You walk cautiously towards the lava-ridden plain. The ground is charred and black. The air is hot and humid. Terror strikes through you as you hear a voice bellow through the canyon…



"Who goes there?" a deafening voice sounds through the air. A large lion, bigger than any other lion you’ve ever seen, stalks out of the shadows towards you. His muscles are tense and prominent. Blood soaked his paws and dripped from his mouth. He wore armor and a dominant crown all made from bones. Bones spiked out of his back and his shoulders. His orange and red eyes sparkled brightly in the darkness.

Frozen in fear, you respond nervously. “J-just a simple traveler. I come with p-peace.”

"Stop your stuttering. I'm not going to hurt you," he uttered.



"Bloodflower, who is this?" another lion padded out of the shadows to stand side by side with the other lion. She was also wearing a crown, but instead of bones, it was made of horns. She also looked very strong but looked as if she didn’t use her strength as much.

“I don’t know, Firefly. Who are you, strange lion?” Bloodflower asked.

“Uh, Nebula,” you answered.

“Nebula, ay? What’s brought you here today? It’s incredibly dangerous to lay a paw on these lands. You’re lucky the guards didn’t get you." Firefly asked.

“I was just exploring…”

“Exploring? More like scoping out our land and looking for the best place to launch an attack! I see right through your lies, lion!”

“Easy, Bloodflower. You have no proof that they’re here in vain.”Firefly snarled, looking at Bloodflower and wrinkling her nose at him. “Exploring, huh? You shouldn’t be exploring around here.”

“I know that now,” you say.

“Why don’t you turn around and go back to your pride? There’s no place for you here. The guards will have sure heard Bloodflower’s babbling by now. We’ll escort you out of our lands so you leave safely.” Firefly said. She began walking and you followed. After making a short distance, Firefly realized that Bloodflower wasn’t following. “Bloodflower!”

“What?!” he growled.

“Stop being so sour and come with us!”

“Somebody’s gotta stay and make sure that Nebula didn’t bring any other lions with them!”

“There are guards at every edge of our land. If they did plan an invasion, the others would’ve been long gone at this point. No invaders are coming into our territory.”

Standing still stubbornly, Bloodflower reluctantly agreed to follow you and Firefly.

Reaching the end of their territory, Firefly said goodbye to you and Bloodflower just stared at you with suspicion in his eyes. You padded away from their land with thoughts flooding your mind. If you were able to slink past all those guards without being spotted, you could guarantee that you could train the others in your pride to do the same. You knew that this wasn’t the last time you’d see those lava pools.
