbit hung limp from his teeth and he scanned the area tentatively before making his way towards the measly pile of prey. The first wolf to catch his eye was Arakai, and he squinted to study her white pelt for a moment before quickly dashing to the prey stash. After depositing his catch, Besart side stepped away as to not grab the delta's attention. The last thing he wanted was to carry out an order this early in the morning. The thought itself made him grumble quietly. The others seemed to be hard at work, or resting about in camp. He stepped past another wolf, offering the phi a slight wag of his tail in greeting. It was Poppy, of course. A welcome face to Besart. It was hard to ever be cross towards the older dame.

"Mornin'." The single word was all he spoke as he passed by, following her gaze towards the irritated brute, Lemon. Well, 'Suneater' as they had once called him before he left and rejoined. He didn't completely understand the need for the name change, but had been diligent about calling him by the new, preferred, name nonetheless.

The sight of Signe's leader caused Besart to stop in his tracks and swivel around. He slowly returned to Poppy's side and flopped down next to the elderly wolf. Running his paw across his bloodied muzzle, he glanced back over his shoulder with a grimace. Best not to get your ear chewed off just yet today, Besart. He thought, disgruntled gaze slowly rolling forwards as he watched Lemon intently. What on earth had gotten the ill-tempered wolf to work so hard? Glancing back over towards Poppy, the answer clicked together in his mind. Ah, she was what.

Poppy | Signe Ο† | Signe Camp | Mentions; Besart [directly] Lemon [indirectly]
When the younger wolf spoke to her ("Mornin'.") she beamed, tail flopping back and forth against the ground. "Morning, young'un!" She'd been sitting by herself for the majority of the morning, free of interaction, so even the simple little greeting brought her joy. Her mind suddenly began racing, trying to think up a solid pun before he moved away. She blinked to herself, head empty of jokes. Odd. Her tail began wagging again when the tan-gray wolf flopped down beside her. "Avoiding confrontation, hmm? Understandable." She chuckled. She followed his gaze to the grumpy young wolf, Lemon. Brat, that one is. When Besart looked back to her she smiled, as if she knew exactly what was crossing his mind. And she took her chance. "Ah, yes. Lemon was being a bit of a brat and whining about his duties. He was in his usual sour mood, you know?" Her gaze lit up at her own joke. Ahh, please get it. I know you have a sense of humor in there somewhere! "Woke me up, that brat did. Practically had to chew his ear off before he listened!"

Arakai | Signe Ξ΄ | Signe Camp | Mentions: Besart

A gentle breeze was all she felt as the younger wolf quickly brushed past her and out of her way. They'd only taken but a second to appear and disappear from her side, not even giving the she-wolf a chance to look upon their form. As she finally turned from the prey pile to look up the other wolf, Arakai's eyes were quick to fall upon the newest arrival, Besart. The rambunctious Lambda was one that was quick to grate upon the Delta's nerves. He was far too carefree for the white wolf's liking and disagreed far too much with their leader for his status.
Though at the end of the day that didn't matter, he was still part of the pack, meaning that she would continue to fight for and with the younger canine. And it was obvious that he was willing to work hard for the pack.

It took but a moment for her to walk away from the growing pile of meat. The delta's legs carrying her to a shallow but wide hole in the ground. She'd been slow to start on her own den, digging only a few clumps out every few hours. It was something she wasn't entirely too worried about, Arakai felt as if she had the time to wait when it came to her own devices. She plopped down in the shallow den, her eyes constantly moving around the camp.

Mimic stood steal on the shore of a creek, staring into the water. "What should we do today? Perhaps go see what the silly pack wolves are up to?", there was no reply to be heard. "No you're right, they might be on edge." Finally, she took a long stretch and stepped into the creek, rippling her reflection on the surface of the water. The water was cold, and not very enjoyable on her own. "We need to get a warm place to rest soon", she sighed.

Rossignol | Verner Camp |Open
Ross is pacing in camp, wondering where Io has disappeared to these past few nights. His night-black coat glimmers in the early morning light, making him look like a star-strewn sky. He pays no mind to the wolves around him, his ears pinned and his tail whipping back and forth in agitation.

Aika | Verner Camp | Open
Aika yawned as he stretched, his fluffy tail curling over his back as his jaws opened wide, exposing rows of pearly white teeth. Chilly this morning... He took a few moments to groom his fur, fluffing it up so that it would keep him warm.
