I got nothing else to do and I love sharing my knowledge! Ask away and I will try to answer all of your questions.

Keep In Mind:
- You are more than welcome to do your own research. What I answer is based off of what I have studied and to my own understanding.

-Just because I say one thing, dose not make it fact. In science nothing is "proven" because science is constantly changing.

- Please do not ask for tips or advice for your own pets, because I can't provide it to you due to Lioden's rules.

If there's any confusion a Herpetologist is a scientist who studies reptiles and amphibians so that is what I have the most knowledge in but I have been traveling the world for years

That's a really good question but it will have to depend on the continent. As I have seen multiple different species while traveling the world. It might be easier to narrow it down to a continent or two. Sorry I can't give you exactly what you asked I just have WAY too many cool stories

What is the best species of gecko? What's your favorite Caecilian? If you could provide infinite funding and personel for study of one group, what would it be? If you could bring a recently extinct herp back, what would you bring back?

Now I'm going to try to keep this as clear as I can because I've been known to ramble so I will try to just answer the question and not throw out random stuff lol

For the gecko question my favorite terrestrial gecko is the Rough knob tailed gecko (Nephrurus amyae) or the Lizard snake (Pygopodidae).

Favorite caecillian is the sticky or yellow banded caecillian (Ichthyophis glutinosus) because of its vibrant colors and how they eat

I would fund USARK because of what they do for not only reptile keepers but for the reptile community as a whole protecting the vulnerable species and getting rights for keepers and zoos.

And finally I would bring back the Jamaican Giant Galliwasp (Celestus occiduus) because of how little is know about them and I kinda am biased because I wrote my thesis paper in college over Haitian giant galliwasps

Artis it's a very close three way tie between the Long-Tailed Widowbird (Euplectes progne), the Elephant shrew (Macroscelides proboscideus) and the Bearded Vulture (Gypaetus barbatus). I can't decide between these as a favorite because of just how biodiverse Africa is and how these animals are adapted to live in very rough conditions that not many can

Just want to say hi to a fellow biologist! Im in marine biology, reptiles are not my cup of tea but it was fun to learn how to capture + release them for scientific data on their population during my years learning the job of a Bio-Ecologist. I have a diploma in that field (bioecology), so i have a formation on how to manage fauna and plants + how to collect data on certain populations of differents animals (reptiles, amphibians, birds, small mammalians, fish, bats) and how to identify almost all the species of our country. Next diploma is gonna be Marine Biology, i still have 2 other years to do but im getting there!

The Wallace's flying frog's (Rhacophorus nigropalmatus). This species found in the jungles of Malaysia and Borneo has the unique ability to flyβ€”or more accurately, deploy a leg-powered parachute. It has long, webbed toes that can flex and spread out to act as tiny wind sails, which it uses when it feels threatened. To escape danger, it will leap from branches, spreading its feet to glide as far as 50 feet to safety.

It spends almost its entire life in trees, venturing to the ground only to mate and lay eggs. The female lays eggs in a nest that's suspended over water. When the embryos have developed into tadpoles within the eggs, the nest breaks open and the tadpoles fall into the water below, where they grow and develop further. If the nest happens to open onto land, the tadpoles will dry up and die.

It was hard at first because most jobs are just taken by general Biology degrees because they have widespread knowledge and not focusing only on zoology or in my case Herpetology so I would be stuck working freelance and only as a consultant and not get paid but I stuck it out and now work as a reptile distributor for zoos in my area and teach on the side. I still work and help out as a consultant when I can because I'm the only zoologist/Herpetologist in my area that decided that traveling the world would be put on the back burners so I stayed local until I am ready to leave which is coming up in a few years because ive been downsizing a lot and having my friends help out my business when i have to leave and travel for work
