First time ever doing this so bare with me one this.
While it is based and designed with a gem reference, I'm on the fence of making it a gem base. However it would be a nice combo maybe with noctis, or an interesting on its own base. As for the genetics, was thinking Black Dark Countershaded Special or Rare. (I used Ibis Paint, so the without lineart part looks a bit weird) I'm open to criticism, name ideas, and other suggestions! Like this idea? Check out my other base idea! The colours on the lower back (close to the tail) put off the design and doesnt really match the gem shown as a reference picture.
I think the idea is good in general, but the colouring does need to be neatened up so it looks more appealing ^^ Also, look at the ear to the left, at the very bottom near the head; it's not been shaded Otherwise, I support and the combo suggestions work well. I used the gem mostly for the colors and it gave me an idea, so it's not ideally based on it, that would take way more effort. I'm not concerned with tiny mistakes or anything since it's just a basic idea but I really thank you for your opinions!

it has potential, but the black must be a little lighter because otherwise it blends with the lineart and this just looks bad (it is also a problem of some dark bases, that the color is way too dark for the lineart)... there should be more subtle gradient between the black and pink, or try to experiment with blending these two colors

I really like how simple and clean this base is! If you're struggling for names, might I suggest Amaranth, Mauveine, Byzantine, Murasaki, or even Aubergine? Or purple in Zulu, which is Onsomi (according to google anyway), or in Swahili which is Zambarau!
