BATTLE OF THE BLOODS

For thousands of years, dogs have lived in peace among the wondrous Earth, coexisting with other canines. They're found everywhere, different breeds adapted to different climates. They're the prime species of the Earth, and none other has ever been able to overthrow the population, and never will.

Up until now.

All this time, the belief of wolves being extinct was everyone's religion. Not a single Lupus had been spotted for as long as any canine could remember. That is, until one night that changed everything.
In a small, remote area in America, Colorado, a large dog pack that goes by "The Amani Tribe" had the first interactions with a wolf for millions of years. But this "wolf" came with many others. No one was able to speak of where they came from, or what their intentions were, but it couldn't be trusted that they were good. Packs of wolves have been revealing themselves everywhere, from where, remained a mystery. Now it's them against the dogs.
Will they be able to finally overthrow them and take charge as they had centuries ago?
It's up to you to find out.

The Amani Tribe
"Speaks the truth"

This tribe of dogs is known for their pride and vigilance. They're not ones to have the impression of being naive, and have more of a respect from other packs. They live in a deep valley of the Rocky Mountains, and they consist of bigger canines with heavier builds. They sleep in makeshift nests, different ranks varied with eachother. In the gully is also a clear, blue pond with a ledge from the mountain rock above where gatherings are held. Below the ledge is a small cave where the Alpha sleeps.

Though listed as a tribe, they have the rankings of a pack, evidently, the higher ranking dogs getting the better end of the deal. Meals go from highest to lowest rankings, the pups and nursing mothers an exception.

The Motomo Pack
"He who runs fast"

The Motomo pack is located on a plain on the side of the Rockies. They consist of very agile wolves, many lean over heavy, but still acquire brute strength. They're a quiet pack, and usually don't get involved with much, but ever since the wolves showed up, they make sure they pose a threat to the dogs.

They sleep in one big "den", which is a huge hole in the ground that is lined with moss, grass, and flowers. The only tree found in the area is a very old, large oak tree, and this is called the "Peace Tree", and no violence is allowed at it. At the bottom of this, a hole was made from the rotting bark,
and this is where the Alpha sleeps.

Rules/Guidelines

All Lioden rules apply.

✘ Hate the character not the player. Any OOC negativity directed at any people is not at all allowed, and I will warn you if you go too far. Too many warnings will lead to you being asked to leave the RP.

✘ This is expected to be an active roleplay. If you are leaving for a Hiatus, try to contact me beforehand if possible.

✘ This is a literate roleplay. 1+ paragraphs with proper grammar is to be expected, though I can relate to the occasional writer's block. Just make sure your post isn't under 5 sentences; It's probably not worth it at all if it's going to be that short.

✘ This is a canine only RP. Any other foxes/coyotes/etc will be NPC's.

✘ Powerplaying or godmodding is another thing that needs to be avoided; try to keep fights fair.

✘ Any photo references used for your character's appearance is absolutely required to have a source linked to it. Pinterest, photo bucket, tinypic, and any other websites related with not be accepted. Also make sure you're adding a small paragraph to go into further detail of your character.

✘ You are aloud as many characters as you can handle. Try not to test your limits as to how far you can go before having to delete characters like I do far too often.

✘ Moderate swearing is allowed. Make sure you stay within Lioden's boundaries and try not to overdo it.

✘ 1x1 is another nono, though, I know it's easy to get carried away with someone, so if it does happen we'll be sure to warn you. Make sure that at least 3 other people have posted before you reply again.

✘ Make sure all your characters are realistic and match their pack's criteria.

✘ None of your same characters are aloud to date/marry/love/etc eachother. If you wish for your character to be in a relationship, try to take the time to create a bond with one of your fellow roleplayers.

✘ If you've read thus far, put your favorite animal in "other" and why :)

✘ Being mates with a wolf if you're a dog or vise versa is normally, obviously, banned, but if you wanna spice things up, feel free messaging me ;)

✘ Make sure that any mature content is <*b*> Fade to black <*/b*> or taken elsewhere off of the site. Just be sure that everything is in accordance to Lioden's guidelines(remove *).

✘ Since wolves have been "dead" for several years, it would not make sense if there would be wolf dogs, but I will still accept, at the most, 3.

✘ BotB is LGBTQIA Friendly. If you're not okay with this, I suggest you leave now.

✘Since "Kahuna" is a rather uncommon word, the only other words they should ever be called are: Shaman, Healer, Chief, Alpha/Leader, or their name/nickname. Any other terms should not be used aloud.

✘I know that all the shaman aspects to the Tribe are very confusing and hard to follow, but I thought that it'd be nice to bring some of my beliefs into a roleplay to really share my heart with it. Please try your best to read everything through carefully.

Humans are not alive in this era. There are no man-made things such as houses/roads/etc, and they shouldn't be mentioned at all.

They are known as the Leader and Healer of the tribe. It is their responsibility to protect and watch over the others and maintain disciplinary actions to manage their packmates, and also serves as the Shaman. They can be referred to as: Kahuna, Chief, Shaman, or simply just Healer or Alpha. After death/retirement, they are replaced by a Beta. The Kahuna can only ever be male.

Healer[0/1]

They are mates to the Kahuna and though are treated with the same respect, their wisdom is shared between the two, the Healer also serves as a Shaman but doesn't have the same power as the Kahuna.

Though need not to be mates, there should always be two pairs of male dogs if something should happen to one. When the Shaman either dies or retires, one will be announced as the new Kahuna while one stays as a Beta.

Usually this dog can't fulfill the duties of any other rank, therefore they are given chores to do around the camp. They are not aloud to perform any other ranks including: hunting, patrolling, healing, or guarding Shamans, and doing so will result in punishment. Although seen as the dirt of the Tribe, physical abuse is not aloud and will be punishable towards the abuser. Should always remain inside the camp unless given permission.

Pups[0/6]

Dogs that are under a year old. Their rank/name will be chosen on their first Journey.
All pups must have mothers.

They are known as the Leader of the pack. They are responsible for protection, order, and managing the pack with disciplinary actions if necessary. If possible, before death they are to appoint the next Beta to be Alpha and if not, the Healers will. Alphas can be any gender, though one cannot be appointed unless they have firesight.

Alpha Female[0/1]

The mate of the Alpha Male. She maintains the same duties as the Male, and should be treated with the same amount of respect. Alpha female isn't required to have Firesight.

Both a female and male should always be present in this role as a pair, though they're not required to be mates. They're in charge of all the patrols to be made, typically one will be head Hunter and the other Head Patrol Dog. They fill in for the Alphas if they're absent or ill. When the Alpha Male dies or retires, one will be appointed into their place, while the other remains Beta. Usually the Alphas pups will have first chance at fulfilling the Beta spot once it's open, and if not, it will be chosen by the remaining Beta. Any betas must have firesight.

Amani Tribe

Tribe Customs

✶ Kahuna's word is law. Anything they say goes as. ✶

✶ Neighboring dog packs are not to be trespassed into, even if they're not an ally. ✶

✶ You are to defend the Tribe with your life, and to stay loyal to only the Amani. ✶

✶ For a low rank to eat before a higher rank is punishable, with the exception of nursing and pregnant mothers, pups, and the ill. ✶

✶ A pup is to not ever leave the Tribe's base under any circumstances unless the Kahuna goes by it first. ✶

✶ Until pups reach the age of 1, they are to be called a short nickname that the mother has made until they experience their first Journey and receive their proper name and rank. Once this is done they must hold a silent vigil at the Moon Pond until morning.✶

✶ Every moon a gathering is held. ✶

✶ Dogs are not allowed to challenge for a higher rank-since they are given their ranks on their first journey, it is destined for them to play the role unless appointed to a higher/lower rank by the Kahuna. ✶

✶ The Tribe doesn't believe in unnecessary killing. Unless it is absolutely critical may one kill out of self defense. ✶

Beliefs

Shamanism

"Shamanism is an ancient healing tradition and moreover, a way of life. It is a way to connect with nature and all of creation. One could view shamanism as the universal spiritual wisdom inherent to all indigenous tribes. As all ancient spiritual practices are rooted in nature, shamanism is the method by which we can strengthen that natural connection."Source

The Sacred Moon Pond

A clear, blue pond that is believed to have all the stars in the galaxy in it. It is an extremely sacred landmark to the Tribe, and it is a place of socializing and gatherings. The pond is right next to rock from the mountain, therefore creating a small ledge where the Kahuna holds gatherings or watches over the pack mates. Underneath is a series of caves, the largest one dedication to the Healers where they sleep and store their herbs and ritual items. It is a place used for healing and resting, and is said to make a dog stronger just with one lap of its pure water, and if its water is poured into a wound, the healing process will quicken. It is also a place of silence where the dogs can find peace and meditate if wanted.

Gatherings

Every full moon at exactly midnight when the moon is at its highest the Kahuna holds a gathering. It is started with a great howl of all the tribe and is continued with updates of the Tribe. The dogs have small wraps with a seed the makes a rattling noise inside of them that they hold in their mouths and dance, the seeds rhythm matching their movements. They can go for however long they'd like, or if they'd rather not at all. The purpose of dancing is to create a positive energy and to liven the Tribe for the start of a new month. Much talking and sharing is held here, and at some occasions, other tribes and dog packs are welcome to join. Once this is all done and the Healer feels the time is right, the gathering is ended in silence and the Tribe is welcome to gather around the moon pond and self reflect.

Journeys

When a pup is turning one year old, the day of their birthday they are taken into the Healer's den at midnight and are rested on the Healer's bed. The same bundles of seeds that are used for dances are what the Kahuna will use in a rhythm of four beats per second. The pup will be told to close their eyes and visualize them climbing inside of a hole they've seen before in their life(tree stump, animal burrow, etc), and to climb downwards inside and follow the tunnel. By this time they are entering the Lower World that consist of power animals, ancestral spirits, and more. Once they enter here, they will meet their power animal(any animal except human. Player's choice of what it is) and will be told their name and their rank. Dog's may visit for as long as the time the the Kahuna will switch the rhythm to 3 beats per second and gradually grow slower, awakening the pup. As tradition, the now dog must hold a vigil at the moon pond and watch over the base while the others sleep. Source

Motomo Pack

Pack Customs

✶ The alpha and beta's words are law. Anything they so goes as. ✶

✶ When new wolf packs are discovered by the Motomo that live nearby, they are to not ever trespass their land as they will need allies. ✶

✶ If it comes down to the point where your life is on the line for the Pack, it is your job to stay loyal and except it. ✶

✶ Eating will order from the highest ranks to the lowest, pups and mother dogs the only exception.Dog's found eating out of order with be punished. ✶

✶ Unless accompanied with an Alpha/Beta, pups are not aloud to leave the base camp. ✶

✶ Lower ranks are allowed to challenge for a higher rank unless the Alpha denies it. If given permission, the challenger and challenged will fight without drawing blood until one backs out. ✶

✶ Every moon a ceremonial fire will be held with the pack to see all possible prophecies for the upcoming month. Only those with firesight will be able to see this. If there is a prophecy, it will take place in the flames of the fire. ✶

✶ On a pup's one year birthday they will be able to chose their name, and until that moment, they are to be called a nickname created by their mother. Once this is done they are to hold a silent vigil on the entrance of the camp until morning. ✶

✶ Unless absolutely required for self defense is one of the packmates allowed to kill in battle, even though it is highly frowned upon. ✶

Beliefs

The Moon Pack

The Moon Pack is a place way among the clouds and into the stars. This is the celestial Pack where every fallen Wolfe's spirit lays to rest and watch over them from above and keep them safe. This is the belief of every Motomo Pack member, and those who don't believe in it are banished from the Pack, for this is what their whole life circles around. After every kill, it is custom to give a silent thanks to the Moon Pack for providing them with this meal.

Ceremonial Fires and Firesight

Firesight is considered the ability to see prophecies inside of the flames of a fire. No special things are needed to be done beforehand to the fire enable to see these, and if you hold the power, it will come naturally. This takes place at the Peace Tree, and since the wolves don't have the power to make a fire, they call in their ancestors to light their wood pile with a lightning strike for them. If after they call for them and no lightning comes, it is a terrible sign that only burdens will be placed on the pack throughout the next month. This is done every Moon to see the upcoming events that will take place either bad or good, and preparations they will need to make. Having this ability is rare and will grant you the position of higher ranks.
