the title is relatively straightforward. as a native, i find it kind of iffy that one of the decors for a lion game set in africa is the most stereotyped representation of native regalia. and to dispell the inevitable "oH, bUt LiOnS WiTh gLoWiNg eYeS aNd gReEn fUr aRe OkAy???" arguments -

yes, because those aspects are fantasy. glowing eyes and green fur isn't real, whereas the headdress decor shows a stereotype that has gotten my people killed en masse.

and seeing as the game's hq is in britain, i have a feeling none of the decor designers or artists are native.

and to compensate for the eagle feathers that have been spent on crafting the existing eagle feather headdresses : once the headdresses are ( hopefully ) removed, other recipes using eagle feathers could be released, and any feathers the user could have spent on the decor would be replaced in their inventory. i'm not sure that i'm wording it right, though i hope my point is decipherable.

if you disagree, i encourage you to explain why in the replies

there is heaps and heaps of tribal inspired decor in this game, whether you think it's ethical or not. i don't see anything wrong with using or having these decors in the game as long as they are being used in a respectful manner. in fact, i think it is important to bring these aspects into the game as it not only makes sense to our environment, but brings a bit to offer in terms of representing cultures. i just don't see how any of the decors are really inherently stereotypical or harmful in any way.

but see there's a difference between the other decor, which is inspired, and this headdress which is a huge part of how the media sees us. no offense meant, but if you really don't see how the headdress is stereotypical, you don't know much about natives.

and yes, while some tribes DO have headdresses like that — they're highly ceremonial and meaningful, but because they're the focal point of how most people see us, it's kind of a "don't do this thing unless you fully understand it and the culture behind it" kind of deal

The main site artist Xylax (#4) has clarified before that all headdresses on Lioden are inspired by African tribes. As Lioden takes place in Africa, all official site backgrounds and decors are made within the context of African cultures unless explicitly stated otherwise (such as the Gorilla Enclave themes from other countries). No headdresses are inspired by Native American cultures as it would not fit in with the African theme of the game. Due to this, your suggestion has been rejected. If you would like to discuss this topic further, you're welcome to PM Abbey (#1) or email support@lioden.com, though we will not be removing the decors from the game or making adjustments to how they look.
