Al'Asad Alnnamr may not understand many, if any, words yet but he knew one very important thing. Whilst his mother was the source of all things good, Al knew his big brother was who he wanted to be. He wanted to be just like his big brother. He wanted to grow big, strong, and awesome like his brother was. His brother was Al's very own version of Apedemak, and Al could not wait until he grew up.

For now though his understanding was thus: 'Big best.'

His big brother was the best. Now, if only he could keep up with his big brother! Unfortunately he was small, covered in fluff, and still needed his mother's milk. Due to this he couldn't go very far away, that is in the rare occassion he had a second being unwatched, which meant he couldn't usually follow his big brother when he went to do big brother... things. Still, Al tried his best and often got a lot of bumps and bruises. He also got lost. A lot. Oh, and stuck. He tried his best to forget his 'oppsie' moments.

Right now Al was trying to roar like his brother but all that came out were embarassing squeaks. It didn't help it was bath time and he was wriggling in an eager attempt to escape and try to find his big brother. It was morning as far as Al was concerned and that meant it was play time. All he wanted to do was find the sleep den and wake up his brother. It didn't even pass his mind that he didn't know where the sleep den was because his mum always carried him there and a lot of the time he was half asleep or completely asleep.

He only cared about one thing... 'Big best'.

"Wow..." Afzal's voice was full of wonder as he listened, it was amazing what he was hearing, so much so that he hadn't noticed anything around him.

"Come on Afzal...it's about time Al had something to eat." Ezekiel piped up, his own stomach slightly grumbling as he had missed the morning hunt. He looked around with a smile, though it very quickly turned when he noticed that Al wasn't there. "Al?!"

"Wh-" Afzal looked around, suddenly standing up and hurriedly looking around, his deep yellow eyes wide in sudden fear. "Oh no!"

"We have to find him, quickly!"

Maahes declared suddenly, jumping up onto all four paws. His pride was just as dark as he was but without the bond between him and other prides. If they saw a cub not their own in their territory there was a good chance they'd kill the cub without a second thought, labelling it as a tresspasser and possible spy.

"You two may enter my territory but if you know whats wise you won't go too far away from me. My pride will not be welcoming to any they view as a tresspasser."

He warned before turning and pushing himself through the jungle. He hoped the little tyke hadn't gotten far and had hopefully stuck on a straight path but he knew luck probably wouldn't be with him.

Al meanwhile was still bored and just getting lost. It wasn't fun at all without Bi. He wanted Bi. He was hungry, lost, and sad. Unable to keep going he plopped down onto his bottom, opened his mouth and let out sad, squeaky cries.

"I wan Bi!"

He wailed.

Ezekiel jumped up just as fast as Maahes, being quick and hot on his tail as he pushed through the unusual scenery; Afzal trailing behind but still managing to keep up with them, finding out in the process that he was amazingly agile, leaping over obstacles and ending up beside Maahes, just in front of Ezekiel.

"We need to hurry!" Ezekiel gasped, although he was the king...Lesedi was incredibly respected in the pride, and she was merciless when it came to the safety of her children.

Luipeu, blending seemingly into the thick jungle thanks to her spotted coat inherited from her leopard father, heard the cries almost as soon as they started. With a lick of her lips the leoponess stalked through the shadowy depths with her adolescent leopon offspring following her. The sight of a little lion cub, all fluffy and alone, trepassing on her pride's territory was an easy hunt. With no mother or guardian it couldn't put up much of a fight or run very far or fast. It would make an easy snack and a just as easy hunt. Perfect for her daughter to practice on.

"Go ahead Italie."

She whispered, flicking her ears and eyes towards her daughter before focusing once again on the cub as she crouched in the shadows. Italie stalked forward, spurred on by her mother's faith and encouragement, to take part in her very first hunt.

Al, meanwhile, was oblivious to his would-be-killers. He kept crying, calling out for 'Bi', and stayed sat in one place. Mum had always said if he got lost to stay in the same place and just call out. Eventually someone would find him. Unfortunately it seemed he'd been found by two deadly leoponesses rather then his family.

Maahes kept scanning the jungle around him with his senses trying to pick up the slightest noise. It seemed Al must have wandered quite far into his territory as he couldn't hear, see, or smell anything yet. He just hoped either himself, Ezekiel or Afzal reached Al before anything bad could happen to him.

Afzal's heart was terror-filled as he ran through the jungle, he was amazed at his agility and ability to blend in with the foliage, and he raced through trying to find his younger brother before it was too late.

Ezekiel was hot on Maahes' heels, he was unsure of what he was more scared about...what lay ahead or Lesedi's wrath later on; he just knew that if they didn't find Al soon, he would be saying goodbye to something that meant a lot to him...though he didn't quite know what that something would be.

Just as Italie pounced, letting out a terrifying snarl, Maahes managed to be close enough to hear a faint whisper of the sound. On a dime Maahes spun, kicking up dust and leaves in his wake as he leapt to the right straight through an assortment of bushes.

Al's head shot round, eyes wide as he look in the sight of a fierce leoponess sailing towards him with her teeth and claws bared. He whimpered in fright, leaping forward so that he ran underneath her belly as her front paws landed exactly where he had been sat previously. Al ran a few feet only to skid to a stop as a larger leopon rose up to stand tall, growling lowly at him as she flexed her own muscles.

He didn't know what to do. There was a big, scary meanie behind him and another bigger, scarier meanie infront of him.

"BI!"

Al wailed as the two females stalked around him in a predatory circle, smirking at the cub's helplessness.

Meanwhile Maahes was doing his best to get through his territory as quickly as possible. Unfortunately with his age he was a lot slower then he used to be and he feared he was going to get to the cub far too late to help.

"Don't touch the cub!"

He yelled as loud as his husky timbre would allow but he couldn't be sure if his pride could hear him.

Ezekiel gasped as he watched the two speed in front of him; he was fast, but he wasn't used to avoiding obstacles. He pushed himself, though he knew it was useless, he just hoped that they would reach him soon.

Afzal darted through the bushes, just after Maahes in an attempt to reach his younger brother; he was using muscles that he never really thought he had, and he pushed them- it probably wasn't healthy for him but...he had to, he had no choice. He heard the wails from afar, he always had good hearing...and in this territory, it was a gift worth having.

"AL!"

"BI!"

Al yelped in response to his brother's call just as the younger leoponess leapt for him. Italie pressed her front paws down on top of the cub's back, pushing him down into the ground as her mother stalked forwards to stand between her daughter and whichever lion she could hear coming their way. Infact it sounded like there was more then one lion was coming her way.

Finally Maahes ploughed through the bush and came to an exhauted heap on the floor infront of two of his pride members.

"Alpha."

Luipeu and Italie murmurred respectfully, lowering themselves in a show of submission to him. Maahes returned it with a half smile as he sat up as best as he could whilst so tired. He hoped he wouldn't have to run like that ever again. He knew if he did it would probably bring him far closer to the end of his life then he'd prefer.

"The cub is a friend's."

He managed to tell them, looking from their two beautiful faces to the large ball of fluff beneath Italie's golden-hued paws. Reluctantly Italie took her paws off him, allowing Al to scramble up to his four paws and over to Maahes where he buried himself into his thick mane. Unfortunately it wasn't the comfort he wanted. He wanted his Bi. Not only that but he was never going to leave his home ever again. Not after this. He didn't know what those two grown-up girls wanted to do to him but he just knew it would be something not good. The second Al smelt Bi he was off, running as fast as his chubby legs could take him to his big brother.

"BI!"

Afzal hadn't noticed Ezekiel coming to stop to have a rest, and nor did he notice Maahes coming to a stop; thudding straight into the large lion's back and backing up slightly, just in time to see Al.

"Al! Oh my god I was so worried..." He came to a complete stop, just away from Maahes and the two strange...lionesses? Leopards? He didn't overly care, his little brother was safe. He held out his front legs, they ached, everything ached...but he just wanted to hold his little brother and not let go.

"Bi! Bi! I wan go. Go now."

Al cried, rubbing his head into his brother's chest as his little body continued to shake and cry out in fear.

Maahes looked at the cub apologetically. He felt rather bad that he'd broken the boy's innocence indirectly. Still, his pride was known for being merciless. He just hoped that the boy would recover. It would be a shame if the boy's good hearted nature was gone or ruined for good due to this incident.

Meanwhile Luipeu and Italie looked at the two trespassing males with a suspicious and heated glare. The older may be a friend of their Alpha's but both males were not part of their pride and therefore were not trustworthy in any way. Licking her lips Luipeu strode forward with her head held high towards the older lion, looking down on him as if she was superior - which she felt she was.

"You would have thought a lion as old as you would teach their filth-born not to trespass on another's territory. You've taken a valuable hunting lesson from my daughter and I expect you to reimburse her for that."

Luipeu told him, her voice although very pleasant to listen to did not carry words that were just as pleasant.

Afzal held Al close, he was shaking himself...as much as he tried to put on a brave face...he was scared, he almost lost his little brother...he was never gunna let that happen again...never. Even if it killed him.

Ezekiel strode forwards and stood tall; he was a tall lion, he never looked it, but he was; he slouched a lot, giving that he was incredibly laid back. It was thanks to his nature that he didn't fall for the pleasant sound, and he gave a cold stare straight back; his different coloured eyes hard and set as stone.

"You would have thought that someone with a daughter would be somewhat more compassionate to a young cub that had been lost in an unfamiliar territory." His voice hissed, it was out of his nature for sure; it held a certain sass to it, as well as protectiveness. "How would you feel...if your child had gotten lost in a strange place and you couldn't find her?"

Luipeu scoffed, rolling her eyes at the male.

"Unlike your kind of filth, I am a good parent. I've taught my daughter the ways of the world from day one. She will always be under my watchful eye until she's fully grown. Unlike you, I've never lost a single cub under my guardianship. It just goes to show that being good,"

Here she paused to look Zeke over, clearly taking in every muscle and pound of fat before meeting his gaze again,

"is clearly a waste of fur and flesh."

With a smirk she turned, presenting her back to him as she sauntered over to her Alpha before looking back at him over her shoulder.

"Perhaps you should learn from your betters how to do it right."

She told him, making it clear he was definately lacking whilst her Alpha, Maahes, was definately not lacking in any way what-so-ever.

Italie watched her mother curiously, noticing the way her mother seemed to naturally slink around seductively whilst making it look effortless. If she didn't know any better she would have said her mother was purposefully trying to rile up the older male, maybe even flirt with him, but she knew that couldn't be true. Her mother had always taught her to be faithful, and so she would.

"Bi, Bi go?"

Al asked, looking up at his brother with watery eyes as he ignored everything else around him.

"Oh honey," Zeke scoffed as well, looking at the strange...lioness with raised eyebrows. He saw it as a challenge, and he didn't like it all that much. "Perhaps you should learn from your betters...some manners," Anyone could have sworn that another female was talking back to them. "They actually get you somewhere. Being good earns you respect, being a tyrant," The word 'tyrant' came out as an icy hiss. "Just makes you more enemies than you'd even realise. Respect means many allies, a strong bond with others that nothing can break. Betrayal only rears it's ugly head with tyrants."

"Yes...we go..." He picked up Al, wandering over to Maahes and quietly speaking up. "I...I'm gunna take him home...could you show us the way out?"

"Being good clearly results in dead cubs. Whilst being,"

Here Luipeu paused before purring sinfully,

"bad allows all of our offspring to not just survive but thrive. If you had been even a second later then you were you would have come across a dead cub. Crushed. You're getting old, just how long do you think it will be before your pride members realise how ineffective you are? Just how long will it before a rival kicks you out or kills you? I bet even if your heir over there reaches adulthood he will not be prepared to rule his own pride and will thus fail."

With that said and a dismissive snort Afzal's way, Luipeu gave Maahes an affectionate lick on the chin before sauntering over to her daughter.

"Come, lets go see how Kleintjie is coming along in his training."

She said firmly but softly as she rubbed the length of her body against her daughter, scent marking her own offspring just to make it clear that Italie belonged to her.

Maahes couldn't help but watch the fiery leoponesses with pride and desire. If he could he would definitely stay young just for them. So slinky and soft... Letting out a deep, wistful sigh he turned his gaze from the pair to his old friend.

"I do apologise. I hope the little one is okay. If there is anything I can do to help fix this then please let me know."

He told Zeke, his voice and eyes showing just how sincere he was. His gaze shifted to Afzal as the adolescent approached him. The fire-coloured male nodded with a half smile, sad that the visit had gone so wrong.

"Of course I can. Follow me."

Zeke's eyebrows rose as he shot an icy glare at the leoponess, snarling slightly as he spoke. "You treat them as objects. Puppets, you show no compassion, raising heartless, emotionless beings that probably wouldn't even properly mourn your eventual death; no love. Just following orders, they'll become lost without instruction, and oh, and 'thus will fail'." His voice was still a hiss, refusing to give up.

It was only when Maahes spoke up that Zeke snapped out of it.

"It's alright..." He sighed, looking the old male in the eyes. "It'll take a while for him to calm down, but it should be okay..."
