It was a beautiful morning, there wasn’t many clouds in the sky and the wind had only a slight chill to it, which was expected for this time of the year. The leaves were already red and yellow, however only a few remained green. It was early fall right now, one of the perfect times to go on a vacation.

Evangeline had just arrived at the resort for her vacation, it was nice to do something like this every once in a while however he busy schedule has prevented her from doing so. However, recently she had won a week long vacation at a beautiful resort in the woods, she couldn’t say no even with the somewhat strange requirements for the vacation. She had to accept the rule or deal of having to share a cabin with a stranger, which she was fine with for the most part.
She honestly saw herself as lucky to win this vacation as he wouldn’t have had the money to afford a resort like this.

The resort was a luxurious one that was in a beautiful place, it was right next to a lake and you could see mountains in the distance from the resort.
Gourmet food was going to be served, there was luxury cabins for people to stay in, and many forms of entertainment could be found here.

Evangeline had decided to immediately head for her assigned cabin after checking into the resort, she could explore the resort later as right now she just needed to unpack her things and figure out which room would be hers at the cabin.

She didn’t drive to her cabin, instead she decided to walk with all her luggage to her cabin, after all it was a beautiful day out.

Raine's day had started in a flurry. She had woken up late and almost missed her flight. One thing she hated was being late. But the night prior she had stayed up late to work on some things for a case she had agreed to take on. She had won a vacation a few weeks prior but had almost immediately decided to not go, but of course, she had been talked into it. It took a few days, but eventually, her best friend convinced her to go.

So here she was, standing in the middle of a place that she never thought she would find herself in. A man stood in front of her with a grin, he offered to drive her to her cabin and she agreed gratefully. The entire way there she thought about the person she was going to meet.

She prayed that they would have a sense of humor, or at least not be boring and annoying. She knew it was unfair of her to ask this of anyone, seeing that she hadn't had to spend a dime to get here. But was it so wrong to pray not to be paired with someone she didn't get along with for 6 days?

The driver came to a stop, the gravel outside crunching beneath the tires. With a sigh, she heaved herself out of the car, as well as her luggage. Across her back hung a backpack, one that she had had for years and taken everywhere with her, it was her form of a purse. Waving and offering a smile she began her trek up to the front door.

When she arrived Raine opened the door and struggled for a moment to pull her luggage in before closing the door behind her. Sliding her sunglasses onto the top of her head she let her eyes adjust to the lighting.

Across the room she noticed a woman, she opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. The woman across the room from her was familiar, not only familiar but she knew he well, or at least she used to. For a moment she just stared, then finally two words came out of her mouth"

"Youre kidding" was all she said

Evangeline was just starting to unpack when Raine entered the cabin, she was actually just setting up her Xbox series X in the living room when Raine walked in.
She had looked up at Raine when she walked in, her eyes glancing to the luggage she was carrying.
“Well, I sure wasn’t expected you of all people to be here.” She spoke, her voice calm and even.

She didn’t hold many personal grudges against Raine, the ones she did were only for small things. Basically, she didn’t hate or strongly dislike Raine, after all the reason why they broke up was mostly her fault since she wasn’t giving Raine the attention she needed. It was understandable why the other left.

“You can go ahead and pick whichever room you’d like, I haven’t picked a room for myself yet, decided you should get first picks.” She said after a minute, soon going back to setting up her Xbox. She didn’t seem to be bothered by the other’s presence, she just remained in a neutral mood even with the history she had with Raine. Just treating her like how she’d normally treat a stranger or acquaintance.

For a moment the tall dark-haired woman just stared at her. There was a time when she had been upset with Eve. She had even been angry. But after realizing that their schedules never did lineup well. Once she had come to terms with that she was more sad than anything. The two of them had been so good in their younger years, so ambitious and excited for life, but Raine guessed that it wouldn't have worked anyway.

Pulling herself out of her trance she walked further in, taking a few glances around. There wasn't really a reason for her to go back and forth to the rooms and decide which one was better so she just chose the closest one. "I'll just take this one, thanks" She offered a soft smile before wandering to the room.

When she opened the door she gazed around. A queen-sized bed sat in the middle of the room, the walls not far from it. There was a closet to the right side of the door that she headed towards. She took her time setting her clothes in the closet and in the drawers. Taking a breath she knew she couldn't hide in her room. Going back to the living room she looked for Evangeline.

"It's been a while," She said as she strode into the kitchen. Leaning forward with her palms on the counters she looked at Eve. "How have you been?" She hated how awkward she sounded, and small. She wanted to appear as if she was unphased by her presence, the way Eve seemed to be unphased by hers.

“Yup.” Evangeline said once Raine picked her room.
She took her time with setting up her Xbox, she rarely had time to play games on it due to her busy schedule so she brought it with her just so she could play, she even brought and extra controller just in case Raine wanted to play with her.

By the time Raine came back out Evangeline had finished setting up her Xbox to the absolute unit of a TV, the TV could be anywhere from 80 to 100 inches. It was much more bigger than the TV she had at home, which was only a sad 30 inch.

She was just relaxing on the couch, controlled in hand as she scrolled through the vast library of games she had. It was going to take her a while to pick which one she wanted to play.

When she heard Raine speak she turned her head to look over at her.
“I’ve been well, I just graduated from med school about a week or two ago, started working at a hospital around the same time I graduated as well.” She replied, seeming not to mind how awkward Raine sounded.

Raine offered another soft smile and nodded "That's great" She responded to the other, she had always been so focused on her studies, so Raine was at least happy to know that she had followed it through. For a moment she stood watching Evangeline scroll on the Xbox. Turning she began to explore a bit. She opened the cabinets and the fridge to see what all was held within them, and if anything was at all.

To her surprise, the shelves had a few items in them. Things like cereal and bread as well as other packaged food items were in the cabinets. Within the fridge, there were water bottles, eggs, and sodas. On the counter, the one thing she really needed sat there. A coffee maker, with all of the ingredients to make coffee. She let out a small sigh of relief.

Checking her phone she turned back towards Eva. "Do you know if we have things scheduled? or do we just do what we want? I wasn't really told a whole lot about this trip" She told the other. She had taken a water bottle from the fridge and was sipping on it casually, once more leaning against the counter. Her gaze traveled around, observing everything in the room. She liked this place. It was cozy and homely.

Eventually Evangeline picked a game to play, and of course it was Minecraft, one of her favorite games. However she did have commitment issues when it came to finishing her builds, every time she played she was always making something new.
She had well over 100 worlds on there.

She did what she normally does, make a new world, collect some basic resources, then go exploring.

“Hm? I don’t think we have anything scheduled, at most there’s a meeting of some sort where you get introduced to the staff and the manager of the place, though by the sounds of it it’s optional to attend it.” She replied, though she thought for a moment.
“I believe we’re allowed to do whatever we want, though if you want to be more sure then you could probably check in with an employee.” She added.

Evangeline didn’t get the chance to explore the cabin yet, so she would likely get up sometime soon to do so and claim the other room for herself.
