As Skalfreid and the Royal Family grew older, some lionesses in the Pride knew it was time to over thrown him. The old man had the will to keep going as Pride leader and so he needed to be dethroned. Acat and Royal were first to take the stand, collecting in secret lions who would stand beside them on the day of the coop. As the days came closer, they realized they needed to choose an heir. And along came the poison twins; Foxglove and Hemlock. Both beautiful in their own right, and fierce enough to take charge. The only matter left was to decide which one would take the thrown. Foxglove was ambitious and adventurous, but caring and strong willed. Hemlock was more collected at times but was determined, courageous, and gentle. At first the lionesses were going to decide on Foxglove but to their surprise the young lioness declined. “Having such a title as that… it seems anxiety ridden and claustrophobic. But I don’t know, I just want to go on adventures and hunts when I’m older. Maybe I could be the main huntress.. or Hunts Chief! Is that a thing? I’m going to make it a thing!” Foxglove said, bounding away to tell her mother and aunts of the new title she made up. The lionesses discussed with their group and in the end chose Hemlock as their heir. And so the day of battle began…
Now reader, you must understand some things about this Pride and their laws. A Pride without law is a disastrous place. Thus, when Skalfreid made the Pride he put just laws into place that even he could not escape when the time came.
One of the most important laws state that; any ruler tyrannical or not, may be challenged to battle and judged before the the Pride. If this ruler is defeated; they may be spared (chased out or retire) or be put to death by the challengers. If this ruler wins the battle; the challengers, how ever many there are, May be spared (chased out, retire, or continue) or be put to the death by the ruler.
Another important law states that; If a ruler is seen as guilty and is therefore defeated in battle, their family (Royal or Not) should not be harmed. Using this rule, when Skalfreid is to be challenged if he should lose then the Royal Family would live unharmed. It is up to the Challengers if they should loose their titles or not.
