Lady Leto's Den

A great golden shape was spread across the savanna grass, a powerful lion who at first was indecipherable from the kings of legend. But here was living flesh, a magnanimous lioness who sprouted a mane that flowed like sand. She rasped her tongue ever so gently over the three bundles curled in her fur. The leftmost looked to her with a glow in its eyes.
"Neriah-mor, is the mother made of flesh and bone?"
The great lion stifled a chuff.
"Why of course, little mane. Just because you do not see her bleed does not mean she has none. The gods are as frail as we."
Six sleepy eyes grew wider.
"Tell us a story! About the mother, pleease!"
The lioness' eyes became glazed, sweeping through the halls of memories. She rumbled in consideration. The cubs were nearly yearlings.
"Alright, I suppose you have earned it."

"Two figures circled through the dry grass, prowling with jaws baring savage fangs and eyes flashing with violent intent, bloodstains marring both beautiful coats. 'Wretched scab!' I heard her screech. 'What vileness brought you here?!' Our bitter god drew back her lips to snarl in hatred. 'Blood of my blood, my foot! Regas should have skinned you alive' she spat at the intruder. The other was deathly silent. Her golden hues did not contrast the sunset fur of her opponent, but they could not have looked more different. The latter finally spoke, in a tone built on years of gnawing hatred.
'You know why I came. What you did. I will tear the skin and fur from your bones, and your bitter throat from your neck, rip you into so many pieces that even your precious pantheon has nothing to salvage, for that is the feral, fearful animal I am.'
Everything was still. For one moment, a single second or an eternity, muscles tensed with explosive might. Then lion sprung at lion like the vicious animals they were and tore chunks from each other until teeth found lodge in the old god's throat, and the struggle was ended with a sickening crunch."
