Introduction.

I am a fairly new player, my 2nd year anniversary on this site is coming up next month. Despite my short time being on this game, I have managed to make over 1,000 simply by playing this one event smartly. I talk a lot in chat, and whenever I mention the amount of currency I've made via February, I very obviously get a lot of questions! So, being that this event is next month, I've decided to share what I know in hopes that it will help out some other players, both old and new.

Maximizing Your Heart shells.

Obviously, the most efficient way to earn heart shells quickly, and at large, is to explore. A LOT. Do NOT let any energy go to waste. The moment you hit 100%, you use it.

You can use The Lioden Event Wiki to search each event encounter you come across in explore, (using command + f) and then choose the action that will reward you with the most heart shells. This isn't something I see people do or talk about a lot, and I think it's very helpful!

Besides exploring, another way to make heart shells is via the flirting and slapping feature this event has. With this feature, you can flirt with other players's lionesses, which will reward you with a single heart shell if successful. However, if the lionesses owner tries to slap you away, and fails, you will be rewarded with 3. You can flirt once every 15 minutes, make sure to do so as much as possible!

Items to Use, And to Not Use.

Lioden is a game with a large variety of items, for this event it's important to identify and acknowledge items that could cause a loss to your potential Heart Shell earnings. Below, I've first listed good items for this event (+ what they're good for, and how to acquire them) and secondarily listed "less good"items for this event.

Energy Boost
Red Bull
Roasted Lamb
Bone Marrow
Hyena Butter
Grub
Sangoma Lion Mask
Coffee Beans

• Energy Boost

⁃ Completely refills your energy bar after use.
⁃ Can be bought for 2 each in the Oasis or purchased in TC & Branch Sales.

• Red Bull

⁃ Doubles your energy gain for eight hours after use.
⁃ Originates from the May & September event shops.
⁃ Can be bought in TC or Branch Sales.

• Roasted Lamb

⁃ Doubles your energy gain for eight hours after use.
⁃ Can be bought in TC or Branch Sales.

• Bone Marrow

⁃ Gives you +20% energy per item after use.
⁃ Can be bought in Monkey Business for 80 or found in TC & Branch Sales.

• Hyena Butter

⁃ Repels claimable lionesses in explore for 30 minutes (leaving more space for an explore encounter to be generated, which can give you Heart Shells.)
⁃ Can be bought in Monkey Business for 100 or found in TC & Branch Sales.

• Grub

⁃ Gives you +10% energy per item after use.
⁃ Can be acquired by playing Serengeti Shuffle or purchased in TC & Branch Sales.

• Sangoma Lion Mask

⁃ Allows you to change your lions personality, one of which is 'hyperactive', which equips you with a button that can be clicked once a day, and gives you +30% energy if you're below 70%.
⁃ Can be purchased from the Personality Snake for 400 or boguht in TC & Branch Sales.

• Coffee Beans

⁃ Makes you lose 1-2% energy per explore step rather than 1-3%
⁃ Can be purchased in Treasure Cove or on TC & Branch Sales.

Fermented Marula Fruit
Catnip

• Fermented Marula Fruit

⁃ Has a chance to lower your energy by 10% or raise it by 10%.
⁃ Should be avoided, as the gamble isn't worth it.
Can be helpful if used at 0% energy.

• Catnip

⁃ Increases your chances of encountering a claimable lioness in explore.
⁃ Should be avoided as it leaves less room for the game to generate an event encounter. (AKA an encounter that could give you Heart Shells.)

! PLEASE NOTE !

This next section is written under the impression and idea that the reader is looking to make Gold Beetles off of this event. If you want to spend your Heart Shells on cosmetics, PLEASE do so! Do whatever makes you happy. I am just trying to share what has helped me make large amounts of premium currency on this game. <3

Spending Your Heart Shells.

The February event has many eye-catching items within both of it's two shops. (The flirt shop, and the slap shop.) But only a few of them are notably valuable. The most popular of which, are the Yohimbe Bark, Buffalo Scrotum, Grain of Paradise, Lion Scrotum, and pretty much all of the applicators in The Flirt Shop. (The Slap Shop too has applicators, but they are less popular / valuable.)

Last year, (Feb 2023 at the time I'm writing this), I decided to experiment, and bought a large amount of Yohimbe Bark, Buffalo Scrotum, and Lion Scrotum.
I sold The Buffalo scrotum for 30 - 32 each, the Yohimbe Bark for 19 - 25 each, and the lion Scrotum for roughly 15 each if I am remembering correctly.

Overall, this gave me over 1,200 as I had sold 12+ Yohimbe Bark, and I believe over 20 Buffalo scrotum.

(Keep in mind, I sold the Lion scrotum in about March, and sold some of the Yohimbe and Buffalo Scrotum in November through December.)

What I have learned from this, is that if you are looking to make the most profit, Buffalo Scrotum are the way to go.
As of now, I still have 3 Buffies remaining that did not sell, and I have 10 Yohimbe Bark that did not sell. I found that the barks were SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult to sell, for whatever reason. The amount that I did sell took about a month, while on the contrary, I was able to be rid of my Buffies within DAYS!

What I would not recommend purchasing at all, (if you're looking to maximize profit and minimize Heart Shell spending), is Lion Scrotum and base + Marking applicators. Lion Scrotum are used for dwarf mutation breeding, but the dwarf market has absolutely crashed, to the point that both dwarves and Lion Scrotum are dirt cheap.
As for marking and base apps, they are extremely expensive within the event shops, and typically extremely cheap when resold!

Tracking Your Spending.

Last January, while I was preparing for February, I created a google doc for myself that I used as a sort of "goals journal", where I wrote down what I wanted to ideally buy at the end of the event, approximately how much GB it would make me, and then calculated how many Heart Shells I would need to purchase said items. I set that number of Heart Shells as my goal, and placed it as a header on my den page so that I would not forget.

By the end of the event, I managed to EXCEED! my original goal by PLENTY.
At first, I was aiming for 1,000 HS, and by the end, between the two of my accounts, I managed to make (I believe) over 3,000 Heart Shells. And I'd like to mention, I did this on a BUDGET using only my daily energy boost, bone marrow, and hyena butter! It's that simple my friends. <3

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I really hope this could provide you with some helpful information! I put a lot of time and research into this, but if I missed anything or got anything wrong, please do kindly let me know in the comments. (Also, pointing out typos is HEAVILY appreciated. I have long nails and type quickly, so I do tend to make a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. ) Please do remember, this is just a silly little lion game. I get competitive and overly-dedicated when it comes to the February event, but theres no real reason to take it so seriously, especially if it causes any stress for you. Remember just to have fun, and do whatever makes YOU happy. <3

Great guide! My only suggestion is to mention that you can avoid the negatives of the Fermented Marula (-10% energy) as long as you use them when you are already at 0% energy. If one succeeds and you get the +10% boost, you can just go back to explore and use it up again before trying another! :) It’s a bit time consuming, sure, but if you need energy and have nothing better to do it isn’t so bad!

Ah, yes, I was gonna add that but I suppose I forgot! The coding for this thread is really messy so I must have glanced over the fact I forgot to write that. I'll go ahead and update it!

Not an item, but to get more energy for this event you could visit the Gorilla Enclave and fulfil a quest, since one of the rewards you can choose is energy and it'll give 60% energy.

Random thing to keep in mind, there are encounter that give you +15 energy randomly. I've encountered some immediately upon my first move in explore more than once (and occasionally twice in a row right off too). So, if really looking to not waste any potential energy, and have plenty of time to check in, you should try to explore when energy hits 60 - 80 rather than waiting until 100 on the chance that you get one of those right away.

Thank you! Looking forward to the event as I wasn’t here for it last year. (I rage quit the game for 11 months after being unable to win territory fights XD). Good to know I can finally make good GB (and begin breeding projects). Will refer to this guide heavily :3

One thing, adding that fermented marula fruit should onky be used at 0% energy, if you get +10% use it IMMEDIATLY BEFORE using another fermented fermula fruit

Also, lion balls are worth around 25-35 gb outside the season and can be used to breed Doube Uterus, which is a very valuable mutation, so profit is there!
