Ok, so I try and maintain a relatively clean pride, and I know most do, and that's FINE! but the thing is, does it really matter? and I know people will say that it creates a challenge, but it's hard when most lions that are even relatively useful, like have maybe one case of inbreeding way far back in heritage. I had a sale go through because the lion, a really pretty one, had a grandparent who was a child of ONE lion who was dirty. It pisses me off when that happens cause a dirty lion has no in game effects, and people have preferences, and I know I shouldn't bash them for it. And I get that clean lions tend to sell more, and that's the hard thing, I have a pretty lion it'll go for nothing cause its dirty, and so I just end up killing it.

I'd like to hear other opinions on it, and just have some reasoning from both sides, cause i can really see how it might matter to you, but I just can't get behind it.

I personally think dirty lions add the same to clean, like? Who cares? Its not like its your irl cat, its a virtual lion!

Honestly selling any lion at the moment is harder like I find it difficult to sell lions and my pride is clean. I use to not really care about inbreeding until they implicated the system check now that it shows inbreeding cases I started going clean. I noticed that I got more stud request then inbred and more lion sales but that seemed to vanish after a long bit since it doesn't really matter to me all that much but I just stay clean because of the fact it shows the cases I just can't get past looking at how many inbred cases a lion gets

Gameplay-wise, it makes zero difference, and that’s why I don’t care. Because of the way kings work, it’s impossible to independently keep a completely inbreed-free line while also gaining stats through the generations through your own effort at an anywhere-near-efficient rate. I play a fairly solo game, not worrying about the market much, so yeah.

My boy, who is very inbred, gets stud requests very often. I think it’s the combination of his high stats, the fact that his base is a combo factor, the fact he has an inheritable mutation, and his low price. I don’t try to sell lions very often (pretty much only when I’m getting rid of a mutated lion) so I don’t know how that market is.

It's not something I worry about at all personally - I almost exclusively inbreed, for logistical reasons, and it's never been something I'm bothered about. I've certainly never had any trouble selling cubs with instances of inbreeding. I do tend just to sell those that have something valuable-ish about them (e.g. decent stats, several markings, breed-only mane/skin/eyes/etc), to make it worthwhile, but even so. If cubs are cute enough and priced reasonably in the TC then they will pretty much always sell, in my experience.

I keep both my kings totally private these days so I don't offer studding, but when I did there was more than enough interest there too, completely regardless of inbreeding. I think appearance (and sometimes uniqueness) matters more than heritage for a lot of people. Even clean breeders will often not care if they're working on a longterm high-value heir project or similar, since they would be clean-repping in the end anyway.

Overall I would say just focus on what interests you personally the most - whether that's high stats, or raffle clones, or muties, or rare markings/slots, or breed-only features, or whatever else. There's no point simply following anyone else's preferences or gameplay-styles, if it's not what you enjoy. It's much more satisfying to do your own thing imo :)

To me yeah tbh. I started out playing and didn't really care but a friend told me to clean breed and so I did, haven't gone back since. If I do have an inbred lion it would probably be like a dwarf/hybrid but inbreeding makes me feel icky. I guess I'd keep one in my pride but I wouldn't breed it.

I never cared about inbreeding when I started playing this site in its beta state and don't now. It does not matter to me, I just want pretty lions and if I have to breed my King's daughters to get that then I will.

I do Hard Mode, so any lions I can buy from other people are not possible to be inbred, at all - but, I personally avoid inbreeding in my lines, only do it to breed a king and then replace him with a heritageless groupie. Why? Well, because our lions in this game are not just virtual livestock, they're characters and I enjoy making up stories for my lions. Its not quite possible to write down a story about a lion when its inbred, because writing-wise inbreeding isnt an easy topic to touch on and I know many people also make stories for their lions. Imagine wanting to write a story for your lion but his father is his brother AND also his grandfather? That's crazy

For a purely "utilitarian" play - like "lions are just pixels" - inbreeding does not matter, but for people treating their lions more like characters - it does. So if you do inbreeding, you can find buyers among utilitarian players, but if you dont do inbreeding - you get buyers from both, utilitarian AND story players. That is why clean lions sell better; clean lions simply "fit" to more buyer groups, thus, having more potential people interested.

Personally, I don't mind inbred. I usually do it just to throw some cubs into the giving tree for those that need em (fodder, newbies, etc). Sometimes, it's unavoidable as I may not have the SB to stud a lioness that's getting too old, and I want to try to keep some markings going. I'd only care if it actually became a problem gameplay wise.
