helloo!!! i figure there'll be at least a COUPLE fursuiters on the lion sim game. so. i'm looking to learn how to make fursuits. that's the gist of it.

so uhhh like i dont really know how to do ANY of it. i dont understand how to make a template or measure stuff out or where to buy fabrics or how to acquire just any material, really... so, basically any tips about the fursuit making process, or, if you aren't a maker, just kind of features of your suit and fursuiting in general that you think are helpful ? (ie. ventilation, what the wear under it, how to keep it sturdy on your head, etc)

but yeah, as i say, just any kind of tip at all is great. i would be looking towards making more realistic fursuits, but obviously that's a lot harder than cartoony ones so i'd probably make cartoony ones to start lol

thank you for any help!!

Hiya! I am kinda a maker lol, I usually buy foam from Walmart, 1 inch and two inch. I also really find getting a mannequin bust to put your fursuit on it to make sure that the head is actually wearable. There’s a lot of good videos on youtube on how to make a bucket head for the base of the fursuit head! I recommend watching as many videos as you can. I would recommend getting a balaclava to put the foam on, it makes sure you don’t sweat onto the foam, which and rot the foam, and keeps you kinda cool in the head. I prefer having a lined suit because I’m allergic to foam and latex so make sure you aren’t allergic to foam or latex before you start wearing the fursuit. For fur there’s a lot of good furs you can buy on line, but they are expensive because theyre high quality, I love using howl fabrics! You can also get fur from Joann’s but it is much lower in quality compared to ones bought from makers. I would say some stuff that is helpful in fursuits are fans if you can fit them in there. I overheat very easily, so fans are god sent! For realistic fursuits, you can buy plaster bases if you were looking for a extremely realistic look. For eyes on realistic fursuits I use resin that i make into a circle and paint on it to make it look like an eye. You can also buy premade eyes or get eye blanks on fursuit supply websites, or Etsy! If you’re looking to use a spary to make the fursuit smell good avoid eucalyptus, it rots the fur . For shaving fur I love using pet grooming shavers, wear masks when shaving fur because the microfibers in the fur will get into your lungs which is not good at all. Hopefully this helps a little bit ^^
