Beginners Guide to LD

Hi all! In partnership with the Newbies Get Lions Clan! As well as help from Manju #11890, we present to you a beginners guide to Lioden! In this guide we will go over some key game features that we notice newer members struggle with and breaking down the main elements for easier gameplay!

It is important that we mention we are not Lioden! We are watering down these features for easier understanding, we still highly recommend resorting to the wiki or even modbox for stuff youre struggling to understand!

In this guide we are going over features such as;

- Territory
- Earning GB & SB
- Pricing
- Breeding
- Mut/Gen & Heritage Repping
- Statting
- Breed Only Traits
- Lioden Lingo

If you have more to suggest within reason please reply below! We will try our best to add it in! And if you have any contributions you want to add to the existing guide youre also welcome to drop them below too, we are aiming for a flexible and easy to follow guide!

Territory!

When increasing your territory, although Lioden gives you an option to buy your territory slots you can also fight for your slots too! For your first 40 slots you can fight others in PVP for your territory!
- There is many ways you can find others to PVP, however the recommended and quickest way to do this is by going to the search section in crossroads! making sure you stay on the "search for lions" tab!
- Than after youre there in the general options, click the main male button, making sure theres a tick!, then on that same section go to "level", press the "at least" drop down bar and change it to "no more than" and add your kings level in the small box beside it! You can find your level on the bar by the side of your browser where your energy level, impression etc is!
- After you have filled that in, scroll down and hit search!!

After that hit search, you will hopefully be met with an assortment of kings that are online and can fight for your territory! There is a small dropdown in the left corner where all the kings names will be, press that and press Stats (desc) and search again!!

You can click on any king you like and by scrolling down on their den, right under where all their caves are there is a small section stating "Attack this Lion!" (There is a cooldown for when players have been attacked! If you are met with that simply go back and chose a different king!)
Press the dropdown that will have "skill" on it and select the "territory" option! Then press attack! Fingers crossed you win!

its important to note that the king you attack needs to have more territory slots than you do for you to attack them!

However it is also important to note this only works up to territory space 40, after that the only option to purchase slots is through beetles, which changes every 100 or so slots, here is a screenshot from the wiki with a chart indicating the price ranges!

Earning GB

Earning currency is arguably one of the harder things to accomplish in this game, here I will give you some handy tips on how to earn a little bit of money to get you started!!
These are year round! This does not include event item exclusive sales!

- Play the Lioden Minigames in Crossroads!! Such as Serengeti Shuffle, Whack a Snake and Lioden Trivia all give you SB rewards! However it is important to remember it is RNG so youre not guaranteed money!

- Decor rewards from the minigames also sell really well!

- Sell food! Selling 100 uses of food for 1gb is a good and easy way to earn some money! Make sure you leave some food for you and your ladies though! given the lioden market the sell rates for this can fluctuate given certain events!
Make sure you use big carcass's as generally that's what buyers are looking for.

- As well as selling food, selling skulls, most commonly lion skulls and elephant skulls can sell well on branches for 70-200 SB, the prices fluctuate and can very over the months!

- Sell in-heat NCLS for 10-50 SB each!! Do be courteous of space in your pride!

- Sell nesting material for 60SB

- Sell amusement items (which you can find on your hoard, by pressing the filter drop-down and clicking "amusement") for 10SB per use!

If you have any more to add please do let me know below! the more the better!

Pricing

Pricing can be both opinionated and quite tricky to manage over the course of the year given that prices change in the market, I am only giving the best option that me and other members came together and agreed would be the easiest to manage, if you think otherwise and would like to suggest tweaks and changes that you think could benefit this suggestion please drop them below!

LIONS
Lions are very plentiful, so they dont hold much inherent value. most of their value comes from rare traits, and the rarer or more exclusive, the more valuable they are. traits that can't be applied (known as breed only) are more difficult to get, and thus tend to be more valuable. Its important to check the tiers and wiki for breed only traits, as well as mutations. Ensure you look through trading centre for lions with similar attributes. Although their prices fluctuate throughout the year we are going to provide you with same base prices for some traits to help you find a middle ground when pricing your lions!!

  • Patches and Pies generally start of at 1GB

  • Special Bases also commonly start off at 1GB

  • Primals also starting at 1GB

  • Ferus Muts usually begin at 7GB

  • Dwarves start at around 25GB

  • Hybrids begin at 180GB

  • Combo Bases commonly sit around 50-100GB quite usually depends on the base itself!)

ITEMS
Price checking items is a lot easier than lions! Your safest option is to go to branches in crossroads and search the item youre looking to sell. Most commonly the first sales are underpriced on purpose and its best to look at the middle range prices on the page to get a general idea! If your item is not coming up on branches you can then search it up on TC and continue the same process!!

You should always price check your items to ensure youre paying full price for what youre selling, the Lioden market changes throughout the year and so do the items in it!

Breeding

Breeding is one of the more intricate parts of this game, we cannot cover everything that the game has to offer, as well as that Lioden is constantly adding and tweaking existing items as the game progresses, its always good to check the wiki, community posts, or further in depth guides for proper guidance when using breeding items for the first time.

Some important things to remember when breeding for mutations or a specific goal
- Lower fertility lioness's are more likely to produce a mutated cub naturally
- If you are breeding for a marking pass from a lioness, usually its recommended to find a lion with your desired marking in the same slot as the lioness youre looking to breed,

Passable VS Non-Passable
There are passable mutations and non passable mutations, passable mutations in simple terms are mutations that a cub can carry from their parents, these mutations do not require a lion scrotum. Such as pies, patches, and some primal variants. Hybrid mothers strictly can also pass their mutation
Non-passable mutations are pretty much every other mutation, such as AMP's, Lethals, Eyeless etc, requiring a lion scrotum on a mutated mother to potentially pass your desired mutation.

Primal Breeding
- Regular primal mutations can be passed down from Primal males (including their varitions), including Ennedi Vossoko and Ferus females!
- Ennedi Vossoko is mutation can only be passed down from Primal Ennedi Vossoko male and females. Male and female offspring can inherit this mutation, but only if a Ennedi Vossoko parent is bred to a Primal, Ennedi Vossoko, Felis, Ferus or Smilus parent.
- Felis mutations can only be passed down from Primal males (including variations) and Ferus females.
- Ferus mutations can only be passed down from Ferus males and females
- Smilus mutations can only be passed down from Primal males (including variations) and Ferus females. This is a male only mutation!

Passable VS Non-Passable List

Breeding items!

Black stallions are single use only items that you equip to a lioness that you're struggling to breed! Attaching it ensures your lioness will be bred on her first try! this does not work on infertile lioness's!. This can be used on any female lioness!

Buffalo Scrotums ensure a minimum of 3 cubs on your lioness's next heat! To use this item it attaches to the male breeding to the female. If you were to breed a female yourself youd equip it to your king, if you were using a separate stud youd equip the item on your stud request!

Cotton root bark is an item that can be applied to your desired lioness, when doing so it will cause the lioness the miscarry and will be breedable again in 3 days. Once you breed her the chances for a mutated cub increase, CRBS can stack with other breeding items! Though it usually isnt recommended given it miscarries the previous litter!

Crunchy Worms increase the chances of a mothers looks completely cloning onto a cub, There is a 25% chance per litter (not per cub!) it is usually recommended to use a Rock Salt and Opal Saltlick on crunchy litters to help boost the natural cloning. That being said crunchies do stack with other breeding items.

GMO Cows hold a similar purpose as CRB's do! Feeding this to your lioness increases the chances of a mutated cub! The stats are higher than a CRB. Gmo cows do not inflict a miscarriage either. They can be stacked with other breeding items, but not with other gmo cows.

Grain of paradise holds a similar purpose to a buffalo scrotum, ensuring at least 2 cubs on your lioness's next litter by feeding it to the main male/stud she is going to breed with! this can stack with other breeding items!!

A great tit ensures that your lioness's litter will be all female by feeding this to the male shes breeding to! this can stack with other breeding items!!

A kob horn increases the litters agility! this does not stack with other stat increasing items such as roasted vulture and shamanic stew! However it does stack with other breeding items of different purposes!

Leopard Tails boosts the chance of a random rosette on cubs by 5% and boosts the chance for existing Pardus markings to pass down. This effect stacks if used on both parents.

Lion meats hold the same purpose as CRB's and GMO Cows! They increase the chances of a mutated cub, by equipping this item you may not use a Lion scrotum on your lioness.

Lion Scrotums increase the chances of a non-passable mutation in a litter by 25%, however that decreases for Double Uterus down to 5%, this item excludes pass rates for mutations of Hybrids, Primals, Felis, and Ferus's.

Mukombero simply ensures a Ferus mutation! give this to a non-mutated lioness, then breed her at night! and at least one cub will be a Ferus Primal!

Ochre Gnawrocks purpose is to be given to the stud of your choice, by doing so you can pick a marking that the main male has to pass onto your litter! Also in the same slot with the same opacity as the parent. Can only be used once per parent per breeding, however it does stack with other breeding items!

Ochre Powders hold a similar use to Gnawrocks, it increases the chance of non-rosette markings passing to cubs by 10%. This effect stacks if used on both mother and father, if it is used with an ochre gnawrock t will ignore guaranteed slot and increase chances of others!

Ochre Saltlicks hold a similar purpose to crunchy worms, give this to your stud/ main male and the next litter will inherit the mane shape and mane colour from the parent you chose! This stacks with other breeding items!

Similarly by equipping an ochre saltlick to your main male or the stud of your choosing their next litter inherit the eye colour from the parent you chose!

Pennyroyals are a primal item! by using this item on your main male/stud of your choosing, it boosts the chances of a mutation variation for their next litter. Currently it can only be given to Primals. Boosts chance of a Ferus cub if both parents are Ferus. This can be stacked with other breeding items!

Red cock hold the same purpose as a great tit, by feeding this to your main male/ stud it will make their next litter entirely male!! This can be stacked with other breeding items!

A Roasted Vulture when equipped will boost your main male/ chosen stud will boost the cubs speed stats! This does not stack with other stat enhancing items however will stack with other breeding items of a different purpose!

A Rock Salt purpose is simply to be equipped to your main male/ chosen stud to ensure the cubs in his next breeding will inherit the skin colour from the parent you chose! This stacks with other breeding items!!

Shamanic Stew is another stat increasing item! Having the same purpose and requirements as the previous stat items, it does not stack with Kob Horns or a Roasted Vulture but can stack with other breeding items!

Yohimbe Bark is a single use item that decreases your chosen lioness's heat cooldown by one day! You will need multiple of these items to significantly reduce the lioness's cooldown. In doing so you can get more heats out of her.

A zebra heart can be used on your chosen lioness to force her immediately into heat however it only works if she is not currently on a breeding cooldown, its commonly used for lions first ever heats once they age up!

Mut/Gen/Stat Repping!

It is time to retire or replace your king!! Whether you be retiring them due to old age or doing it early youve saved 10GB for the special moment! However you keep seeing people talk about, Mut Reps, or Heritage Reps. What are they exactly?

When you decide to change your king up you have two options! You can use the appearance of your chosen HEIR! Which is the lion that will be replacing your king completely. However there is also another option stating "keep the appearance of my current male" Which in simple terms means the lion you already have kinged will be replicated onto the lion youre replacing them with, however the replacement lions stats, heritage, etc will be kept!
This is also a note taken from the wiki which is incredibly useful knowledge to know! If you have an heir that is 10 years 1 month of age or older, they will be de-aged down to 8 years of age when kinged. If you have an heir that is 2 years 11 months or younger, they will be aged up to 3 years of age when kinged.

It is important to remember that this process is expensive, to retire your king early it is already 10 GB on its own, however there remains a cooldown period before you can retire your king early again, if you want to bypass this its an extra 15GB. Overall making the investment 25GB in total

MUT REPPING
All of the repping techniques are generally the same, if youre ready to retire your king but you like the way he looks, you might consider getting a standard male with a pie, patches or primal mutation. Its best to go for lower markings to reduce prices! You could also consider factors such as his gen to increase stud purchases! After youve found one you liked get your 10gb ready and scroll down to retire your king! make sure you chose the mutated lion and "keep the appearance of current male" mutation is linked to stats so in this case your heir's mutation will carry on!
with muts you would want to consider factors such as what you want to pass, some primal variants can't pass others, some are more "efficient"
- know what the minimum gen certain muts can be if you're looking for that kind of thing, for example g1 ferus don't exist
- Some muts lose less value at g2/3 vs g1. Ferus can only be g2+ so a g3 ferus is still considered "valuable." Same with dorsal fur. Some pie/patch patterns can only be gotten from the og b&w mod and so g2/3 studs are more common and not as big of a deal.

Heritage Reps
Heritage reps are simply low gen lions with no special attributes that people solely use to replicate their current king with a lower generation than their current one, most commonly G1-2
These replacement lions are usually referred to as groupies and can be found in the may event, if you have time it is recommended that you get a male groupie and freeze him but putting them on an account that doesnt roll over for a prolonged period of time. Unfreezing him when the time comes to patrol him or whatever else you plan on doing.
Heritage repping can also be handy if you want to have a G1 Mutated King. Some mutations such as pies and patches can be equipable by a Mutie on Demand, however those remain quite expensive.
The system works the exact same as mut repping, by choosing your current heir and selecting the "keep appearance of current male" option.

Stat Repping
Stat repping is a fun and other unique way to replicate your king with much higher stats then they currently have. Stat repping works similarly to heritage repping with the same mechanics. However instead of a low gen king its a super strong stat king with usually around 700-1000 stats.
- when buying stat reps, consider if you're willing to be related to leaderboard studs and check lineage accordingly
- know your goal for stat reps. you might be able to get one cheaper if you're willing to buy slightly lower stats and continue patrolling them yourself. also avoid buying stat reps if they're cubs/adols that haven't been trained
- also for stat reps, make sure you have infrastructure in place when you get them to feed/play/train. don't want to spend 50gb on a rep bought specifically for stats only to never give them any stat food/toys. Click this to be taken to the stat items page in the wiki!

Overall consider what your goals are. some people might not want a pie/patch king if they want to do a CRB project, mass breeders might want to skip on Ennedi because of the more strict passing requirements. However make sure you have a king you enjoy and that you are proud of.

Stats!

What do you do when your lion has under 100 stats? how do you breed high stats? what do you do to increase them?
Stats is another fun factor to lions and also a great breeding project, though expensive and time consuming, people like to breed for high stats, especially in kings, it also makes combat focused events easier and any PVP battles as well.

How do you increase your stats? there are many ways you can do this!
  • Training your cubs in crossroads daily is a great starter!

  • Cubs also use stat items, ideally you should go amusement and then food as most stat food raises mood for max gains!

  • For female lions, hunt them constantly. if you want max gains youll want to maximise the use of gmo chickens and hunt refreshes, however its important to mention once you put an adolescent female on a hunt they are not sex-changeable

  • For males on the other hand there are a few other ways you can increase stats, at a minimum, patrol heirs until age 3. lions below age 3 will be aged up when kinged, so you're wasting free stats if you don't.

  • For maximum gain, patrol heirs until they reach exactly 14 years and 11 months and then king them. lions above age 8 will be aged down when kinged, so you'll get max time for statting
    after kinged.

  • You will want to use all of your exp items as soon as you king a lion and aim for the waterhole as soon as you can for the encounters. Also holding on to dove feasts until you reach the last few levels for maximum gains as well.

  • Explore aggressively, make sure to use all your energy on combat. slap lionesses, consider using and investing in coffee beans, roasted lambs, etc.

  • You could also consider using a may personality mask to get the stoic personality so you can fight even more.

  • Leveling your impression past dreamboat will always give +5 stats, make use of this. once you reach the mid-late 20s, impression will fill much faster than exp will.

  • Spar with a submale daily, and always choose the exp reward from the gorilla!

Breed Only Traits!

Admittedly this guide has cluelessly mentioned breed only or "bo" traits multiple times already, but what are they? What make breed only traits? If we were to list every single breed only trait we would be here for a very very long time, it is best to resort to the wiki or other extensive guides for how exactly to breed for these traits.
Breed only traits not only expand your world of Lioden but they advance down different paths and breeding projects! They also increase the price of your lions significantly and make for some beautiful lions!
Breed only traits can be found in bases, makings, eyes, mane shapes, and even skin colours! They usually account for a lot of Liodens traits within the game and can be bred by usually breeding two different traits together to account for a new trait! BO Traits mean that they cannot be applied by an applicator of any sort, however some can be applied by rare chance by an RMA (random marking applicator)

A good starting point is usually looking at your lions markings and their "tiers" though breed only traits do not have their own category there are some key things you can look out for! The main BO tiers are tier 2, which come from raffle lioness's, tier 4 which are rosettes, some parts of teir 3 which account for event studs, celestial raffles in the July and August events, along with part of tier 5 being just mottled rosettes and mottled stripes!

There are two things id reccomend at this given time! This extensive guide that lists all BO Traits! click here! This is a guide made by another clan owner for the raffle & combo base enthusiasm clan! so give them your appreciation!
However many Lioden players would also recommend Liomodded, which is a small browser extension that has a built in breed only trait checker! it saves you lots of time reading into breed only traits on the wiki!

Overall remember that breed only traits arent the only traits that accompany a pretty lion, there are many colourbombs and avid applicator enjoyers that produce lovely low bo colourbombs for their looks and have other amazing factors such as high stats!

Lioden Lingo!

Lastly how about a little bit of Lioden Lingo! This does not account for everything however were happy to add more if you guys request it in the replies!!

  • AMP - Adult Mutation Present

  • AB - Auto Buy

  • BO - Breed Only

  • CB - Current Bid

  • CSS - Cascading Style Sheet

  • DU - Double Uterus

  • FAPA - Feed All Play All

  • LF - Looking For

  • LD - Lioden

  • MI - Minimum Increase

  • NCL - Newly Claimed Lioness

  • RLC - Raffle Lioness Clone

  • RL - Raffle Lioness

  • RNG - Random Number Generator

  • RO - Rollover

  • RP - Roleplay

  • SB - Starting Bid

  • NRLC - Nearly Raffle Lioness Clone

  • PM - Private Message

  • VLF - Very Low Fertility

It is also good to note that Lioden players typically shorten the name of items such as Buffalo Scrotums being called buffies, Black Stallions being shortened to Stallions, Bark standing for Yohimbe Bark etc, if youd like a more in depth explanation please let us know!

Hi! all the personalities have their own unique effects when claiming ncls, rewards (such as some give you an extra energy boost)
overall though the Lion Mask will make your lion switch personality to a random common one (Kind/Neutral/Snarky) the Sangoma Lion Mask will let you pick a common personality for one of your lions. (Kind/Neutral/Snarky)
The Sangoma Ancestral Mask will let you pick any (non-event) personality for your lion. (Good/Kind/Neutral/Snarky/Evil)
