Mwendelezo/Matchitehew: Mwendelezo was originally just a "normal" lioness who had been brought to the pride when she was just a cub. She had been insistent that her birth pride was somehow incorrect, and she pestered her mother until she got so fed up that she dropped her off at a neighboring pride, this one to be exact-- which Mwendelezo seemed to accept happily. Ashanti and the broodmothers of the pride took her in quickly, and she became a regular pride member despite her mildly concerning antagonistic qualities. Nobody seemed to notice that she was slipping away at night, and she never seemed overly tired, so nobody had any reason to be suspicious of her. Mnyenyekevu: Mnyenyekevu was born outside of the pride and was exchanged for a hefty sum of shiny, valuable beetles. Ashanti had seen him as an adolescent from afar and knew right away that she wanted him to be the next king of the pride. He was powerful yet fair-- her two most sought in traits in an heir. She went straight to training him, and she kept him rather busy until the time came to pass the torch to him. He had only been king for mere hours before Mwendelezo, with the assistance of Apedemak, merged with his body.
