If you are planning on purchasing or using a Beetle Skin Maker and/or Custom Decor Creation item, you must read these rules to avoid having your submission rejected.

The following is a transcript of what you will see when choosing to use a Custom Decor Creation item and includes our up-to-date rules regarding custom decor submissions.

"Create a Custom Decor!" Page

You can create a custom decor here! Creating a custom decor will use up the item and the decor will go into an approval queue, where it will remain pending until it is approved or rejected. If approved, you will receive 3 copies of your decor. If rejected, you will receive a replacement custom decor item.

You can create decors for whatever ages and genders you want. If you want to create a decor just for females (both adolescents and adults), you could select it as an "Age Specific Decoration" and just input the URLs for the female adult and female adolescent. If your decor is universal and doesn't need to be restricted to different ages/genders (for example, a bird flying in the sky), you can just set the decor as a "Universal Decoration". You will be able to add additional versions (for different genders) afterwards, but not if the decor is a Universal Decoration, and you may not upload extra mane versions if the decor is not set to be an "Age & Mane Specific Decoration".

Types of Decorations

Universal Decorations
These decorations only require one image, which can be applied universally to each base. You just fill out the "cub" image version and can leave the rest blank.

Age Specific Decorations
These decorations require one image per age and gender, not including different manes on adult males. For adult males, only fill out the "male normal" image version, and leave the rest of the manes blank.

Age & Mane Specific Decorations
The same as above, except with different mane images.

Rules

Decor Content

  1. No copyright or trademarked characters (ex. Spiderman, Pikachu, Digimon, Scooby Doo, etc).
  2. No bases, fur designs, or markings, unless they can pass as actual decors. Acceptable examples would be: body paint or tattoos instead of markings; fur extensions with extras such as expressions, ornaments, and scars; bases with body morphs (like the "Wraith" decor), galactic swirls, etc.
  3. No pornographic, sexual, or gory images. The level of gore will be judged by the staff on a case-by-case basis, as Lioden allows some gore by default.
  4. Custom decorations which are already provided by the game in some way will not be accepted. For example: backgrounds, manes for males, realistic markings, recolours of our assets, such as decors, or recolours of lion assets such as skin, claws, etc.
    • We do allow some eye Custom Decors, as we appreciate the expression changes in them, however, they must be drawn by you from scratch, and not just be a game asset recolour.
  5. Memes are not permitted, but we will accept humorous images.
  6. There is a limit of 20 recolors per one item design. For example, there is a custom decor called "Majestic Shawl - White", and it's very popular, so you decide to create a few recolours for it. We're happy to allow your recolors, so long as they do not exceed 20. If you wish to create more, they will have to be for a completely new, different shawl in the future.
  7. All submissions must abide by the Terms and Conditions of the site.

Art Style & Quality

  1. The following styles of art for Custom Decors are not allowed:
    • Photographs or photomanipulations, including photos that you took yourself, or free-use photos.
    • 3D images.
  2. We do not expect all submissions to be sterling art quality but we request that users refrain from submitting MS-Paint or pixeled images, or from submitting art that generally does not fit the quality expected on Lioden. We ask that users try to match Lioden's art style by adding shading and fine lineart.
    • Pixelated effect and sharpness is a big issue - often not visible on tablet devices, so we advise making sure the art is soft enough when compared to the lions - we do allow about 5-10% of some pixelation issues in the artwork, due to technical limitations.

Art Ownership

  1. You must have ownership or explicit permission to use the art that you submit to Lioden's Custom Decor system.
  2. Custom Decor art must be drawn either by yourself or by someone on Lioden. Any art made by somebody outside of Lioden will be rejected.
    • If the art was made by somebody who gave you permission to use it, add their ID number in the artist field.
  3. Tracing over photos or art that you didn't make doesn't make it your art and isn't okay. We consider this to be copyright infringement and if your Custom Decor is reported and confirmed to be a trace, we will take action.
  4. Reusing Lioden's existing decor files to create custom decors is not allowed. Your art must be uniquely drawn, even if it's mimicking existing decors for mutations (for example, "Opal Jewelry for Dwarves"). Note: drawing your own official Lioden decor versions for mutations is fine!
  5. You may use Lioden's bases and lineart to create your own custom decor art, such as body paint (i.e. clipping lineart layers to preserve shading continuity), but you still need to create designs that are unique enough so that our assets are not the main part of the decor.
    • We have noticed that sometimes you mark Xylax (#4) as the artist if you're making a pattern using Lioden's assets - this is not needed! We know. :D
  6. Regarding AI: We do not accept AI-generated submissions. If we suspect AI tools have been used to create a submission, it will be rejected and we will expect a detailed WIP example with stages of your artwork to prove otherwise.

Common Questions

  • Why are there no mutations in the dropdown?
You need to state in the title or description the decor is for a mutation - due to our current system, each Custom Decor has to be made separately for either default lions or each of the mutations.
  • Can I make a Piebald or Patches?
For default lions - no. This is supplied by the game as an asset / secondary mutation. We can accept faux (fake) piebalds for mutations though, like a Tigon or Primal. They need to closely resemble ours, ie. piebalds should have pink skins and a gentle yellow/pink hue, otherwise they might look too much like markings.
  • Are scars allowed?
Starting in 2023, we now allow standalone scars for Custom Decors.
  • Why was my CD rejected? A similar one was accepted!
Custom Decors rules changed during the last 10 years. We cannot undo accepting something that we wouldn't now. Or sometimes, players cannot see technical issues due to device screens - ie. iPad blurs images a bit, and you might not see that your decor has pixelated edges visible on other screens. Try to not compare your CD's to others and rely on the feedback provided by the staff handling your CD ticket.
  • Can I add fake manes?
Since we have added faux (fake) female manes decors as official items, we can accept similar concepts - but only for females, cub/teens or some full body mutations like Leopon, etc. To avoid confusion, adult male versions are not allowed.

The following is a transcript of what you will see when choosing to use a Beetle Skin Maker item and includes our up-to-date rules regarding custom beetle skin submissions.

"Create a Custom Beetle Skin!" Page

You can create a custom beetle skin here! Creating a beetle skin will use up the item and the decor will go into an approval queue, where it will remain pending until it is approved or rejected. If approved, you will receive 5 copies of your skin. If rejected, you will receive a replacement beetle skin creation item.

All beetle skins must have an item image, larva image, male image and female image. The direction of all skins should be facing left. The size for beetle skins are 300x300, with item images being 100x100 respectively.

Rules

- No photographs or photomanipulations are to be used, including photos that you took yourself, or free-use photos.
- No 3D images
- No copyright or trademarked characters (ex. Spiderman, Pikachu, Digimon, Scooby Doo, etc)

We ask that users try to match Lioden's art style by adding shading and fine lineart.
- For skins we're allowing more freedom in terms of art style, but to a degree of common sense.
- Do not use art that does not belong to you or wasn't drawn by you.
- If the art was made by somebody who gave you permission to use it, write in the item's description giving them credit. Example: Lovely Laughing Hyena! (Art by: #145023219)
- Skin art must be drawn either by yourself or by someone on Lioden. Any art made by somebody outside of Lioden will be rejected.
- Tracing over photos that you didn't take doesn't make it your art and isn't okay.
- No pornographic, sexual, or gory images.
- Memes are not permitted, but we will accept humorous images.
- All submissions must abide by the Terms and Conditions of the site.

is it considered stealing to use an existing decor (ethereal vision) and re-draw it so that it's avaliable to conjoined cubs? or does that count as recoloring?

I want to make decorations using apps on my phone. Which one is best to use to avoid pixels? And what should I do if the file with the age does not load normally and I cannot open it (in the form of a link

@Thomas Ridgewell

Hi there! I've been using ibis paint and so far, it seems to be great for commissions. Make sure to use the right sized canvas (640x500) though, or else when you resize it, it'll get SUPER blurry...
I'm not quite sure what you mean by load normally, but if the age/pose doesn't look how I want it to, I readjust it in ibis paint and send it back over and over until it looks right. It can take some time to get it right though pfft
Oh and what do you mean if you aren't able to open it?

I can't download a document with poses and mutations, so I can't draw

Ohhh, I just take screenshots, crop it, and then use "import picture" on ibis paint! It's a little more complicated, but it works since I also can't download the poses
