Respiri profondi growled as she saw the report in front of her.

How has this happened?!
Who could have killed 27 Lionesses?!
Surely that was a mistake, it couldn't have been 27. Someone must be mistaken.
And 4 suspects? 0 witnesses? This would take ages to solve!
She heard snarls and growls alone with shuffling and loud noises and knew that her employees must be taking care of the suspected subjects.

“I didn't do it! What made you think I did?!” a loud voice snarled. Harpy, she was a member of Respiri profondi’s pride as well, it was unsettling to know she was a suspect.

“We have our reasons, you'll know at your trial.” A guard growled. There was more loud shuffling and then a slam. Respiri profondi padded over to the noise to see Harper in a rune shield.
(Rune shield: a shield type prison made from the energy of runes that normal lions cannot escape from)

“Harper quit struggling, you'll make it worse for yourself.” She sighed, standing in front of the shield.

“You. You put me in here!” Harper snarled, clawing at the shield. Respiri profondi didn't flinch, knowing the shield couldn't be broken.

“Calm down.” she said calmly. Harper growled and Respiri profondi moved over to the next rune shield holding a suspect.
These two were next to each other, they were sisters and had requested that. They had surprisingly behaved and didn't struggle so Respiri profondi let them.

“How are you two?” She asked politely. Bea yawned and Raya was lying on the ground.

“Tired. We can't sleep with the yowling of that one and now with this new one we will never be able to sleep” Bea, the younger, whined. Raya started laughing and rolled on her back. Respiri profondi shivered. She hated Raya’s laugh.

“Well I'm sorry, you'll just have to deal with it for a bit.” she said. Bea gave a dramatic sigh and Raya chuckled.

She moved on the last shield.
Adalynn, she had a disturbing secret that also freaked out Respiri profondi. She ate lions. It was mainly her diet. But she had vowed to herself and the pride that she only killed and ate weak, sick, dying, or already dead lions. But when the murders started happening, she was taken in, despite her threats and harsh words.

“Good evening Adalynn.” Respiri profondi said, dipping her heat. Adalynn snorted and didn't look at her. At least she had eaten a bit of her food.

Respiri profondi honestly felt bad for her. She believed her, she believed she didn't kill those lions. But she was ordered to take her in so she didn't question orders.

But who of these did it? They all claimed innocence and none showed any signs of being guilty.
To uncover this would be tricky…
