I just really need to get some stuff off my chest and I have nobody in real life to rant to so I'll just complain here even though chances are nobody is going to read it. I'm graduating high school this Saturday and I'm absolutely terrified. I feel like everything has been a waste of time because I'm not graduating with honors and this year I lost every friend I had for one reason or another so now I have no one to vent to.

I mean, firstly, congratulations! Graduating high school isn't something everyone can do. It almost broke me, and my friend dropped out to get their GED as a junior.

Also, I stopped talking to everyone from high school the day after we left the building, most people I called friends and all. That shit just kinda happens. Most people from high school don't stay friends. They grow up, grow away, grow different. Or just lose contact after they're not forced to be in the same building for 8 hours 5 days a week. I don't know the circumstances so I won't say too much, but try to consider the whole shitshow a learning experience for your present. Something happened, and you might be able to learn from it. (Friends aren't just people for you to vent to!)

If you're lonely, Discord servers are usually okay, but I've never stayed in any for long. I've gotten a few friends through roleplaying. If you need to actually vent and are distressed, there are free textlines for multiple countries that have real trained people talk you through the crisis. I used them a lot when I was younger.

I was a straight-A student for my entire high school career until 2020. My highest grade my first sophomore semester was a 40%. My life fucking crashed. I picked back up the pieces over the years. No, I didn't graduate with honors, but I'm still excelling in college and have no debt due to scholarships and grants. I'm not going to an Ivy League school, or even a private one. It's a modest online public course. But no one actually cares that much in the adult world. I lost my honors, I lost my mother, I lost my home, but I've rebuilt.

You can too. Not graduating with honors in high school isn't the end of the road. It feels so big, but in truth, unless you were trying to get into some rich big-time school, lots of colleges will accept you without honors.

I'm just assuming college was your goal since you're worried about honors, but if college isn't on the menu, then it really matters even less. Your worth as a human being isn't connected to an honors diploma.
