I've been seeing these types of trades almost every time I open up the trading center.

I'm kinda new and very confused about the concept so I have a few questions that I thought I might ask here...

1. Has it worked for anyone? If so, how many trades did it take and what did you end up getting? If not, and you've tried, how far did you get?

2. Should it be considered begging? I mean, it implies that they want to get more than the value of their trade, which is thinly-veiled begging in my eyes.

I know this is just a game, and I shouldn't let it bother me too much. Just thinking out loud and wanting to know what other players think.

Honestly, I hate this trend atm. It's because of all the TikTok's of like "Trading a Paperclip up to a Car!". It is ultimately begging, you're asking someone to give you something of value for practically nothing.

ohhh I think I've seen one of those vids before lol

I've noticed that mods and players are very strict about the no-begging rule, I wonder why they let these trades slip by

I'm not sure, it might very well be suggestion time!

this was already addressed by the admins, and instead of actually getting rid of them they implemented a band aid solution of players having to go through and hide the trades they dont want to see, regardless of a majority of players thinking this falls under the rule of begging

edit incase anyone is curious about the conversation that happened: https://www.lioden.com/topic.php?id=304429462337

That's a bit crap to be honest, I understand it was a trend, but it's honestly begging at this point. It might be time to revisit the situation - it was last looked at in August.

i agree. ive been against it since the beginning. this "trend" has been around for a year at this point, despite many people originally saying "its just a trend it will die out in time" obviously it hasnt gone anywhere and is still a problem, albeit a bit less prominent than originally

It's still rampant on TikTok, which is mostly to blame.

Paper clip trends have been plaguing pet sim sites forever - definitely didn't start with tiktok but the current resurgence probably is because of tiktok. I can respect the idea behind it since I mean everyone starts from nothing on sim sites, but people blatantly posting the trades does really seem like begging to me.
