Dovestar smelled the air. No cat was around. As long as she was away from Mountainclan territory, she'd be fine meeting Tigerpelt. She could see her breath in the cool Leaf-fall air. With the war going on, she worried for her clan. Her deputy, Cobrastrike, had supported the war, which Dovestar had finally relented to. She hated war just as much as Tigerpelt, her longtime Fireclan friend and mate.

"I'm here, Tigerpelt. Where are you?" she whispered, stepping into the clearing. Even through her long fur, she was starting to shiver. Mountainclan was the most powerful of the four clans, but even they were worried that they wouldn't survive the next Leaf-bare.
