Soooo I'm really curious about the gaining/losing karma system. I'm going to keep track of things I do to gain karma here. :D

Ideally, I'd like to know the biome, season, and time as well as the action.

Any Biome - Any Time - Any Season
Cub ---> Frolic --- > Chance to impress an NCL, karma gain
Cub --- > Kill --- > Karma loss, EXP if you win against the lioness
Cub --- > Ignore --- > Nothing, probably
Filthy, stinky warthog! --- > Run Away -- > You run

I have decided to make a little experiment.

Now, the staff told us that there is no difference and no advantage or disadvantage if you choose to be of specific karma, other than not getting certain items you get from the other choices.

My lion on this account had 600+ points in good karma, and was Dreamboat of Ladies a month or so ago.

I have decided to check and see which one pays off more to be. So decided to instead of choosing a specific karma (so good karma) I will now choose what is the most profitable in all biomes.

The result summed up:
It pays off more to be a bad lion, and have bad karma, as the most profitable choices come from there, whereas good karma choices not always lead to any reward.

In detail what I chose and why it is more profitable:
Cub - Kill (chance for exp, SB, and impression) (-)
Warthog - kill (means 40% hunger fill) -I am sure you get karma here too for the choices (-)
Hornbill - kill (skull sells for more SB) (-)
Hornbill in jungle - bat at (get a toy worth SB) (-)
Aardvark - Help dig (get SB) (+)
Zorilla - attack (no loss of SB, and get carcass) (-)
Ostrich - fluff or chase (impression or 1 toy worth 4SB) (+ or -)
Aardwolf - attack (get a toy) (-)
Dikdik - attack (actually get a carcass) (-)
Okapi - attack (actually get a carcass) (-)
Monkey - roll (get 5 energy) (+)
Mongoose - back off (get impr. no loss of energy) (+)
Secretary bird - stalk (get more SB than the feather is worth) (+/-)
Pangolin - follow (get energy) (+)
Donkey Foal - kill (actually get a carcass) (-)
Dromedary camel - wipe off (get SB) (+)
Fennec Fox - approach (get SB) (+/-)

More times it pays off to choose the bad karma choice. many times if you choose the good karma choice, it gives you nothing at all, only karma. Not that profitable in my eyes.

The events were also heavily unbalanced:
Albino Zebra - Roar (you get a carcass with 22SB worth) (-)
Elder Lion - Fight (possibility for more impression, plus exp and SB) (+/-)
Albino hyena - Trash/growl (impression or fight, more than 50 exp ._.)(I think both were '-' because I lost karma like no tomorrow in my choices) (-)
Albino crow - swat or play (get a toy worth SB) (+/-)

So all in all, the staff should balance out the choices so they are worth the same...

I noticed the same discrepancy, Axel. I assumed it was intentional to try and preserve the natural tone to the game since a lion who is opportunistic ('evil') will get farther in life than a lion who isn't.

It'd be nice if they were equal for the sake of gameplay though. XD

Also, lots of Poacher encounters. It seems that generally you want to be very, very aggressive and fight them to earn RB and Prevention points.

I got the orphaned cheetah cub and did the roar option, and chased it into a crocodile infested river. :( got +50 EXP though

I ran into an orphaned hyena pup in the Shrublands at night during the rainy season, showed mercy to it and gained 1% impression. Not sure if it changed my karma?

Fray -- You rush at the humans, scaring them away from your territory. (+1 RB, +1 PP)

OR

Scare --
Charge --You start running towards the enemy, tackling the humans and tearing them apart with your bare claws. (+2 RB, +1 PP)
Approach --

Or

Diversion -- Seeing humans approach your pride, you decide to take control and lure them off with roars and clever distractions towards another area. (+2 RB, +1% Impression Progress, -10% Energy)
Roar --
Scare --

A tiny, shivering caracal cub is in front of you, scared to death and orphaned due to poaching.

Approach --
Shake Mane -- You shake your mane with a manly roar, trying to show the cub to stop crying and man up. Times are tough, but he needs to carry on!
You gained +1% impression.

Snarl -- You growl at the cub, catching its attention. It seems to crawl closer and curls up on top of your paws, seeking warmth. You let it rest in the safe presence of your powerful claws, protecting it for the rest of the day, until you both part ways.
You gained +2% impression.

Sorry, not sure on karma gain or loss as I don't keep a close eye on it.

This orphaned cheetah cub is sitting helplessly in shock from losing its parents to poachers.

-> Kill : You decide to quickly kill the cub. It wouldn't survive all by itself - better to spare it death from starvation. =1 cheetah skull, Karma no change

-> Roar : You let out a warning roar. After all, a cheetah is a cheetah and eats your food - they can outrun you anyway! This one, however, seems unable to master that skill and trips over an eroding ledge. It falls into a crocodile infested mudbank with a splat. At least now you know where not to walk.. You gained +50 EXP! Karma?

Scrap --The humans send their barking dogs run towards you, but you're not phased. You viciously slash the animals and send them running with their tails between their legs. (+1 RB, +1 PP, +1% Impression Progress)

You notice a camouflaged truck covered with some worn canvas. You smell meat inside - humans must hide their poached kills in there.

Charge -- With a roar that makes bones shiver, you charge at the truck, mauling any human that comes in your way. They take out their sharp weapons and try to stop you, but those are their last decisions in their abruptly ended lifes. (+2 RB, +3 PP) + Rhino carcass and rhino skull
