It’s a war that has damaged many.
There is not a soul alive that hasn’t heard of the age old war between Vampires and Werewolves; a blood feud, rivalry, a wrong done to another. We’ve heard tales of it all in stories and movies, televisions and spoken myths and laugh it off with the ease of believing that it’s all fiction. But there is a war going on right under our noses. These beasts of the night and moon are real and lurking just under the surface of our bright, happy, cheery, and naïve lives. They run the undergrounds in the forms of gangs, mafias if you will. They do so with ease and brutal efficiency only seen there, always trying to outdo one and other while fighting too gain ground and territory. The vampires are not the shiny, sparkling people with neat kept nails who live in pent houses or have people flinging themselves to their knees as food. No, that would be a made up image brought about by humans who thought that’s what they would be. Vampires are neat, efficient killers with a taste for blood and violence and often times can be slightly colder than the normal person. Too much sunlight will make them sick, yes, but the scariest thing is that they look exactly like you and me. The werewolves aren’t big slobbering mutts or even excessively impulsive canines that walk on two legs and are often from the ghetto or poor families. Their people with the power to change shape easily from human too canine, walking or running on two legs or four, and are slightly impulsive in either shape. But most of the time, they look like us too…

A kind of war, a feud more like, is raging within Vancour City just under the noses of the humans who live their lives in blissful ignorance. House Praetor and House Valencia; House Moon and House Blood for more laymen-like names. The first is a house made up solely of Lycans, their ruling lands consist of Northern and Eastern Vancour. The second is a mafia group made up of solely vampires, their ruling land is the Southern and Western parts of the city. There has been fighting for years and it has been tearing the two Houses apart day by day as more lives are lost. But most of it has died down now and everything seems to be calming after the last five years of all out fighting. The fighting had ended when Maximillian Praetor and Augustine Valencia had both pasted away. Too many lives have been lost though, the Houses are struggling to stand by themselves after all of this fighting. Now their successors have a lot to deal with as they try to repair the damage that had been done. But there has been a string of deaths along the borders between the groups, a mix of werewolves, vampires, and even humans, that had connections with the Houses, had been killed and had large runes burned into their chests and arms. It hints at the arrival of hunters, probably sent to deal with the fighting that had originally taken place there. Sent to clean everything up and start over. It is now up too these two groups to decide their fates. Roll over and die, split up, or prove too the hunters that the two Houses can easily coexist in peace…

.:Vampire/Werewolf/Hunter Rules:.
• Vampires are able to be out in the sun but not for extended period’s time because it can make them sick. They have to drink at least a cup of blood a week or run the risk of going rampant. They do tend to have slightly paler skin and run colder than a normal human. They cannot speak of holy idols, touch crosses, or step foot onto hollow ground as it can hurt them. Rampant vampires are noticed by their slitted pupils, elongated canine teeth, paler skin, and black sclera, they also tend to sport claws and can act very irrationally. ‘Rampant’ vampires are caused by another biting a human and the process going wrong, consistently killing humans when feeding, or not feeding enough. They have an aversion too silver objects but only if their blessed, they can pick up the end of a car but cannot pick up the entire thing. They rely more on intelligence and speed, being much faster than a hunter or a werewolf.

• Werewolves are more impulsive on full moons and new moons, being territorial and possessive about nearly everything. They do seem more than likely to eat rarer meat and look human besides a higher skin temperature. Their senses are keener and have a sharp mind when human, but as the beast they tend too loose that sharp wit and become so much more animalistic in natural. Though they do retain a human mindset but lose the ability to speak. Werewolves can go rogue, a rogue werewolf will be thinner and often without a pack and its eyes will be bloodshot or a very dark yellow. They are a major danger and will often attack humans, maiming them and sometimes turning them. These guys rely on brute strength and their superior stamina and strength, being much stronger than a vampire or a hunter.

• Hunters are fairly unknown, they work in small close knit groups and are the boogeymen for the monsters. They only show up too take care of problematic clans and have been known to wipe out entire houses in only a few days. They are extremely dangerous, it only takes about three to five too wipe out a vampire or werewolf population from a city if that populace is deemed unstable. It is not unknown for them too form bonds with the werewolves or vampires though, but more often they tend to have a dislike towards the species. They are born from warlocks and can perform small conjuring spells; lights, objects under twenty pounds, food and if powerful enough they can make potions that alter appearances.

Argento Barrett| Male | 23 | Hunter| Human | Location: Inn| Mentions: (Directly) Conner, Artemis / (Indirectly)Both Houses
Argento hadn't even thought about the possibility they might get desperate enough to start turning humans. If that were to happen he wasn't sure how he'd be able to live with himself. It would technically be their fault for making the houses that desperate with their most recent killings. Those killings were necessary though, or at least that's what he had told himself. If they left the houses with their soldiers they'd continue their fighting and catch humans in their crossfire. Soldiers had made up the bulk of their operations so without any they were practically harmless. Besides that is, practically everyone else in their Houses. Both houses operated like a mafia, they were criminals. You could consider any one of their members dangerous.

Something had sat ill with him. One of his fellow hunters had killed a human associated with one of the houses. Weren't they suppose to leave the punishment of human criminals up to the police? Unless of course, the human was interfering with a hunt. He had a hard enough time killing these beasts but a human? There was no way he'd be able to deal with that guilt. Before he could inquire about the circumstances the human was killed under the door had screeched. He looked at Artemis with obvious distrust. What he didn't let show in his expression was his thankfulness for a distraction. "I sent a message out to both of the Houses," he showed her a burner cell. How did he get the numbers to contact them in the first place? From the cellphones of those him and his coworkers had killed. "They're desperate and their numbers are so few they're certain to come." Unless they wished to simply die off.

Deonday Bannister | Male | 21 | House Valencia Soldier | Vampire | Location: Eze's home| Mentions: (Directly) Viktor, Michelle, Ava, Ezekiel / (Indirectly) Grendile
What was Viktor's barking for? He wanted to get in the building as well, didn't he? The bark had sounded awefully aggressive. Fine then. He'd stop banging on the door, though it didn't look like the werewolf was having much luck with the window. For now he stood there staring at the wolf in inquisitive frustration. "Fine then, let's see you come up with a better idea." Maybe a moment after that the werewolf had opened the window. That... did not count. Weren't werewolves suppose to be smarter than vampires when shifted? That was cheating. No, it was the other way around. Still Viktor had been here longer and had more time to come up with a plan. He had maybe a few minutes of planning. Yes, that's why he hadn't come up with the idea, he didn't have enough time to think of it. It took him a moment to realize he was scraping at the porch with his foot. Well, more the porch scuffing his shoe more than anything. He often scraped at the ground when he was thinking. The look of disgust the werewolf gave didn't go unnoticed, he was hypersensitive when it came to negative expressions. After shooting the mutt a glare he forced himself to look away before he ended up initiating anything more than an exchange of dirty looks. There wasn't enough time for that. Any other day he might've unintentionally started a fight (he'd certainly lose) or at least given a nasty comment, but today there was no time.

Oh? Someone else was here. His attention was quickly turned to the women who ran the bookstore, Michelle was it? She must've followed him. This was bad. She definitely wasn't one of the humans they associated with, and from Viktor's expression she wasn't of Praetor either. The lack of panicking on her part had him on edge. Most normal humans would be panicking by now. The human wasn't Valencia nor Praetor which meant she was likely a hunter, right? There was no way he could let her walk off. He'd need to bring her to Ezekiel. This was a decision for someone higher standing than him to make, and the closest person to do that was the boss himself.

Deonday took a step closer to the newcomer. His plan was simply going to be hurling himself at her and dragging her in, but he stopped himself. For a moment he just stood there staring at her. There was no way he could lunge at her if she was a hunter, without dying that is. The other soldiers of their house were dead, many having been more skilled than himself. Heck, most of the soldiers had been better than him. The only reason he was still alive was because he had been recovering from an injury from fighting a soldier from their rival house and failing miserably while hunters were out killing the others. He still missed some of the other soldiers, he'd known some of them since he had joined the house. If he couldn't deal with her himself he'd need to get Ezekiel. The woman didn't have any vehicle to escape in so if she ran they could easily catch up with her, even if she had a head start of a few minutes.

He'd need to get his boss to deal with the issue quickly before she could run too far or, if she was stupid, tried to stay. They couldn't have a hunter knowing where their boss lived. He turned around, opened the door, and rushed into the building at a human speed. This girl might not know what he was yet and he didn't want to give her any obvious signs. Blood? He could smell blood. Was Ava harmed? It didn't sound like it but he followed the source just in case. It's source was in the bathroom. The door was opened so he doubted he'd be invading anyone's privacy by looking in. Well he was about to ask her if she was alright but upon looking in the bathroom it seemed she was indeed unharmed apart from a little needle prick. She had simply filled a bag with blood, likely for Ezekiel. He stared at her in an owlish fashion before moving on. He knew how weird those who had been bitten could be about feeding. Grendile often ate just a few ounces above the bare minimum, he wasn't reckless enough to ever go below or just the bare minimum. When he asked why he only drank so much, he'd go on about how the texture and flavor was odd even after all these years. Well, his friend had used far more complex words than that. His friend also occasionally wasted his time and his body's energy on human food. Now that stuff was odd to him. Why would he want to eat solid, bland, non metallic foods was beyond him. He grew up on blood and fed at a more regular rate than his friend did.

After only a few steps into the living room he felt a sharp pain in his foot and emitted an equally sharp yelp, clutching his foot tightly in his hands. He stepped on a... cross? What was Eze doing just leaving that around? It shouldn't come as a surprise to him, remembering his boss' phase of going around speaking the names of holy figures. Maybe he just wanted to grow a resistance to one of their weaknesses? Now that he looked around there were plenty of insidious holy symbols hung on the walls or simply lying around. A few swears later he tried limping on his foot, "Eze! Would it kill you to keep your crosses off the floor?" It was like he didn't want the others of the house in here. He attempted to use the table to steady himself only to retract his shuddering and what felt like burning hand, belting out another string of profanity and seething some more. There was a golden cross necklace lying on the table that he had missed. No. He wasn't going to continue walking through a damn minefield of holy objects the whole way to wherever his boss was holed up. "I'm not going to play hide and seek Eze! There's a meeting coming up, and there's what I think could be a hunter outside!" He didn't have the patients for this.

Grendile Kyro| Male | 27 | House Valencia Capos | Vampire | Location: Arvia's place| Mentions: (Directly) Arvia / (Indirectly)Ezekiel, Deonday
The relieved expression on his face was quite obvious, it was like some great weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Good, Arvia was sober. At least he had one person he could depend on and share the burden of this decision with. He'd hate to have to decide on what could very well determine the future of their House alone. Their boss certainly hadn't been of any help as of late, preffering to hide in his home when they needed a leader the most. To be fair, he hadn't been their boss for long. Their boss didn't have the experience that the rest of them did. "I've been unable to contact him. I sent Deonday to visit him but unless he can get ahold of him soon, we have no choice but to see to this situation ourselves." Like they had been for most of the situations they had run into since Ezekiel had become boss. Him and Arvia could only act as the backbones of their house for so long. Without a head to guide them and enough soldiers and new bloods to keep them trotting along their House was a metaphorical lame horse that was doomed to fail. They couldn't keep operating the way they were now. They simply didn't have the man power they once did.

Grendile took the closest seat he could find, he needed to sit for a moment after everything they'd been dealing with in the past week. "We have to go to this meeting regardless of what Ezekiel decides to do. If we don't show up these hunters will likely continue to kill us off." He had put in so much research into these hunters only to come out empty handed. The runes that had been on the deads' chest didn't seem to show up in any of the numerous places he had looked. They knew practically nothing of them. If it turned out this meeting was a trap then maybe, "We'll want as many of us there as possible, besides Deonday. He'd probably get us killed." He was far too aggressive to even consider bringing along. What would the hunters think if they arrived with a soldier? Hopefully if it was a trap, then a large number of them might make the hunters think otherwise. Besides, even if one of them stayed and it turned out to be a trap, there wouldn't be much left to watch over. They had little left to lose.

[ Viktor Kovalenko ]
Male ❇ 23 ❇ Werewolf ❇ House Praetor ❇ Underboss
Location - Ezekiel's House ❇ Mentions: Ava, Ezekiel, Deonday, Michelle

"Fine then, let's see you come up with a better idea."

That little comment had only made his success at opening the window all the more satisfying, and after the initial exchange of disdainful expressions the corners of his mouth turned up into as much of a smug grin as a wolf could manage. Michelle’s appearance had seen this expression change to something more menacing, hackles rising and a warning growl forming in his throat. Who was this woman? Why was she here? Her lack of fear or surprise at being confronted by a giant wolf had him on high alert. Clearly she was familiar with his kind, and presumably vampires as well. She was definitely a human though. Perhaps one of those hunters? That thought alone had a bad tempered snarl twisting his muzzle as he moved to block the door. If she wanted to enter Michelle would need to go through him first.

His stance made it clear he would defend the house’s occupants, yes even Deonday, from whatever she had planned. A pained shriek coming from inside had his ears twitching, but he didn’t dare remove his emerald gaze from Michelle for even a second. Watching her every movement with intense scrutiny. It hadn’t sounded like Ava or Ezekiel so that meant Deonday probably stepped on or touched one of the various holy objects left around the house. His enhanced hearing allowed him to pick up on the vampire calling for his boss so that confirmed the loudmouth would live at the least. Not that Viktor would have mourned him any otherwise.

[ Arvia Jäger ]
Female ❇ 27 ❇ Vampire ❇ House Valencia ❇ Capo
Location - Apartment Complex ❇ Mentions - Grendile, Ezekial

Grendile’s news was disappointing, but hardly surprising. Arvia hadn’t really expected to hear otherwise. She liked Ezekiel a great deal and truly believed he had potential, but so long as their young leader continued to hate his own being and reject their ways Arvia wasn’t sure he could be an effective boss for House Valencia. She was more than willing to be proven wrong and hoped he would indeed make her eat her words someday. For now however it looked as if things were once again up to her and Grendile to decide. She followed him into the living room and took a seat on the adjacent couch, listening with a solemn expression.

"I agree," she finally signed in resignation. "If it comes to a fight do you believe we can count on House Praetor to back us up?" Arvia really wouldn't put it past the wolves to use an attack to their advantage. Perhaps she was being paranoid. It would make more sense for vampires and werewolves to combine forces and further prove they were capable of working together, but House rivalries were deep rooted for many members of both species. They had a hell of a lot of work ahead of them if they truly wanted peace between their species. Thinking about it made Arvia crave a drink even more than usual.

Michelle Rye | 25 | Female | Human | Location: Outside of Ezekiel's house | Mentions: Viktor , Deonday, Ava

Of the three outside the house, the one who seemed the least threatening and the least likely to lash out was the girl. But of course, she climbed in the window and left Michelle with the two she was now almost certain were not fully human. She kept herself calm, resisting the urge to just go back to the bookstore and pretend like this hadn’t happened. Now that her presences was known, both houses were unlikely to leave her alone, so Michelle decided she would have to go through with this. Despite her calm expression, Michelle tensed slightly when Deonday took a step towards her, she relaxed once he went into the house.

Michelle still didn’t move, staring calmly back at the partially shifted werewolf that was clearly not very happy about her presence. “You don’t have to be like that, I’’m not going to try entering the house, nor am I a hunter,” she stated, shifting her feet so she was standing more comfortably. Michelle made no mention of being related to a hunter, figuring that didn't matter. “I just came here to talk to someone,” which was the truth. She wanted to know the time and location of the meeting, if there was a meeting set up for the houses and the hunters. She didn't say this though, instead she decided to ask a question, "So, what is a werewolf doing here with a vampire and a human? Seems like an odd little group to me. Also, who lives in this house? Vampire or werewolf?"

| Viktor Kovalenko |
Male • 23 y/o • Werewolf • House Praetor • Underboss
Location: Ezekiel's House • Form: Wolf - Human
Mentions: Michelle, Deonday, Ezekiel, Ava

Michelle’s placidity did nothing to calm his suspicions. This wasn’t normal behavior for the average human and Viktor was convinced the woman standing before him must be a hunter no matter how many times she claimed otherwise. Why else would she be here asking so many questions? Her gaze fell on him expectantly, awaiting an answer to her inquiries, and Viktor continued to glare back at her in uncertainty. It was impossible to speak with Michelle in this form. The only things she would hear were barks and growls, or a mix of the two. He would need to shift in order to improve communication, but that would leave him bare in front of a complete stranger.

Reluctantly, he conceded he would need to follow Deonday into the house and search for clothing. He eyed Michelle, displaying his long white teeth in a final warning before whirling around and sprinting into the house. He rushed past Deonday, not pausing even once to glance the vampire’s way. He didn’t have time to talk Ezekiel out of his room, not with a potential hunter lingering out on the porch anyway, where his extra clothes were no doubt out of reach behind a locked door. He would have to leave that to Ava or else hope he made an appearance of his own free will. Nosing around the bathroom proved fruitless, as the few articles of clothing sprawled across the tiled floor definitely belonged to the house's owner and trying to shove all 185 pounds of himself into a pair of Ezekiel’s daisy dukes wasn’t going to result in much more than the shorts being ripped beyond repair.

A frustrated whine filled his throat and he tried a closet in the hallway next. By some stroke of luck he found a long black jacket pushed into a corner and decided it would serve well enough. It was a woman’s style coat, appearing oddly familiar, and it took him a moment to realize it had probably belonged to House Valencia’s former boss Augustine at one time. He made quick work of changing from wolf to man, wrapping the coat around himself and buttoning it shut. It was a minute or so more before he actually forced himself back out to the porch though, very aware he looked utterly ridiculous. He was lucky Augustine had liked her coats long. By some miracle it was just lengthy enough to cover everything important.

He did his best to resume an intimidating posture and expression as he confronted Michelle once more, arms crossing over his chest. "You have a lot of nerve showing up here like you did. Who are you and what do you want?" He didn't plan on telling Michelle anything until he was sure she wasn't a threat, and certainly not without Ezekiel's permission either.

Deonday Bannister | Male | 21 | House Valencia | Soldier | Vampire | Location: Eze's home| Mentions: (Directly) Viktor, Michelle, Ava, Ezekiel / (Indirectly)
Since Eze still hadn't responded he'd have no choice but to go look for him himself. There was no time to wait for his boss to show up on his own accord, not with a potential hunter in the area. The werewolf had passed by him to look for something. At first he had thought that maybe he had come inside to help search for his leader. Instead the werewolf was headed for the front door again with clothes that certainly didn't belong to him. How dare he wrap his filthy self in the coat of their previous boss. She had only died a month and a half ago by from what he had assumed was the hands of the Praetor house. It was disrespectful and was enough to warrant a glower from him and he forced himself off the couch as if he'd actually be able to do something against Viktor. A twinge in his foot was enough to encourage him to not try anything reckless. He'd show that mutt who was the better being. While that fleabag was out there babysitting the human he'd find Ezekiel and be the one to pull him out of his solitude and self doubt. Or more likely get himself beaten by a bat mercilessly as it was clear he didn't want to be bothered, especially by one of the lowest ranking of their house.

Deonday hobbled over to Ava and handed her his phone. As confident as he was in their ability to handle a possible hunter, "If that girl makes it through those front doors we need to call for backup." The only contacts on the phone were those of the Valencia house. He planned on searching every last room if it meant finding their boss. The first room of many he had stormed was only what he assumed was a study or maybe a spare bedroom. With no one in sight he moved on to search a few more rooms before hearing movement on the other side of one of the doors. There he was. He knocked on the door unsure if it was locked or not. Really he prefer not to open the door only to be greeted by any weapon he may or may not have on the other side. "We need you Eze. There's a potential hunter outside." If he wouldn't answer he was getting in there one way or another.

Grendile Kyro| Male | 27 | House Valencia | Capo | Vampire | Location: Arvia's place| Mentions: (Directly) Arvia / (Indirectly)Ezekiel, Deonday
"We can't count on anything." They knew next to nothing of these hunters and had absolutely no way to gauge how this meeting might go and that bothered him. He could only guess what the other house might do but without knowing the hunters' plans they couldn't be definite of anything. "Best case scenario is these hunters actually want peace. Worst case scenario is that they decide to kill only our house. We can't fight if there's not another house to contend with. It would be easier for them to kill one of the houses off than both houses." Countless hours had been spent running over a great multitude of scenarios.

Though he hadn't been born into this house rivalry he had been fighting them long enough that he saw the chances of them coming to any form of peace treaty slim. They had lost a great deal of good soldiers, new bloods, and their third capo to Praetor claws. He was known to hold obsessive grudges against those who had seriously wronged him. Now they were expected to shake the very same hands that might've slaughtered what he had considered family? It would be impossible to forgive and forget the damages they had caused yet that was what was being asked of them. At this point they had no other choice. They hadn't been given sufficient time to bolster their numbers or even grieve the loss of the soldiers the hunters had slain. Being in a higher position than them he did feel somewhat responsible for their deaths. After the hunters had first started killing their soldiers off they should've acted more cautiously and halt their patrols for awhile as he had forced Deonday to for the time being. Eze had been pretty much useless so him and Arvia were left with the strain of keeping their house from falling apart. They couldn't afford one more loss of life so if these hunters planned on making an attempt on their lives they needed to make it clear that they were desperate and make it seem that they could be a threat to these hunters if trifled with. If it turned out these hunters would kill them they needed to run. "Unless it looks like Praetor will back it up if it turns out this is to be an execution we run."
