PRIDE UPDATE 5/18/24: It would be an understatement to say that Olympus—only newly crowned king—was shocked when the savage lionesses all at once turned on him just as they had Othello. Even with all of his brute force he stood no chance against them. Dozens upon dozens of savage lionesses, even his very own offspring, lined up as a wall of claws and teeth between him and the territory that was once, though briefly, his kingdom. As the lionesses’ patience was waning and they began to lunge at the now-exiled king, he ran for his life into the brush, up the hill and steep western canyon wall as fast as he could. When he had climbed all the way up, and after catching his breath, he carefully peeked over the ledge of the cliff face, its shadow growing long over the territory as the sun headed for the horizon. And in that brief fleeting moment, in the last ray of sunlight before shade took over the lands, he saw the reason why he was removed from his post: Slowly ascending a large termite mound, with savage lionesses gathered all around and the last ray of the sun like a spotlight of destiny, a young and dark maned male lion appeared. It was evident and unmistakable that he was also of savage blood, but even as the youngster he surely was, his build, his features, even his poise and the confidence he exuded well surpassed his years. Where had they been hiding his young male, hardly more the a juvenile and yet now the king of one of the most formidable prides in all the land? Olympus accepted the reality of the situation—that he had been used not only to protect the pride (and inadvertently this important and well-kept secret), but also to create worthy females for this young male. He was bitter then, yes, but just out of the circle he saw a smaller circles of lionesses, and recognized his mother among them. Equinox, clever, cunning… he then smirked to himself as he realized that he wasn’t the only one getting duped. Clearly they were not done with their schemes. How long would it be until this new young male faced a similar fate? It was only a matter of time, and whenever that time comes, Olympus will be waiting.

Just then he noticed his mother staring directly at him, and two lionesses already running towards the hill. Even though it was the last time he would see her, he felt no closeness now. The bond was severed. He gave her a huff, and refusing to abandon his composure, slowly turned and trotted off into the sunset.

Phase two of the savage takeover has officially commenced. But the girls have their work cut out for them, as this young king is no fool. He grew up in the pride, even though on the outskirts so as to stay concealed and protected from the murderous habits of Olympus. Still, he had only ever been around savage adult lionesses—plenty knew of him and would come and fawn over him in his cub years—but suffice to say as the singular cub surrounded by these savage females, he observed much. And learned more than they could suspect. He knows how they operate, who has what strength, what behavior means to expect this or suspect that. He knows that they will never stop their plotting, but he intends to outwit them at every point in which they think they’ve finally reached achievement. No, this new phase will not be handed to them as the first one was. Some may die, some may be chased, but in all cases the savage lionesses will have to up their drive and grit if they think that they will EVER eject him from his throne.


PRIDE UPDATE 4/4/24: The first phase of a three part savage takeover is in affect. King Othello was ousted from his thrown by the very lionesses he took in and protected, as their allegiance to blood kin proved to be stronger than their obedience when their long lost brother, Olympus, returned to the pride lands. With King Othello ran out of the territory for good, all other lionesses in the pride fell in line—whether out of admiration or fear—as in short order Olympus ascended the newly vacant position as King. But this story is far from over, as what Olympus doesn’t realize is that he is merely a playing piece for a darker, vaster plot amongst the savage lionesses, all of which are eager to prove the value and strength of their pedigree, and will stop at nothing to ensure that the very King that they serve is the -exact- embodiment of that. And what is that for them?
