Tacua's Shop/Quests!




✸Note: This isn’t a suggestion post! Tacua is an OC made to be a fake vendor/shopkeep NPC! I just thought too in-depth about him and wanted to make a post like this for his fake little shop!✸

Tacua is an NPC that appears in the mini-event “Call of The Entomologist”, which happens every week on Wednesday, where his shop banner would be available under Crossroads, or in the Battle Beetles area (I haven't decided) It uses the currency Potent herbs (PH), as a reference to beetles eating them, and has a heavy focus on the Battle Beetle concept!



I'm a huge bug nerd and always wanted there to be more of a reason to collect beetles other than rare crafting recipes, so I just made it myself LMAO I might add more than this in the future, so keep an eye out!

«Grub Exchange»

Similar to the Gorilla enclave, you can request a quest from Tacua to exchange beetle grubs for Potent herbs, IMP and EXP, either easy, medium, or hard difficulty

Easy quests will only look for common and uncommon grubs you can find from explore



Medium quests will look for common, uncommon, and rare grubs, with fixed sex



Hard quests will look for common, uncommon, and rare grubs, with fixed sex and color



Easy: 2 Potent Herbs,( LVL x40 EXP or 5 IMP)
Medium: 3 Potent Herbs, (LVL x80 EXP or 7 IMP)
Difficult: 5 Potent Herbs, (LVL x120 EXP or 10 IMP)

You can take 5 quests per day, just to even out the rarity of him appearing.

«Tacua's shop»

A lot of his items in his shop would be rotating unique insect/insect themed decor plus a couple of own unique beetles, with one being Tacua speciosa, the cicada he's named after. His bag would probably be a decor up for sale, as would a lot of things like Jewel beetle jewelry, butterfly mane accessories, etc. etc.
I could also see him having some silly little beetle breeding items, like something that boosts stats, or the possibility of a parent's color passing!

Though, the main big draws of of his shop would be Grubs, and Crunchy Worms, because of course those of all things would be in there.

Grubs cost 20 potent herbs, while Crunchy worms cost 100.



In one day, if doing 5 easy quests, you could easily get 10 PH, with difficult giving you 25 PH per day

I could also see Tacua having items called "Ochre Moth" and "Ochre Shell" That pass mane shape and mane color respectively, but that's a bit more out there.
Ochre Moth would be based on the Flannel Moth due to it's insane levels of fluffiness
Ochre Shell would be based on beetle elytra

«Extra Tacua nonsense»

🦋 Tacua will probably never end up growing a full mane. He's in his early adult years, and the Tsavo genetics are clear as day.

🦋 He was named Tacua due to him being loud. I was torn between Tacua and Kipepeo as names for him, Kipepeo (Which is Swahili for butterfly), because he's sporadic, fragile, and kinda jittery, or Tacua (Named after the Giant Colorful cicada, Tacua Speciosa), because he's very, very loud and has a habit of running into shit LMAO

🦋 If Tacua were a type of food, he’d be tropical gummy worms or just straight up those suckers with real bugs in them. Very much overpowering mango and orange flavors.

🦋 Him and Tinteku are definitely friends, though Tinteku's definitely not as big of a fan of the beetles as Tacua, he does his best to support him.

🦋 He has tried fighting in the May tournaments before, but he lost so bad he ended up dropping out and decided to spectate instead. Doesn't mean he didn't do his best! He's just. Definitely not the best fighter himself, but he's got the spirit for it!

🦋 He's infamous for going on for hours, but that's just because he's passionate. He's always happy to have new friends to listen to his ramblings. Sit him down and talk to him about bugs for an hour or two, and he'll be over the moon, he's just a sweet guy, even if he has a reputation for being a... LOT.

🦋 If he were any other animal than a lion, he'd be a ferret. Lots of over-excited bouncing around and running into things like a goofy little noodle.

🦋 I think a funny lore reason for him constantly being hyped up to hell and back is just- Him eating a LOT of grubs. So many little energy worms. They ARE in his shop, so it's a really dumb and silly possibility LMAO

🦋 His whiskers are near constantly crinkled, it's a bit ridiculous, really.

🦋 His bag is full to the brim with beetles, and it's canonically always buzzing. I don't know how he puts up with it.

🦋 I'm not exactly sure where he came from, but I could see him lore-wise being a former tree cub for giggles.
