Jax // Male // 3 years // GSDXDoberman // Darkblood member
Mentions: North, Checkers, Alaska

Jax fixed Checkers with a cold stare, though remained surprisingly calm. "As you see it then, I was merely suggesting, as it sometimes helps you." He did keep himself in between the Tamaskan and the Husky, however, as he wasn't sure how 'out of it' that Checkers currently was.

When North snapped at them both, Jax straightened up from the slight hunch he'd had while speaking with Alaska. Headquarters was large place, and in Jax's mind it would make more sense to truly split up, but this was Checkers, nd he'd likely just kill everything in sight without Jax around to keep him from killing potentially useful members. "Yes Alpha." He smirked slightly at the dogs scattering away from their little group with a spark of satisfaction. Truly their little pack was getting a reputation... He turned to Checkers and pointed his nose forwards. "Lead the way, I'll follow you, you've always had a better nose for trouble anyways." Jax's words almost sounded like he was joking around with Checkers, though it would possibly go right over the dog's head, or be taken as sarcasm.

Loon | Male | 4 Years | Great Dane | Loner
Location: Softcall Forest
Mentions: Vera

The taste of mashed up marigold petals and leaves wasn't the most pleasant, but it wasn't as bad as shit. Loon hadn't personally tasted it, but he had shoved dogs' faces into huge, steaming piles of it before. That was always great fun. “Wouldn't know,” he mumbled around the specks of flower still stuck to his tongue. “Never tasted it.”

Oh, don't worry, child, he thought at her words. Many refuse to do favors in the beginning… but they come to realize they need me, and then they do as I please. Loon was full of false grandeur, the illusion of thinking himself high on a royal pedestal choosing to walk among the filth to give them the gift of him. Very few actually viewed him the same way, though one day he planned on raising a pup for the sole purpose of worshiping the very particles of dirt he trod on.

“It was no problem, Miss,” he said, dipping his head to her quickly before reeling it back up and having to bend his neck to gaze down at her. Her next question was a bit of a surprise. This fluffy mutt was part of the Darkbloods? How interesting. But Loon had a bit of a habit of lying, one he couldn't seem to break, though he never tried in the first place.

“No, I can't say I have. New in town, you see.” He had been there a month, and simply had stayed out of the way of the Darkbloods, not wanting to deal with them. Seemed he had accidentally stumbled on to one anyway. “Tell me about them,” he requested, making it clear in his voice that she didn't have to if she didn't want to. But most pack dogs loved talking about themselves and their packs. He doubted she was any different.

Vera | Female | 2 Years Old | Yakutian Laika
-
Location: Softcall Forest | Mentions: Loon, North

Vera snorted at his response, feeling comfortable enough around the strange dog to assume a more relaxed position. It took considerable strain off her leg and she sighed in relief. Part of her mind reminded her she barely knew Loon and should be wary, but the young female had never been shown even a tiny ounce of kindness in her life. Not from her birth pack or the new one. She still couldn't imagine way the Dane would want to help her, and if she'd been able to figure it out then it might have angered her enough to try leaping for his throat. For now however, she was clueless. "I didn't expect you had. Never know around this place though." It felt good. To be cared for even a little bit.

As Loon asked her to tell him about the Darkbloods she suddenly hesitated again. For some reason it was really hitting her now how little she meant to them in the scheme of things. None of them had come looking for her. Not a single one. Not even the healer. Her ears folded back against her head. She loved North. He was her everything... 'You mean nothing to him. You never have. You never will,' A small voice whispered in the back of her head and she bristled in denial, even if part of her knew it was true. If he had seen her as even a little bit irreplaceable he would have sought her out. He did not.

Her expression darkened and she laid her head down between her front paws. Packs were supposed to be a family, or so she heard. Had she ever been anything to anyone other than a machine to fight and hunt for them? "They aren't worth talking about," she finally grunted out. Her mind might yet change, but she couldn't help the fresh wave of bitterness washing over her. If they didn't care about her why should she give a damn about them? She was better than this. Better than them, and one day she'd show them that. North especially. 'You haven't seen the last of me, and when you do, you'll be sorry.'

|Checkers|Male|Tamaskan Dog|4 Years old|Darkblood|
Location: Headquarters | Mentions: Jax, East

He knew Jax thought he would attack Alaska. Sure, he wanted to, and he kept mumbling something incoherent under his breath, but that was besides the point. He wouldn't do it simply because North wouldn't be pleased. Checkers didn't really care about that, he just wanted to get on the dog's good side. Even in his dark, crazy state, he still had enough common sense to think at least some things through, and that was exactly what he was doing.

Checkers snorted, turning away. 'You've always had a better nose for trouble anyways', Checkers thought nastily, his lip curling. What, was Jax just being a smartass, or was he attempting to buddy up with Checkers? Because either way, he was an imbecilic fool. "If we find anyone, let me handle them. Alright?" he said, more as a command than a suggestion. He didn't know why he bothered saying it, since Jax wouldn't give him free reign to do what he pleased.

He walked away from North and Alaska, not bothering to check if Jax was following. Jax wouldn't dare leave him alone, and that thought made Checkers giggle quietly to himself. His sadistic mood was slowly shifting to a more playful one, and if nothing set him off, he would be like a completely different dog in just ten minutes. It was how his shifts work; they tended to work suddenly unless they were interrupted, and they mostly came without warning.

Checkers prowled about, his nose always at work and his eyes constantly roving the dark corners. Who knew if a dog was lying in wait? It had happened before, and Checkers wasn't going to be made a fool of again. Especially in front of company. There wasn't much wind inside, but he was still able to smell the dust and decay of a building no longer in its prime. It was a scent that didn't bother Checkers, as he had known it for too long to care. But then his nose caught something else, something that was assuredly dog. He flicked his tail at Jax to catch the other dog's attention, his eyes dark and alert. He said nothing, as he didn't want to draw attention quite yet. There was no saying how many dogs were here, and though Checkers wanted to, he wasn't just going to barge in, teeth blazing. He slowly walked down the corridor, walking past some kind of weird contraption without pause, his eyes locking on a room up ahead. That was where the scent was coming from. And there may even be more than one, but he wasn't too sure.

|Krash|Male|3 years|Tibetian Mastiff X Ovcharka|Location: Streets|Mentions: Vulcan|
The Tibetian Mastiff snorted and shook his head as he stretched out. This runt shouldn’t have lasted this long, not with how small he was and with that twisted useless leg. But since he did seem to have made it this far it meant the pup had fighting spirit, and was at least smart. ”Sending you back out in this weather is suicide for you and makes me a murderer. And while I got no problem killing off those more towards my size, I’m not up for killin’ pups.” Krash grumbled out and shook more water from his fur before standing up and digging his nails into the side walk, turning to move back into the broken store front before humming and looking over his shoulders. ”Come on. You can stay in here till this mess clears up then we’ll decide what to do with you.”

|Nambia|Female|2 years|Dalmatian|Location: Headquarters|Mentions: East, Roman and Kade (Indirectly)|

Hearing the word ‘mute’ made the Dalmatian’s ears flicker back sadly, no longer minding the other two dogs that seemed to have moved on to somewhere else in this building most likely. Nodding carefully while settling back onto her haunches she let her tail continue to thump happily against the floor as she brought her cheerful demeanor back. Nambia set the rabbit between her thin paws and tried to sit up straighter. It was so very nice to see another dog that didn’t immediately attack her, and this one even managed to figure out her name where as others would stare at her like she was stupid. But it seemed like this female was a little willing to work with her disability in some way or another and it pleased her greatly. Nambia kept her ears twitching and twisting as she listened to the dripping of the water that seeped into the room from the rain, alert just encase those dogs came back with friends to attack them but picked up on nothing yet.

Loon “Matthew” | Male | 4 Years | Great Dane | Loner
Location: Softcall Forest
Mentions: Vera, North

Loon took in her stance, how she seemed to soften her muscles and allows the tension in them to ease enough to calm her agitated leg. Good. It wouldn't help him any if she injured that leg farther, and if her demeanor meant anything, she didn't want to hurt it any more than she had to. Though, come to think of it, their encounter had been peculiar enough that they hadn't introduced themselves. That simply wouldn't do, and he'd be sure to tell his name when he got the chance.

In reality, he knew who the Darkbloods were. A band of dogs that called themselves a pack, but really, would a pack have left a member out to die? Even as a psychopath, Loon would have gone searching for this dog, if for no other reason than to make sure she could go on worshiping the ground he walked on, as he hoped to get her to do one day. But first he needed to break her from the spell of the Darkblood's leader, North. His gaze traveled over her face and noticed something dark behind her eyes. It reminded him of doubt, something he had caused in many dogs himself, and the hairs on her neck stood as the darkness passed through. It may not be as hard as he thought to break her from North's clutches. He remained silent, though, allowing her own mind work against her, no doubt revealing to her how little her “pack” actually cared about her. She was out in the middle of the woods talking to some feral dog when she should be getting treated for her wound by their healer, after all.

“Well, then, miss,” he said, “let's talk about you instead. Forget about the pack for now.” A sharp wind cut through the trees and chilled him, but more than that, he noticed the debris it was kicking up. Glancing at her leg, he barked, “You should get back inside that den of yours, miss. Ol' Matthew will lay outside and keep the wind from getting to you.” The things I do to create loyal followers, he thought.

East | Female | 4 Years, 5 Months | Beauceron | Loner
Location: Headquarters
Mentions: Nambia, North

The Beauceron's ears went back, flattening against her skull at the pure look of sadness in Nambia's eyes. All other things forgotten, she moved forward and licked the Dalmatian's cheek, then, noticing that the other had continued to thump her tail against the hard floor. Bouncing back, she lowered herself into a play bow and let her tongue loll out of the side of her mouth.

“Let's play!” she yipped. “My brother North used to play tag with me. Wanna play tag?” The chewed nub that was her tail wiggled in joy at the thought of jumping around trying to avoid being tagged. It was a pleasant memory, too; North had been the stronger of the two, but she was faster. Still, she often made dumb mistakes just to let him catch up and boop that cold, wet nose of his into her side, making her squeal in delight as he took off in the other direction. If only he were there now, perhaps she could convince him to play with her and her new friend.

Vera | Female | 2 Years Old | Yakutian Laika
-
Location: Softcall Forest | Mentions: Loon, North

Vera shivered as the wind picked up, spraying them both with snow and potentially rubbish. Her nose wrinkled a bit at the thought of being buried in trash and frozen water. Loon's voice interrupted her odd thoughts, urging her to return to her den. "Matthew huh? That's the weirdest name I've ever heard," she snorted before rising to her paws again. "Forget it Matthew. I'm not gonna curl up like some spoiled pup while you freeze your ass off out here. We'll find somewhere else you can fit yourself in too."

She took an experimental step forward and found her other three legs were doing a good enough job keeping her upright. Limping onward she sought out some other form of shelter. Something that would offer the spotted Dane some protection from the worsening weather as well. Loon's false kindness had already warmed the young female to him enough to want to keep him around for the foreseeable future. She had expected Loon to push her for more information about the Darkbloods. Instead he had asked about her. No one ever asked about her!

North came to mind again, her brain nagging her about showing such disrespect for her leader. How could she say he wasn't worth talking about? He was amazing. 'He doesn't care about you...' The voice in her head reminded her and instead of making her angry this time it just made her heart sink. Vera's head lowered a bit as blue eyes continuing searching the landscape for suitable a den. "Focus on finding shelter girl. You can think about him later," she mumbled to herself, likely still loud enough for Loon to hear.
