Hundreds of years ago, werewolves were hunted to near extinction by their supernatural enemies and humans alike. What were once large, powerful packs that ruled over vast pieces of land dwindled to small groups and terrified, migrating pairs. Vampires, intent on killing off the last of their werewolf enemies, continued to hunt them until the remaining wolves went into deep hiding and everyone thought them to be extinct.

That was in 1923.

Since then, the vampires themselves have disappeared, leaving the humans to rekindle their own populations and forget about mythical creatures in their entirety. In 2004, however, werewolves began to resurface. Surviving members of the legendary packs started to recruit members and rebuild their packs’ territories. One such pack, located in the small town of Kinsey Falls, has already reclaimed their territory and regained enough members that they are actively sought out by wolves and the occasional human seeking an Alpha’s Bite.

The returning era of peace is very short-lived.

Early in 2015, pack members from Kinsey Falls began to go missing. Fearing it to be vampires, the pack increased surveillance and started to gather frequently in the pack house instead of sleeping in their separate apartments and homes. What the wolves don’t know is that the creatures coming after them are not vampires; they are Kitsunes.

Bestiary
– aka what you can be and everything you need to know about them

Humans
Well, humans are humans, so I’m not going to bother explaining them. In this case, you are an average human being. You may or may not know of the supernatural world, though more often than not, you won’t. So don’t have every human intent on getting bitten.

Kitsune
-Kitsune are a species of Animal Spirit, and are also known as Foxes. Described as Tricksters, they have no care for the concept of right or wrong; often they manifest as spirits and possess an innocent being, giving their host demonic features and powers. In their younger years, Kitsune naturally possess an aura in the shape of a flaming fox (this aura is initially only visible to beings with supernatural vision or on a developed image using flash photography). When the Kitsune becomes more powerful, their aura becomes naturally visible during battle or during loss of control. Kitsune are known for an innate bloodlust, and for their need of freedom (from emotional and physical restraints).

As foxes, Kitsune naturally do not get along with werewolves. While the packs are more direct and follow codes of loyalty and honor, Kitsune rely on their cunning to survive, and operate mostly on their own rules.

Kitsune are known to have enhanced strength, speed, and super coordination. Efficient masters in combat, they are able to exert greater strength, run faster, jump higher, and react quicker than what should be humanely possible. They can also heal and repair cells faster than a regular human. Naturally crafty, a Kitsune is able to easily learn how to use any weapons or tools they can get their hands on.

Kitsune can wield, use and perform a unique form of magic. This is called FoxFire, their signature talent. Using FoxFire, Kitsune can conduct rituals, perform functional magic etc, according to their will, and so they are sufficient magic users. The FoxFire of a Kitsune corresponds to what variety of Kitsune he/she is. Foxfire of a single Kitsune can also affect other types. (i.e a Thunder Kitsune weilds Thunder FoxFire; the Kitsune is naturally immune to electricity, and can absorb, dispel, and manipulate this form of energy in whatever manner she likes). The FoxFire of a kitsune is suited to its hunger and cause for chaos and pain.

Werewolf
-Alpha
The Alphas are the leaders of the pack, the ones who make the final decisions and have the responsibility to care for the entire pack.

There are three ways to become the Alpha of a pack: (1) kill an existing Alpha, thus stealing the power, (2) be a True Alpha, where it’s pre-existing in your bloodline, or (3) inherit the position in a Pack by a defined line of succession, as through father to son or mother to daughter.

Alpha wolves are able to create new werewolves through the Bite, which forms a short bond between said wolves that they can choose to act on (by becoming packmates) or cut off. An Alpha’s eyes glow red when transformed, and occasionally when human. Alpha’s are also known for their roar; a supernatural weapon that demonstrates their power and status over their pack. Using their Roar, an Alpha can energize, weaken or restrain other canine-werecreatures.

Alpha wolves also have a superior healing capability to others’ in that they can heal someone other than themselves. Power is transferred through touch, and the Alpha is often left weak in the aftermath, depending on the amount of power given. Alpha wolves carry an internal spark of power that supplements not only the power of the pack but their ability to shapeshift, making it easier for them to shift into more powerful shapes. Not only are they more powerful than the average werewolf, but they also have the power to completely shift into a wolf.

-Beta
Betas are the trusted, more powerful pack members under the Alpha Pair, though they don’t have as many powers when compared with an Alpha. Betas share their power with the leaders and the rest of the pack to become more skillful and mature as wolves.

Betas can be born to Alpha parents, or they could have been humans who received an Alpha’s Bite and became their Alpha’s second-hands. Betas commonly manifest their werewolf side through physical transformation such as claws, fangs, and an occasional shift in the bone structure of their face and/or legs. Their eyes glow either blue or gold when shifting. Like Alphas, they are able to transform their bodies into a full wolf if they gain enough power and experience.

-Medic
A Medic is a Beta wolf that has more experience with herbs (those poisonous to werewolves and those not) and werewolf healing. They might know how to rebreak bones that are healing incorrectly or how to correctly suture a nasty wound so the scar that it leaves won’t be as noticeable. They are normally patient, kind wolves and enjoy acting as nurses; although it is less common, Medics will occasionally gain enough power to transform completely.

-Subordinate
Subordinate wolves are the average members of the pack. They might have problems with their transformations or they might be generally weaker, so they’re in a lower position. These wolves are thought of as those in need of more training and assistance within the pack, so the rank is not normally a bad thing. These wolves may not have control of their shifts or instincts (newly bitten wolves often don’t). Their eyes may glow blue or gold like the Betas, but they won’t be able to shift into the full wolf form. They may show off longer fangs and claws, and an angrier/more powerful subordinate may show changes in their bone alignments.

-Omega
Omega wolves are at the bottom of the werewolf hierarchy. These wolves will more often than not have no position in a pack or affiliation with an Alpha at all. However, within a pack, they are often a little unstable with their power and/or not entirely trusted because they’ve been recently accepted to the pack. Sometimes their behavior is too uncontrollable or animalistic; they cannot shift completely either though they can still grow fangs and claws. These wolves are accepted within the pack but are not accepted to be Subordinates or Betas in the eyes of the Alpha because of their past/choices/etc.

Rules

1. Lioden rules apply.
2. No god modding, power playing, etc.
3. This is a semi-literate to intermediate roleplay; proper grammar and spelling is a must. You must post at least a paragraph (five sentences).
4. Fade to black when necessary.
5. Kinsey Falls is the only pack you will be joining. All other packs are mentioned as allies/enemies/etc. You can join a pack or be a lone wolf (if werewolf).
6. Ask before killing or fatally wounding another character.
7. When fighting, you will not land every blow or dodge ever hit. Give people a chance to react to what is happening and keep it fair.
8. Let myself or my Moderator(s) know if you’ll be inactive. As long as we know you’re taking an absence, your characters won’t be removed from the RP and we’ll work around it.
9. Swearing is allowed, but don’t overdo it.
10. Put ‘Yes Alpha’ in other if you’ve read the rules.
11. Your own characters cannot be romantically involved.
12. This is a realistic fantasy RP; if you have questions on what is allowed and you can’t find any answer in our Bestiary then please ask us.
13. Give everyone a chance to reply. Try to allow 3+ people to respond before posting again.
14. Keep all OOC talk in the chat thread.
15. Hate the character, not the player.
16. If you’re going to initiate any major problems/plot points/fights/etc., please ask first.
