Anu, known as the lady of the dead, is a very well known Demi god within the Endless Desert. Her presence is borderline worshipped by the Endless Sands pride. They believe The lady of the dead only takes the bodies of those deserving of rebirth! If a lions' corpse rots, or is reduced to bones, before Anu can take it away then the lion was evil and didn't deserve the chance of eternal life.
Some wastelanders say they see the lady of the dead slowly walking through the desert dragging a corps of a lion with her... Scarring the trapped wastelanders in trying harder to survive in the vast desert.
Elio's Oasis always has one lioness born with the desire to do what Lady Anu does, he and Anu do not question it and just let the lion do what they desire to do...
The lady of the dead has a simple job, she is the burrier of the dead and the preventer of diseases. Her first appearance was a week after the mirage around the Oasis formed. She had come directly into the Endless Sands pride and taken the first King's dead body.
According to that day she came in like an eerie ghost, her paws gently gliding across the sand. "Do... Not... Be alarmed... I come for the dead King..." She groaned to the scared pride, like she hadn't spoken in years.
All where too spooked by her presence to stop the undead lioness, except the dead King's mate. She challenged and questioned the undead lioness, fearing it was like the others that roamed the desert during that time...
"I... Am not... Dead... I have... A job... To do... Control the sick... Return the dead..." She responded to the Queen. The Queen understood, her king was still contagious of the disease that took his mind... She couldn't let the others get sick!
And ever since that day, the pride of the Endless Sands lays their dead out in the desert, hoping for the lady of the dead to retrieve their loved one and prepare them for eternal life.
Anu is immune to all diseases, and is rumored to eat disease ridden carcasses including lion carcasses. Anu is weak to water, being an embalmed lioness she becomes unable to move when wet. It's her weakest point, and she must wait for the sun and the sand to dry her back out.
Thankfully Lady Anu's flesh is unappealing to other creatures, maybe from all the diseases she's supposedly ingested or simply because it is because her flesh is too dry?
