She was born into a prosperous pride. Ever since she was young she had it all. Except one thing. She was an infertile Queen. The King loved her even though, but she felt like a burden. She hunted more, trained more, watched the cubs in her past time, she was doing everything she could to make up for what she didnt have. But soon she started to lose sleep. The images of the kings heartfelt look when his newborns were born. The happiness the other lionesses gave him couldnt be replaced by food.

In the middle of the night she rose up, going into the dark woods. She looked up to a deity. It was no God. A demon if anything. But she knew its powers. She called for the deity and it showed itself. Its smile made her fur stand up and every instinct was telling her to run. But she didnt move.

"You called onto me, will you run like the others?"

The lioness dug her claws into the soft soil underneath her to keep from running,

"No. I will not."

"Your need must be important then." The dark entity snickered, drawing closer.

The lioness bit her tongue to keep from gagging as the stench of death filled her nose.

"I wish for cubs."

The entity stared at her for a long moment before nodding. He smiled, showing off his yellow fangs,

"I can give you more cubs than you'll ever need. You will have twice the cubs the others would, every other having the same gift as you. Your king will cherish you and your cubs will be worth fortunes."

The lioness's eyes sparkled. That was all she ever wanted. She would become the most important lioness. He wouldnt even need the other lions. But she knew better not to agree so quickly.

"And what do you want from this?"

The entity sat down, his burnt tail curled around his paws.

"Your first born should be offered to me. If not I'll take her myself."

The lioness thought over it, one cub gone. It wasnt that bad. Better than having no cubs. So she nodded.

Mahairi was born as the sun rose on the last day of spring. The lioness quickly cleaned her soft golden fur, feeling the small newborn moving underneath her. She was overwhelmed by joy as she looked down at her other cubs. The king inched forward but she snapped her head towards him and growled. Her babies needed space. She no longer cared for what the king thought. She held her babies close to her, cherishing every moment she had.

A whole week had passed, she never left her baby's side. Anytime anyone would get close, even broods or healers, she would snarl a warning until they backed away. She had never felt this motherly love before. She convinced herself the demon would see her love for the babies and feel pity, no longer wanting to take the first born. But as the weeks went by a famine started to spread through their lands. They would wake up, all their food gone and in blood the words "Remember" was painted on the nursery cave walls. The pride was in a panic. They didnt know the sacrifice she would have to make.

The lioness knew Mahairi would be found eventually. That the demon would take her in the middle of the night. So once she was an adol she brought her to the edge of their territory with her two closest sisters. She nodded to the forest and with tears streaming down her face she spoke her last few words to her,

"Go. Find a strong pride to protect you from the wrath of this demon. You are special. I can feel it. You bear the gift I have. Use it, use it to your advantage and woo kings to protect you." She leaned down, licking her three babies one last time before they left the pride.

The three siblings had ventured far from their home, further than any of them had ever gone before. The days had turned into weeks, and the weeks into months. Mahairi felt a sense of accomplishment at their escape, but she also knew that they couldn't keep running forever. They needed to find a place where they could finally feel safe.

One day, as they were hunting together, Mahairi tripped and fell, her leg snapping beneath her weight. The pain was excruciating, and she struggled to move. Navi and Luscinia looked at each other, panic rising in their eyes. They didn't know what to do.

As they were considering their options, a male lion appeared on the horizon. He had yellow fur, and his eyes were a piercing gold. Mahairi had never seen a lion like him before. As he approached them, she realized that he was much larger than any other lion she had ever encountered. His presence was commanding, and she felt a strange mixture of fear and respect.

The male lion introduced himself as Lono, the god of healing. He explained that he had sensed Mahairi's injury and had come to help them. To their surprise, he told them that he would take her back to his pride and care for her. He promised that she would be safe there and that he would do everything in his power to heal her.

Mahairi was initially hesitant, but Lono assured her that his pride would welcome them with open arms. They had nowhere else to go, and Lono was the only one who had offered them any help. Reluctantly, they agreed to follow him.

As they arrived at Lono's pride, Mahairi was struck by the sheer size and strength of the pride that surrounded them. Their leader, Elowen, seemed to exude power and authority. The female lions were just as impressive, with each one possessing a unique beauty that set them apart from one another.

The pride members welcomed them with open arms, treating Mahairi's injury with the utmost care. They even offered to help them to adjust to their new surroundings. At first, Mahairi was wary of the other lions, sensing their apprehension towards her. She knew that she was different from them in many ways, and she couldn't help but feel like an outsider.

Despite these feelings, she couldn't deny that there was something about Lono that drew her to him. His eyes seemed to hold a wisdom that she had never encountered before. He was both gentle and fierce, and she found herself fascinated by his strength. As time went on, she began to realize that she was falling in love with him.

But she wouldnt dream of confessing. He seemed to hate her. Glaring and her and throwing insults.

One day, as they were out hunting, Lono insulted her and it hurt. She turned and snapped at him.

"What is wrong with you!"

"Watch your language Mahairi. You're talking to a god."

"Well please forgive me your grace!"

"Your grace??"

She growled, swiping her claw across his face. But when she saw the blood trickle down his face she froze,

"I-Im sorry- I didnt mean to hurt you" She whimpered quietly, her ears pinning back.

Lono stood there in shock, he slid his tongue over his muzzle, tasting the blood before he looks at Mahairi. He sighed,

"No im sorry."

They stood in awkward silence for a moment before Lono began again,

"I know you dont feel the same. But I love you. And- I've been an asshole cause of it."

"You-.. love me?"

He told her that he had never felt this way about anyone before and that he wanted her to be his mate. Mahairi was taken aback by his words, but deep down, she knew that she felt the same way. They spent the rest of the day together, getting to know each other better, and before long, they found themselves lost in the passion of their newfound love.

Their relationship only strengthened over time, and Mahairi found herself growing more content and secure in her new life with Lono and the pride. She became an important member of the pride, helping to train the younger lions and sharing her knowledge of healing with the other females. Her sisters, too, had found their places among them, proving to be a skilled hunter and leader.

One day, as they were resting after a successful hunt, Lono turned to Mahairi and proposed something that left her speechless with joy. He wanted to have cubs with her, to start a new generation and continue their legacy. Mahairi, overwhelmed with emotion, could only nod in agreement. The thought of becoming a mother filled her with a warmth and love that she had never experienced before.

But then something happened. The prey grew sparse. A famine was spreading through the pride. And Mahairi knew the deity had found her. She knows she has to kill the deity. But she has to do this secretly without anyone she loves getting hurt. She runs away without telling anyone. She heard stories about an angel living among mortals. A demon killer. That was her new mission. Find this angel and get her to teach her how to kill.

---

After a long time she finally found her. Seraphim. Seraphim agreed to help train her so one day she can confront this deity and kill it.
